Hahahahahahahha imagine you're co op partner is trapped at the registers or a fitting room (like a customer stopped them making them help them effectively stalling them making the work harder) and you have to stop what your doing to free them

As someone who worked retail *(only once in their life so far)* I didn't really mind helping people find things while I was out putting stuff on the shelves. It was the cash register that I hated. The long lines gave me anxiety and the fact that I'm not too good at counting cash made it suck too. I only had one karen and that was on black friday before christmas. I was at register and I didn't know how to check discounts or whatever it was she was wanting. I wasn't even hired for register I was hired for stocking shelves so I didn't know what to do. I kept telling karen that I don't know how to check what she wanted and she kept saying something like "But it's discounted right?" needless to say I stopped working there that day and told the karen off. It wasn't worth the 11 bucks I was getting.

Yes, this is frighteningly accurate (except for the part where the customers leave *exactly* on closing time) It honestly seems like, for a high percentage of people, their total IQ, sense of empathy, and common decency towards their fellow human gets roughly halved the second they step inside a retail environment as a consumer. (And that estimate is being *kind* ) That, or they perceive our lanyards as "Kick Me" signs, in that they seem to have a free pass to be as horrible as they want to us with the full knowledge that we cannot retaliate. And for as much grief as the younger generations get for being "entitled and disrespectful know-nothings" I've noticed that the worst offenders tend to be more often in the Gen X, Boomer, and so-called "Greatest Generation" age groups.
