Microsoft have nothing in play telling you to call them or would call you out of the blue. Only time anyone is to talk with Microsoft support is if you call them by using their real number by looking it up on their website. lil note, you'll never speak to someone from Indian.

The scammer page is so full of misspellings, etc., that alone should cause people to red flag it. For all the time these losers spend trying to scam people out of money, they could have done something productive with their lives like getting a real damn job.

Awww, thanks Brian! I so appreciate these videos because I do not know very much about these types of scams and it always worries me as I heard some horrible stories about friends that have been scammed. I am part of the older gen and although I do not know much about the tech world, I do try to educate myself on these types of issues. Your a sweetie...cheers!

It really irks me that they go after older people like myself (i'm 65) just because they assume we don't know anything about computers - well in most cases that is probably correct, but luckily I know enough to realise when it's a scam. 'whew'

@@BertGrink Yes, it's a shame. My brother, he is 67, and he fell for the scam. He happened to be having some issue with his laptop at the time. They got around $500 US from him over the course of a few months, before he realized he got scammed.

The only thing that gives the scam away at the surface is the fact that Windows is misspelled in the pop-up. Microsoft must address this by quickly. Thanks!

Nice post . Thanks Brian . The remote connection tab comes with multiple GUI tickbox options -- there is a BIG reason for that . Do people explore that ? NO ! Care to know ? Heck NO !! And then , there came Android apps with selectable permission details and background data connections !! Same questions and same answers . Bollocks !!

Britec im having a problem that you might be able to help me with. i got a laptop from my brother because he forgot the hard drive password. now im not interested in the files on the drive. but i would like to format the drive and reuse it. only problem is if i connect it to the laptop it goes directly to the password. and i cant even access the bios. if i connect it internally on my desktop it does the same. so i've bought a usb harddrive enclosure. so the problem is. it shows up in my device manager as a usb storage device. but not in the disk management or in my pc. ive also tried searching for it in commands but i'ts still not showing up. and sugestions?

Brian, if you ring their number, do you get to talk with the scammer or is it a robot voice on the other end? If it's the scammer I'm going to chew his ears off! I got one of these the other day, and they are getting better, but you would think that they would use a spellchecker on the documented pages on their websites.

Nice One. It might be an idea to show how microsoft do interact and connect via their site? I did it recently, well I hope it was them! No phone number to call, no code to enter just accepted remote assistance, the operative did keep on asking for my phone number just in case we got disconnected - but I wouldn't give it, I did get a confirmation E-mail from Microsoft Customer support afterwards too. 👌 I couldn't tell their accent by their typing - it wasn't a scam was it?? 😁

if is a scam the first they try to scare you by this from the run box they cmd then they type cd\ cd\ cd\ to get to the root of the drive then they type tree the tree cmd is a log file which shows what you have on drive nothing else but they will type in while it is listing you have hackers malware and viruses on your machine which is wrongif they do this shut down your computer or pull the telephone line to your computer as they are doing things in the background on your machine take care when you get any faults on your computer
