100%.I live "middle of nowhere" and there is an old barn nearby, with a book exchange on it. You bring a book, take a book. People have been exchanging some totally decent books too, not just junk. The used book store in town is PACKED with people, the owners said they are looking at expanding for the first time in 3 decades. People NEED to get reading again, fire up those imaginations.

I was looking forward to seeing Alien : Romulus. But, when I viewed the trailer for it, I felt a disconnect to go and see it. This new Alien : Romulus movie, with the usual face-huggers, Alien smashing out the chest, the Aliens chomping up the crew, etc, it's all reminiscent to all the previous Alien movies. Maybe, we have become to de-sensitised to these Alien movies horror scares. So, there's no more thrill.

I m writing 3 scripts and i think about sending them to Hollywood 1 is the life of Nelson Mandela and the protagonist could be someone like Leonardo DiCaprio or another great white actor 2 is the Battle of Isandhlawana and the army of Zulu will be played by chinese with lots of kungfu scenes (its much cheaper to use chinese extras and more realistic than CGI) 3 is a more fictional film of the famous Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie fighting against ninjas and Vikings to claim the throne. I m thinking that DJ Qualls would be ideal for the role of the Emperor Opinions ?

There may actually be some good ones ... in the meantime, I'm quite happy working my way through films from the 40s, 50s and 60s that I've not watched in decades. It seems the Golden Eras of Hollywood is either finished or in Limbo? With Wokeism infiltrated just about every industry, viewers may have to get use to new styles of movies with Woke traits. I think in another 10 - 15 years time, mainstream movies will be what kids who will then be around 15 - 20 years old, will be watching and they'll be witnessing a totally new world of movies. These movies to them, for however many years, will be their Classics. There won't be many of that age group, interested in Alice In Wonderland, Star Wars, Jaws, Psycho, The Exorcist Monty Python and millions of other movies, that made Hollywood and many other Classic movies from around the world, prior to the Woke Movement.

The stupid part about it all is that the 70's and 80's versions of these movies did actually create a naturally strong woman character without it being, "hey! Look! A STRONG, WOMAN, LEADING, ON SCREEN!!! DO YOU SEE IT! THE STRONG WOMAN CHARACTER? DO YOU SEE WHAT WE AT HOLLYWOOD HATH CREATED!? IT'S A STRONG WOMAN CHARACTER! SEE!? WE'RE CULTURALLY THE BESTEST!!!" I'm not saying Hollywood went "woke," it's actually the exact opposite problem. They're patronizing as hell! Just tell us a damn good story like you used to, and if the main character just so happens to be a woman, then great! Cool! I'll have another Ellen Ripley, Princess Leah, or Nancy Thompson to root for! And if that awesome main character is a man, no problem either! I love Dr. Grant and Dr. Malcom, Luke Skywalker, Jack Reacher, and Liam Neeson (he is his characters lol). It's just insulting at this point TBH.

Do you know the whole story and how they got there? Because from this trailer it’s not 100% clear. So there may be a reason. Also think about how in old movies/tv shows everyone was way too old. Where were the young people? Actually Hollywood has the same old stars playing roles they are too old for. So things have swung the other way to engage younger audiences. FYI I’m old and like seeing ages mixed up.

As a kid I was fine identifying with adult characters. Now people are identity oriented and expecting representation, rational or not. I didn't want to watch kids as a kid and I don't want it as an adult. It used to be about escapism but that has been lost.

@@carljensen333 lol, sadly it’s clear in our modern society age no longer is connected to wisdom. Rich stories have a broad range of characters. There is definitely place for young characters in stories. I’d also say in the same stories there can be expressions of learning and wisdom. But seriously we’re talking about the Alien films. I love this franchise but if you’re expecting some form of depth and wisdom, your expectations are a bit high. Especially as they say they are focusing on horror. But luckily there are some deep sci-fi stories out there. Bottom line, just keep an open mind and enjoy these stories. They may be flawed but they can still be entertaining and escapist.
