good test, it's a bit funny to see you pull out the big adaptor and a long extension cord when you could have plugged into the power outlet on the front of the backseat 😀

I enjoyed the upside down video snippets; for you Aussie viewers. :) Great video. Ordered my Wind+ (the mid range model without the Harmon-Kardon sound system, sun roof, heads up display) in the same colour. I'm not sure if the V2L is included with this model. Does the car not come with a standard electric plug in the cabin? My Ford PHEV has two.

@@frankgooding443 The app says 4.3 km per kwh. Don't know if this is right, but what I do over the long term is take the energy the cars recuperated away from the energy its used. Divide the km driven by this number. This gives 6.7km per kwh

What is this "Party Piece" that you showed off? I'm in the USA and researching getting one of these and this is the first video I've seen mention this feature. Is it EU only? Is it called something else over here? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I don't know if it is fitted for all markets, but in New Zealand, my Niro has a 230 volt, 16 amp socket inside the car. It's on the front face of the rear seats, just below the squab. The people I bought the car from live in an area hit by serious flooding a few weeks ago. They were without electricity for ten days, and managed to keep their refrigerator cold enough to save their food for the whole time, just using the Niro's V2L socket. (That adaptor you used in the video was not required.)

Have you test driven the Cupra Born? What would be your pick? Both similar money leased. Also, what would you miss about the Leaf, switching from that to this?
@TheAAie Жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas! Although the Cupra looks great, I'd probably have the Niro...for me it's such a great all-rounder. I suppose in reality I wouldn't miss much from the LEAF to this as it's kitted out so well. Thanks for the comment!

Latest MG5 is around £10,000 cheaper, depending on which version. Similar battery size at 61 kWh, estate car practicality and comes with 7-year warranty. Is the E-Niro worth the extra cost?
@TheAAie2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question Chris, and thanks for posting it. We'd say the Niro has an extra 35ish miles real world range. There's definitely a difference in interior quality also. But you make a good point...for a lot of people the price difference isn't justified. Thanks again!

@TheAAie2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there's huge demand for it alright, and that's not surprising! On the prices though, the gap is bigger. Basic Niro EV is from around 42, whereas basic EV6 will set you back around 55 in Ireland. Your point still stands though about the MG perhaps being better value. Thanks for the comment! Cool car,never had any problem with,I made already 55k miles in 6 mos.Good for daily commuting,make sure you don’t have to exceed daily range of the battery,otherwise charging time will kill you,and you will become worst enemy of EV cars
@PiefacePete46 Жыл бұрын
@Huba Buba : The slow charging speed has to be the weakest point of an otherwise excellent car. We agonised long and hard before deciding . We had four years with a BMW 330e plug-in hybrid, and, despite having only 24 km of battery-only range, more than 85% of our motoring was on battery alone. (We mainly do short trips, apart from 1 or 2 four-hour trips per year.) We swapped our electricity plan to one giving three hours free per day... this will result in transport with no fuel cost, apart from the trips I mentioned above. And... Oh, Yes... we did buy the Niro! Only had it a few days... still learning... but so far really like it. One thing to keep in mind: make sure all the features you see on KZbin are included in your country. The Kia app is not supported in New Zealand, for instance, and there are other differences.

I wonder if any tests have been done on possible snow and ice accumulation in that 3-pillar gap? I live in Quebec (Canada), and our winters are pretty severe (as you probably know), with approx 200 cm of snow per season, and a lot of salt and other abrasives laid down on the road surfaces over 3-4 months.
@TheAAie2 жыл бұрын
Good point Steve. I'd imagine that they have thought about it, considering the amount of testing done. Or maybe they just don't think it matters really. It very marginally helps with aerodynamics, so if it was blocked on a few occasions a year then maybe it's just not an issue for them. Thanks for the comment!

Having just completed a 2000km road trip in my 2021 Kia eNiro, I have to say your review doesn't hit on one of the key downsides of these which is charging speed. Range is important for road trips but charging speed is also very important. Having to wait 1-1.5 hours at DC chargers when I would rather be on my way to my destination was a disappointment.

My Niro EV 4 is 11 days old and I’m already having issues. The car often (3 times so far) refuses to move into gear. It seem it’s immobilised! I turn the car off and lock it then go back a few minutes later and it will start ok. Not good for a car that cost 43k
@TheAAie Жыл бұрын
We suggest you call back to the garage you bought it from, might be a simple answer to the problem. But it is a very good car, you may have just been extremely unlucky to get a faulty one. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
@PiefacePete46Ай бұрын
A bit of a laugh... We decided to bring home a bed... too long for the load-space, but easy to secure with the tailgate open a bit. It's an EV, so it's not going to gas us with carbon monoxide, right? We set with a door-open warning on the display, and some "Bong, Bong, Bong", but this eventually went away. When we stopped at a T intersection, the built-in Safety Troll said "Enough"! It locked the transmission, flashed scary warnings on the displays, and set off an alarm that would wake the dead! We turned everthing off, restarted it, and managed to get home without actually stopping again; that needed some really fancy timing at the traffic lights! Don't get me wrong; we are in love with the car, would never go back to the BMW's we have driven for more than forty years.

I find it crap to drive. The noise from the wheels is far too loud when driving. I hate the regen and everything else about this EV. Give me a diesel engine anytime and oh for a basic car like we had in the 1970's, no mod cons and able to service it yourself, I'll never get another EV.
