Contrary to what you would think, don't go on a day you know will be quiet. Previously, this would have been a good tactic to get on a lot of rides and less queuing time. But now, when it's quite, they restrict the availability of rides. So not all the big ones are available at the same time and it keeps you in a queue longer for the ones that are. Reduces usage of rides and maintenance costs.

went on July 7th. The rides had a power cut and it battered it down but people started leaving after that so we managed to get on the big 7 + go on 5 of them again

Hey I was there that day! Some folks got totally soaked on oblivion at like 10:30am, my socks were ruined. But by 2pm it was so much warmer and we managed almost every ride. They even opened Oblivion after the park closed because it had been broken all day.

Haven't been to Alton Towers for 20 plus years, last time I did Oblivion, Submission and Enterprise first. Corkscrew and Rita was always next, then Nemesis, Air and Duel. Of course did Ripsaw a few times. Showing my age now.

Arrived early, headed straight for Nemesis only to find it closed. Alright, let's head to Smiler then. Also closed. Right, Oblivion I guess? Also closed. All the way back and finally get to Rita, it's now 10 and every man and his dog has headed for it since it was the only open one. Awesome.

I going on 10th August but we don’t have a car and we are using a company called family outings and we can’t arrive at 9 o’clock because it says on the web we have to arrive at 10 I’m going to have to go to forbidden valley or dark forest at the start then

Your comments about the gardens tour is completely false. You can still walk through the gardens, free of charge. The £10 experience involves a 2 hour tour walking through the gardens and towers. So the benefits of the guided tour are you get to see part of the Towers interior, which has been inaccessible to guests for some years now. And you have a tour guide who gives information as you walk around and you can ask questions. I think its a nice addition considering the history of the place.

No. The Towers are paid for, which includes a guided tour of the gardens
