This is a common oversaturation strategy. You saturate the market with many different variations of a product with confusing or meaningless naming schemes covering all price ranges of interest. This leads to confusion of the end buyer preventing them from building an overview picture of the market and reducing their ability to navigate it. This leaves them at the mercy of local store sales managers of weaving whatever marketing bs they desire and selling at least something which is bound to be your product if you cover all the ranges. Laptop and LCD Monitor market are freakish in this regard - one letter in the naming scheme can mean a whole diffrent product many levels above or below its' price level. The opposite would be Apple's marketing strategy with a limited number of products. But this requires a well thought out product lineup, high margin on each of them and high percieved quality of product. All of this is unachievable in a densly populated open market like running shoes.

QD: we're coming towards winter here in Australia, so the weather is a little unpredictable. I ran 26km at a round 5:15 per km pace. The first 40 minutes was with one of my headlights on, as it was dark, which is ok, but it was drizzling all the way to 22km, which wasn't much fun. I have a Patagonia Storm Racer jacket for ultras and heavy rain, but it didn't appear to be raining and the weather app didn't show any rain, so I took my lightweight spray jacket in my Ultimate Direction belt (just in case). That ended up going on at 13km, because it was starting to sag through the stretchy tabs, it was so wet. It really was a good run, just a little wet. You know the saying, "there's not such thing as bad weather, just soft people". Well I decided I wasn't going to be soft on Sunday.

Not super upset though, just learning lessons!

QD. Long run yesterday (Sunday) for me was 2 hours 15 minutes. Covered 29.92km in that time which equates to 4:31/km. Was a little bit tired as the milage for the week was 128km (about 76-77 miles). Also Saturday I ran a 10km (6miles) time trial. Here in Australia 🇦🇺 restrictions are slowly easing and groups of 10 from last week are now allowed (still with 2m social distancing between individuals). A group from my track club got together and ran a 10km time trial around Albert Park Lake in Melbourne which is the Formula 1 Grand Prix track for the Australian Grand Prix. (Channeling Kipchoge running around Monza track on the first 2 Hour Project attempt.) Was happy with my time of 38:37 for 10km as it is the first sub 40 minute 10km I have run in 3 years due to injuries.

I actually like a heavier, more stable shoe for my long run. I find that if it has good heal to toe off motion and the midsole has good energy return, I really don't notice the few extra ounces. It's the real soft, sluggish midsoles that seem to tire my legs out faster. This looks like a shoe I'd like, but not sure if it justifies spending $130.

Makes it hard to adjust to the heat though, but half way through I realized that this is what I had hoped for when I started running, to be able to run further and explore the world around me! So it was tough but im glad for it! Also, question, when you talk about a shoe being too heavy for long runs, is that relative to what each person would consider a long run or is there a certain km/ mile number that you would say a shoe becomes too heavy for... Like for example for 15km a shoe should be under 9 ounces.... If that makes any sense... Thanks 😊

I missed Tuesday's with True Love! QoD: Long run was a blast! Visited family in Eastern WA and got to enjoy some different scenery from my college town, (Spokane love!)

Any idea why Running stores in Canada might be steering away from the Pegasus? You can only really get the 37 from the Nike site. All other running stores don't seem to carry it like they use to and getting rid of older models. The Peg was always a mainstay in running specific stores but not anymore.

QD: It was nice to run 15k. Since corona started in Rio, I did not run for more than 60 minutes.

I have the infinity react and the peg 37... peg 37 is definitely cushy and makes me slower. the infinity reacts make me faster

I’m planning on getting the infinity reacts for my long and slower runs, is that a good idea?

Great content on shoes but ever run with the kids? Just bought a running stroller but couldn’t find enough content to make a confident decision. Bought a bob all terrain.
