Thanks for this series Lee, I've just bought a T-Rex740 and want to run it on ArduCopter so will be following with great interest to see how you do it 👍

Hi Lee, O-my , how beautiful. I haven't flown a large heli since the 90s. I had a T-rex with a .61 K/B. I would be so nervous building this. But if I was younger I would love it. I think I'm going to stay with the M2. Thanks again for the video and information about this heli

Great review and descriptions!! I got my M4 and built it a few days ago! The build - my first ever kit build was going very, very smooth. Everything was fitting well, the precision of the parts is great. Cant wait to get her in the sky!!

Beautiful machine, fantastic overview! This is the video I have been waiting for. After having built a couple of INAV Chinooks out of M1, M2 and Goblin Fireball parts, it is time for something larger. Now waiting for some cash to cross my way, then spend it on two M4 bundles and a Pixhawk. Looking forward to the maiden.

Hi Buddy, long time! Hope you're well. Got mine up and running. So if you run a 2200Mah at around 1850rpm, with light 3D you can get a whopping 12 min flight time! Definitely some lovely efficiency gains from this well optimised direct-drive.

Damn that motor is insane. Lol looks top notch though. They have some really nice stuff

399 USD .. 8 min fly time.. build kit with limited quantities .. tuning and adjustment with good build quality .. this checks all the boxes .. wanna move up from the Wltoys V series heli's .. this might be it .. cheers !

For those that are wondering, Jonas Wackershauser is the designer of the M4. He also designed both the M1 & M2 EVO helicopters, plus he is one of the developers of AccuRC Precision Simulator. Jonas is fricken amazing. =^/,..,^=
@Zikatus Жыл бұрын
how do you know that the M1 and M2 are designed by that person ?
@LGBender Жыл бұрын
@@Zikatus They aren't. Jonas is heavily involved in OMP, but he didn't design the M1/M2.

Looking forward to seeing your aducopter setup. I have a number of older electric helis that use the old microbeast and I would love to upgrade them to a modern flight controller. I believe neither Betaflight nor iNAV have any real helicopter support - is that correct?

Yep, pretty much. Ardupilot understands things like swash mixing. Excited to try and set it up! Stay tuned!

Why not have a separate motor for the tail like the smaller models ?
@Painless360 Жыл бұрын
Variable pitch tails are far better for more spriried flying and control in both directions. You can have the tail 'push' in both directions and not just rely on the counter torque from the main rotor for one side... Happy flying
@winstonsmith7801 Жыл бұрын
@@Painless360 Fair enough , I just thought for ease of maintenance , a tail motor would be easier.

Still have 3 old helicopters in my garage and in storage. Even with these new models I just never got the bug to fly them again. Wish I could sell my old 700 size heli too. Nobody wants to buy it.

ArduHeli! I've been wanting to do something like that myself! Ultimate goal is an ArduChinook for heavy lift autonomy!

I've wanted to do an ardupilot helicopter for ages too. But I feel like I need to finish mounting the flight controller into my plane I was intending to run ardupilot on too.... That project started before Coronavirus. Every time I get inspired to do anything about it, I either can't find some part I need, or I can't decide how I'm going to mount something, and I give up in frustration (with myself more than the project - it's pretty basic stuff really).
