Hi, it's mainly designed for a DSLR or mirrorless cameras, you can get an adaptor so you could mount a phone to the teleprompter. NEEWER Smartphone Holder Vertical Bracket with 1/4-inch Tripod Mount. The idea there is you use the back camera on the phone and you don't shoot wide angle. The phone holder means the phone can be mounted horizontally or vertically also. Using it vertically could be tricky depending on the phone though unless you mount the camera upside down and invert the footage afterwards in editing.

Have you had any issues taking this in your hand luggage on a plane? I just had to put my Gitzo GM4562 monopod into the hold/checked luggage because they were worried about me using the leg as a weapon!!!

Hi Tom, every time I travel I always get stopped by security, I must just look dodgy or something. Then they ask what's in the bag and I have to go through it all. I always put my tripod inside my suitcase for that very reason. I just know they will stop me. I haven't heard of someone having that issue with a monopod though. That seems a bit mad, but then again you can also see the reasoning behind it. I have seen people go through with tripods regularly on planes but a lot of it depends on the company you are flying with I believe. I hope the monopod came out ok on the other side?

I've been using the Gitzo GT1555T for number of years and it has served me well. I'm not a big fan of Gitzo's GH1382TQD ball head (no friction!), but it gets the job done for what I do. I often mount an RRS pano clamp on the quick release plate and then a PG-01 for multi-row panoramas. The Gitzo is very small when folded. It fits inside a Peak Design 30L back pack with room for my RRS pieces as well. It is, however, pricey. Were I purchasing today, I would probably get something else!

That's a seriously nice tripod, the bigger brother to the Before tripod. As you say it's certainly not cheap but then again you get what you pay for. You don't see an awful lot of Gitzo tripods out in the wild in Ireland. The distributor changed and they kind of went scarce then. Amazing range of products though. I spent a few hours playing with them one day. Enjoy the tripod it's a gorgeous unit.

Had mine for 4 months and I just love it! I do a lot of landscape and wildlife, and it just performs so well. Yeah the "hot card" issue may be a problem for some, but do keep in mind that most people will not shoot in 8k for a long time. Shooting 8k is really a whole different ballgame as it requires a lot of storage space and computer power (also adding that most cant view 8k, so only reason is really to add flexibility in post). Myself I for 90% of the time are shooting 4k and haven't had any big issues with the hot-card problem. Should also mention that the Z8 often sells as a bundle with a battery-grip. I often use the battery-grip when doing wildlife and it works really well. You can also charge the two EN batteries with usb directly into the battery-grip. Great video!
@kieranhayesphotography
@kieranhayesphotography 10 күн бұрын
Exactly, 8k isn't for everyone but it's a big selling point for some for future proofing and companies are starting to request it now on some shoots. I am only really mentioning it so people know before they buy the camera. Just to give an honest balanced opinion for people. Some people have had issues in higher ambient temps in burst mode even with high end cards. Again they are more the extreme than the normal. In Ireland we will never get those temperatures thankfully 😀. The melting point of an Irish person is 30 degrees 😉. Thanks for the feedback and enjoy the Z8 it's a truly amazing camera. Specifically, I'm struggling to sync them so that I can control the Z2-C light exposure directly from the QPro without having to manually adjust each flash on the stand. I've reached out to NEEWER several times for support but haven't had much luck, and I'm beginning to consider switching to Godox products instead. I am thinking your Prograde Gold card could be the older generation card, the card I am using here is the Gen 4.0 card and they are a lot faster and more thermally efficient thankfully. The older cards overheated very quickly alright. I am looking at testing a few more cards going forward to see how much of a difference there is between them, I just need to get my hands on a few different makes now.

I have a different strobe but it has a similar menu, and it's hard to find any good videos on it. I purchased the S101-300W PRO, along with the QPRO-C. No matter what I do, I cannot get TTL mode to work with this combo, even though both are supposed to be compatible with each other and the camera (R6 Mark II). It works fine in manual mode (on the trigger), but I cannot get it to work in TTL mode. It will not fire the flash when I depress the shutter. The only time I could get it to actually fire in TTL mode is if I turn "shoot" mode on, on the trigger. But this way, I have no flash control in the camera. I'm actually locked out of the in-camera menu as if the camera thinks there is no flash or trigger attached. I would have to control everything exclusively from the trigger. On the strobe, it always says "M", there is no way to move it into Multi or TTL mode, even when I change it in the camera.

Hi, I am not very familiar with the S101-300W PRO flash but I was just looking through the specs there now and it appears that model doesn't support TTL unfortunately, it's a true manual flash, now in S2 mode you can use it with TTL apparently as it is supposed to use the pre flash to gauge the brightness needed or judged to be needed by the camera. I am not sure how accurate that would be though or more importantly how consistent it would be. There is a note in the instruction manual about the S2 option and TTL and how it works it's on page 5 of the instruction manual under "S2 Mode", if you can't find the manual you can download it on the Neewer website. I generally only ever use manual mode on my flashes unless I am moving around an awful lot and varying compositions a lot too. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.

@@kieranhayesphotography Hello. No you've been a big help. I think I'm going to return my S101, and either get the Q300 (same features, no TTL or no HSS, but is battery powered), or grab the Q3 and use it with a bowens adapter and softbox. I have one more question, though. The modeling light, did you have it on brightness 1? How bright can it get? Is it bright enough that it will show through a softbox, or is it meant to be used with a bare flash? It seemed really dim in your demo.

Looks similar ti the Godox AD200 - Does it have a bare bulb option too ? 🦘

Hi Roy, it's very similar to the AD200 but no it doesn't have a bare bulb option. Maybe there will be a pro option available with the bare bulb option too one of these days. It's crazy cheap for what you get though. I use it with a silicone dome magnetic modifier if I want to use it with a soft box, that works well.

I am not sure about that. I was playing with that a while ago but I didn't have the MS150C at the time. Common sense would say they should be compatible but with patents now you never know. Sorry I can't answer your question.

I appreciate this. I did a similar vlog recently at the edge of a typhoon in Japan (still in the edit). It looks calm, but I talked a bit about the same stuff. Grew up in Seattle, lived in Hawaii and Mexico, and always was taught to never turn your back on the waves. Beyond that, I also find it hard to vlog because my focus is on the sea, and I just want to take pics and stay safe.

Thanks a million for watching and for the feedabck I appreciate it. Wow Hawaii and Mexico, so you are used to large waves also. A typhoon now that sounds interesting :-) Thankfully we don't get anything like that here it just rains a lot :-)

@@kieranhayesphotography Yes, especially Mexico. I used to boogie board 15 foot faced waves fairly regularly. Got hit by a shark once (not bit just hit). Typhoons make for some epic scenery, but this one made me look silly cause the sea looked really calm, but knowing it was off the shore I was being very cautious of freak waves. Meanwhile Japanese fishermen were going places I dare not.
