It’s what Trump said throughout his whole campaign in 2016! You have to believe that many of the people that vilified the Chicks voted for the guy saying the same thing about the Iraq war. And I’m not calling them hypocrites, it’s just that with the passage of time, we all came around to the Chicks opinion of the war and the lies that got us into it. I DO think Nashville owes them an apology however

Had never cared for, or listened to, much country music until country fans and radio stations tried to crucify the Dixie Chicks over Natalie’s remark. I was horrified by the hostility and censorship the country music establishment displayed against these talented women especially given that these same country music fans tended to portray themselves as flag-waving, freedom loving patriotic Americans - what hypocrisy. Anyways, I gave a listen to and eventually bought every CD the DCs had released and I will buy this album too. Thank you, Natalie, for your courage. I’m thrilled the Dixie Chicks are still making great music and are still #unapologetic. You women are fantastic!

I was 5 years old in 2001 when I first heard their Fly album that was printed as a blue CD and I lost the CD and I heard a song of their's on the radio when I was a little older and spent almost 15 years trying to find a girl band that had that blue CD. When I finally found them and I replayed their songs like there was no tomorrow and memories flooded of my little chubby self singing their lyrics by heart and dancing. I didn't understand why they weren't popular or "famous" until I saw the headlines about Bush. They have so much talent and I'm so sad that they weren't able to showcase it until now. I LOVE Y'ALL.

Plus they won every award for their next album. Besides Rolling Stone Magazine did a big story on every other major artist from Maroon 5 to Alicia Keys, Pink, R.E.M.,Eminem, etc. all speaking out against Bush and the war. Thee were so many protest songs written and released it almost became a negative not to. Look at Neil Young and his "Let's Impeach The President" I think the whole Dixie Chicks thing lit a little match under everyone to not be afraid to speak up. I know people still hate 'em to death for that. Those people can just miss out on good music for being so narrow minded. To say they disagree is one thing. To throw big hissy fits and death threats and still to this day boycott them is just petty and dumb. I hoped they could've gotten over it by now..

Welcome back, ladies ( perfect post since today is International Women's Day too! ). While speaking one's mind is a deeply held American value, most American's forget that politics and music have been side by side since the Civil War. It doesn't matter if it's the Dixie Chicks or Frank Zappa or Marvin Gaye or Bob Dylan: If artists tell audiences the " emperor still doesn't have any clothes, " no matter the year or the timing, the result is that those artists do not have to apologize for it.

@@eringaines I get that there will always be those who hate/despise/loathe/disagree with what artists say when it comes to " stirring the pot " involving politics. I truly understand it because it is part and parcel of the development for our country ( America is still only less than 300 years old compared to the Asian/European/Middle Eastern countries ). BUT, a review of history shows most people have regrets of not standing up to tyranny/stupidity/anarchy when the times were ripe to say/do something. Growth, with mistakes, are important. yes. But not nearly as dangerous as having regrets on keeping quiet.
