I doubt it with the use of the cloud storage streaming. A lot of what you see will be streamed in on the fly making weaker rigs capable of running the game. That's why they're releasing on console as well. I'm gonna build myself a rig anyways because I want motion platform and VR.
@riotproductionz28945 жыл бұрын

It is is with a mix of excitement and sadness that I watch this analysis, Doofer. My dad was a big fan of yours and this new version of the MSFlight would have had him hopping up and down with excitement had he lived to see it. He never touched a pc or even a keyboard until his 80s and then got into flight sims in a big way. Into his mid to late 80s his mind was still sharp and he taught himself how to use the PC and fly his favourite planes by the book. No joyrides for him! I miss him very much and this brings back fond memories. Thank you sir!

@quillmaurer65635 жыл бұрын
More importantly, actually simulate the fly-by-wire computers, something FSX couldn't do. FSX just had it in direct-control mode, where side-stick (or user's joystick) moves the flight controls. Interestingly, you can actually see in the FSX cockpit that the flight computers are switched off, and you can't turn them on, seemingly acknowledging this limitation.

Well, technically Prepar3D is still here and actively maintained. It is literally the same game as FSX, as Lockheed Martin bought the ESP engine and brought the Aces Studios to continue its development. It is even compatible with nearly all addons for FSX.

@Interestingstuff Once again no I really don't care about scenery. I want fully study level aircraft that are realistic we use navigraph data and actually use real life procedures we have guys on vatsim the biggest flight sim community online and even ATC's. I am not hating on this sim I just really wanna know how third party devs will support it since most the default airplanes in FSX was terrible while the addon packs that are out are highly realistic. FSX wouldn't still be used if it had not been for third party addons. Lockheed Martin bought the FSX engine and completely made a new sim.

Thanks for posting about this! Curious if you think this is going to be a fully fledged simulator like FSX or XPlane or a toned down sim style game on console? Obviously the hope is that this is true successor to FSX!
@Doofer9115 жыл бұрын
I think everyone wants it to be a full-fat simulator. It's this Xbox integration that's concerning me and I think it goes beyond "It's a PC game but you can stream it to your Xbox". I just worry that things like controls will be dumbed down and simplified for use with a gamepad controller. Think how impractical that type of controller is for flicking various light switches, or overhead panel switches. They may turn around and say that you can change certain options to be more realistic or more arcadey but you're still trying to please different groups rather than committing down one road and doing that really well. There's also the memory of their last attempt at refreshing a simulator which was Microsoft Flight which didn't do well. They've got the resources do make the true FSX successor, let's just hope they've been keeping an eye on the community and got some fresh ideas to bring the genre forward.
@Miles9945 жыл бұрын
@@Doofer911 Yeah, agreed. There's definitely a market for a full fat FSX replacement, but MS got out of the full fat simulator market for some reason, so would be good to know if they are trying to get back in or this is just MS Flight Simulator in name only.

I don't mind floating runway lights if it is a big hit on performance. I would prefer them to make them so they only appear close to the player, because they're such tiny details that the level of detail doesn't have to be high on them. It's possible that this game might be streamed through Azure Cloud so that the end user doesn't need to have the burden of equipping himself with the proper hardware. Also, this opens the possibility for the game to be rendered in real time raytracing from that same cloud infrastructure. The terrain must be generated from satellite and aerial photogrammetry, something that Google has been doing with its Maps/Earth service in some towns, but it also looks that some custom edits to the terrain have been done, either manually or through Azure AI.

How much do you think they'd be willing spend to render the game for thousands of users?

I started flight simming about 30 years ago using a discounted floppy with Microsoft Flight Simulator. I have progressed since. I am totally blown away. This looks beautiful. It leaves “Steam” for dead. I will have to get this next year.

Fantastic review and analysis Doofer 🙂 Will you be buying it? It certainly looks incredible in the trailer but as you say, will that translate to actual in game quality. Take good care of yourself xx

Thank you :D I've applied to be part of their "Insider Programme" which might get me a look at an early-access version. I probably won't be able to publicise anything from that but I'll hopefully get a feel for what the game/sim is shaping up to be.

The trailer is stunning, for real. I like the weather and the scenery. I really hope, they learned a lot from their last mistake. Yeah, I look at you Microsoft Flight! The engine must be able to handle the basic stuff like physics, scenery and weather. Everything else have to be effortlessly accessible via a good documented API. So other companies could build effortlessly awesome aircrafts and scenerys that helps this sim to get a real simulator.

The Aerobatic Airplane at 8:30 should be a Cap 10 and the plane at 9:10 is not old piper aircraft. Its for sure a Robin Cockpit, most likely the DR.400, you can also see it, because the wingtipps, are slightly up, Robin is known for this.

The first aircraft you're struggling to identify seems to be a Mudry CAP-10, and the second is a Robin DR-400.

8:30 is probably a Mudry Cap 10B site by site aerobatics aircraft. I hope this one will be available as it's shown because we have it in real in our school. I like new edition of FSX and I hope to to se well developed avionics on both GA aircrafts like C172 G1000 and more available buttons on B737 or Airbus. Well well... Waiting to it's coming :-)

Thats the problem with DTG they've slacked off because off a monopoly for far too long and same with OMSI developers, got slack instead of enhancing the product with a better game engine.
@Doofer9115 жыл бұрын
I've seen an announcement that seems to suggest that Microsoft had the right to "recover" their simulator code after selling it to Dovetail Games. That would go some way to explaining the sudden stoppage of development of Flight Sim World.
