I can't find any character for these things do you have any recommendations for care advise what is the full set of and how sensitive are they?
@AntsFlagstaff5 ай бұрын
Heat and don't let nests dry out. Feed cricket's or roaches, fruit flies work too. Keep sugar in their enclosure almost 24/7. They can be sensitive, but they aren't bad
@Antanamera333 жыл бұрын
hello I received my gyne mexicanus with larvae I feed it? do I leave it in its classic tube or do I put it in a compartmentalized bamboo tube? thank you so much
@AntsFlagstaff3 жыл бұрын
Don't feed her myrmecocystus are fully claustral which means they don't need food during founding. And it doesn't matter what tube and just make sure she has sand for her pupae, I would recommend to move them out of the tube into a mini hearth when she gets her very first workers.

@@AntsFlagstaff Ohh it's very cool profession I guess. I'm thnking of buying me my first colony, what should I buy as a beginner? And one more question, do they make new quees or I need to buy them time to time? P.S. Keep making your videos, they're very intresting
@AntsFlagstaff3 ай бұрын
@artakbaghdasaryan2544 as a beginner Camponotus sp. Myrmecocystus sp. Novomessor sp. Pogonomyrmex sp. Some Formica sp. I do not recommend buying because you do need permits to import through state and country borders for ants, especially if not native to your area. You can get permits through the USDA/Aphis... a PPQ526 permit is what you need if you are not 18 and above. The permit will have to be in your parents' name if still a minor (it is very hard to get permits). There are some websites that do have permits to sell to people... (This is all assuming you are in the United States as well) Entomology is the study of bugs... I am also a herpetologist (study of reptiles). I've been in the university's for 4 years now. If you like wildlife, I highly recommend getting some sort of wildlife job, but only if you are 100% dedicated to lifestyle. Colonies can make queens in captivity, but note these queens will NOT be fertile, which means they will NOT be able to start a new colony... queens can live up to 5-30 years, depending on species.
@artakbaghdasaryan25443 ай бұрын
@AntsFlagstaff Thank you for your advice! I've already chosen my main job in IT, but currently, I'm looking for wildlife volunteer opportunities in my area because I really enjoy that kind of work. I might even try to get a bachelor's degree in entomology, it sounds fascinating to me. Thank you again!

@AntsFlagstaff Жыл бұрын
@@TheSevenboy127 That's great. that's all you need to get started too. Haven't been posting new videos recently due to a building break-in at the Biology building of NAU university... which is the building that conatins my lab(s) that I work in. someone broke in and turned on multiple emergency showers on and broke them to stay on becuase theres no floor drains because its just for emergencys like if you get chemicals in your eyes. but they put out 5 gallons of water per couple seconds through a minute which is why you have to hold the handles down to keep it on. Multple were left on for 6 hours, So a lot of damge has been done to the build and labs, for the labs I work in thankfully it's not has bad as it could have been.

I assume you mean the ants... Come to AZ, and I can sell you some next year or so. But it is Illegal to sell/ship ants across state and country lines unless both sides have permits to do so... The PPQ 526 permit is what you need.
