All sounds good. I hope we actually get this in 2025 whether the average enthusiast can afford it or not. Let’s hope it will come with significantly improved noise performance and breakthrough dynamic range. That kind of performance could indeed push many to switch over or back to Nikon.
@kieranhayesphotographyАй бұрын
It's more than likely going to be a flagship model and I am presuming it will come with a matching price tag. If they can get the High ISO performance and dynamic range right that alone would be huge. Global shutter and higher resolution then too would just be a bit too much 😂. Fingers crossed we see this development soon.

Nikon is doing great, but i want a high resolution, high dynamic range, great color rendition, great raw latitude powerful camera. I don't mind a somewhat slow sensor readout. I mean i want a Z7III
@kieranhayesphotographyАй бұрын
I wouldn't mind one either, I would expect we will get that next year fingers crossed.

One wonders if this is something that RED has been working on…I believe that they already have a global shutter system, so this could be the "budget" version for slightly less expensive cameras.
@kingghidorah8106Ай бұрын
yes, red V-Raptor has global shutter. The fact Nikon released 16 bit raw to bait Red into trial just to get bought, lol. Nikon has always made great decisions. But funnily enough, even despite Nikon's purchase of Red removed the "proprietary file format" achieved to make it public domain, the camera companies that were drooling for it in the past are no longer interested and thus, we're stuck with 10 bit raw. Oh wait, at least to my knowledge, that is Sony.
@kieranhayesphotographyАй бұрын
It was the very first thing I thought of when I heard Nikon was buying Red. Global shutter is going to be great, as long as the sensor and processing are fast enough of course. Interesting times ahead 😃

I think we are about to see a few big changes over the next 12 to 18 months.... Great time to be alive for camera tech.

@@kieranhayesphotography Historically, Dreadnought ships became top tier (all large caliber guns) and ostensibly ended the need for Cruisers, Battleships. I wonder how Nikon will justify the Z8 & Z9 in the future. Will they cannibalize these formerly top tiers - or rather put such a premium on the new rig it becomes a corporate purchase (with a hefty premium/margin) and then small professional shooters pay a reasonably smaller premium for a slightly lesser model. The professional sweet spot so to speak. Nikon won't put all their eggs in one basket. I hope the pro-sumer segment still end up with something of fair value. Secondly, if you have a sensor, mechanism and algorithms that dump light very quickly there will be a need for faster lenses. Nikon's relationship with 3rd parties will either be strained again or Nikon will be hoping fast glass will be a second money spinner. "You're not doing this camera justice with your f1.4, the new f0.75 will truly realise your professional capabilities at only 4000 Euro per prime lens ....."

Hello could you refer to the patent number you are referring to?
@kieranhayesphotographyАй бұрын
It's a slightly complicated one as it's actually an update to an existing patent for a hybrid sensor that Nikon applied for 8 years ago... P2022180382 that's the patent number for Japan. It was reapplied for the amendments for the new sensor in July and granted in October. It went under the radar mostly as it wasn't a new patent. My mistake I didn't realize the patent was actually approved.

Just when I think "how much better can photo gear get?", I remind myself - technology NEVER stops advancing. My hunch, we'll see a new / even faster sensor in the Z9II. Then inherited by the Z8II a year or so later. Maybe global, but not if the base ISO is 200. Nikon will want to do better on both ends (as compared to the A9III). But for now, IMO, full stacked sensor is the way to go. Especially with 3.7 ms or faster readout speeds. Typing this as I listen, forgive me if I've overlapped anything you're saying 🙂
@kieranhayesphotographyАй бұрын
If this info is all correct and what I am being told comes true then we will be aiming for ISO 100 at least and incredibly fast readouts then too. The Z9ii is by far the most likely candidate to see this tech alright. Fingers crossed it rolls out in Winter 2025. Exciting times ahead my friend.

Looking like a 12k or 16k sensor as I cant see a new camera with 8K as the Z9 already has that capability. probably Generation 4.0 Type B cards with
@kieranhayesphotographyАй бұрын
Possibly alright I am being told 8k with high fps is the main aim for now but higher resolution is the way forward alright. Exciting times.

What if they let us buy it, as an upgrade on our Z9 or Z8 ?
@kieranhayesphotographyАй бұрын
Sadly it's going to be a hardware upgrade and processor upgrade also but the good news for us Z8 and Z9 users is there is a new firmware update on the way with tweaks on the AF performance.

Nikon power zoom lens and RED sensor have new Z mount and Nikon Cinema line
@kieranhayesphotographyАй бұрын
Yes, Red and Nikon are going to be a strong combo in cinematography going forward. Having a Nikon body with close to RED specs would be amazing for hybrid use. Exciting times ahead and to think everyone was writing off Nikon a few years ago.
@NikCan66Ай бұрын
@@kieranhayesphotography when the Z mount was made available and it's size seemed close to medium format versions I felt it was going to move into cinema area back then but people disagreed.
@kieranhayesphotographyАй бұрын
@NikCan66 Yes, I think a Nikon are only starting to take advantage of the flange size now. The Z series lenses are great as regards focus breathing and wide apertures should be a lot easier for Nikon also. That was a very smart move.

That was my only whim with my Z9, the 1/200 sync flash speed limitation before going hss, which unlike you, I absolutely hate. I was hoping that since the Z9 and Z8 had no mechanical shutter they would at least go up to 1/400… but no. Let’s hope you are right.
@kieranhayesphotographyАй бұрын
Oh trust me I would much prefer a faster sync speed but I am also grateful for HSS. The future is Global shutter, fingers crossed we will see it soon now.

king of a silly point but, sony bought the company that made the sensors for Nikon. so that's why they were using sony sensors.. doesn't mean they are the same sensors
