How i see touchless i also see rinseless. I think pan has said it best. They dont mean you dont rinse or you dont touch, but if theres heavy grime you can pre rinse. Regardless of the word "touchless" or "rinseless" I always pre rinse because you just never know sometimes. one of my absolute favorite touchless soaps thats super super freakin slept on is WashChems Pro 100. When I say that thing bites hard into dirt and removes it, it does. its pH level is 12 but regardless of its power I still pre rinse any vehicle i work on because i know this Nevada dust is no joke. Now could that tamper with the ph balance when foaming on to an already wet car? yea very much so. but with wash chems dilution being 4:1, i know that im using about 8.5 oz of product. is that really cost effective? not at all, but the pre rinse water isnt diluting that soap at all. Ik some people like to have the foam neutralized when hitting the panel, but for me If its not neutralized on the panel, my rinsing off will do that. or you can even use less pro 100 in your foam cannon making the soap a tad bit weaker and getting it to neutralize on the panel. ofc you'll sacrifice sudsing action.

Thanks for the video. I only recently found your channel and am really enjoying your content. I had never been a believer in pre-wash chemicals, especially with an APC, as I've found they never really did much of anything. After using Bilt Hamber for the first time I was blown away. It's the first pre-wash, that, on a moderately to slightly dirty car (similar to yours in the video), where I could literally walk away, if I wanted to, after rinsing with DI water. I can't bring myself to do it, but certainly could in a pinch for time. I use an IK Foam Pro 12, so I don't have to worry about calculating PIR ratios as it relates to a foam cannon output connected to your pressure washer. I use 6L of water in the IK which leaves the perfect amount of space to then adequately pressurize the 6L to get around the entire car. 6L also allows for easy math where at 2% PIR (120 ml) is roughly 4 ounces for conversion purposes (low end of dilution ratio since my cars are rarely extremely dirty). I can get 2 washes out of this amount of chemical (so approximately 2oz / wash). I bought the 5L large container of Bilt Hamber Touch-Less (v1) which has lasted me 2 entire wash seasons. With v2, that I just purchased, the equivalent cleaning power requires just 0.5% PIR, so it gets even more cost effective (4x). One questions I would ask regarding your use is do you use the entire contents of your foam cannon on a single wash when calculating your cost / wash?
@FineDetailingAZАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! I agree using it in a foamer would be easier then calculating the PIR but I did it once so I'm good now. I do use the entire contents. I calculated my price based on using 500ml water/4.5oz of product. A half cannon is enough for my whole car.
@johnsortinoАй бұрын
@@FineDetailingAZ That's a half foam canon though with 4.5oz, so you're using 4.5oz / wash?
@FineDetailingAZАй бұрын
@ correct! Based on my PIR of 2% it calls for 4.5oz. It’s a lot but the product is cheap

I think what makes the difference is how you rinse with the pressure washer. For example, IMHO, You haven’t rinse enough the driver door with the pressure washer. Same for the bottom part. You haven’t rinse at all the bottom part to lift the dirt. The pressure washer is the only way to lift the dirt after the a 5 minutes dwell. I think you should pressure rinse more even and a bit closer to the surface. Maybe do 2 doors next to each others and pressure rinse both of them in an even way and closer to the surface. And maybe start rinsing from bottom to top at first. You rinse more on the hood and you can see the results on your towel. Could you do a second video to try it out? I think doing so, you might have different results? Cheers 🤘🏼

Thanks for watching. I did go back off camera on rinse everything more in depth I just had to edit it down to keep the video length shorter. I rinsed both sides of the vehicle equally even though it wasn't all on camera. I won't redo the video but in the future I'll make sure to show the full rinse of each side as it seems to be important to people. In my humble opinion, bottom to top or top to bottom doesn't make much of a difference. As long as you get the pressure washer over the area that handles most of the work.

@FineDetailingAZАй бұрын
@@FrankoDetails thanks man…I’ve been toying with the idea of doing a test like this. I think decon and touchless shampoos are essentially the same thing. Most a higher pH. So could be worth testing the cleaning power of a good neutral shampoo like reset or pans vs a bilt hamber or labo. Or like diy style…foam rinse foam using their soap. Their soap is 8.5ph though so not totally neutral. I assume you mean neutral when you say regular shampoo.
@FrankoDetailsАй бұрын
@ yes sir….reg/neutral but that also brings up the point of the higher ph’ers, could they not also be considered touch-less? specialty shampoos like descale’s, lifts, detail co acid and alk’s, pretty much do the work of pre-cleaning but what makes a touch-less special 😜

Im just not a fan of touchless. If you are in a city/suburbs i get it but for me im in vt . We have like 3 seasons summer , winter and mud . Alot of dirt roads and dirt or whatever driveways. If the vehicle is coated then sure , i use gyeon, but if it's not i not going to over think it . Paint most generally is not in great shape anyway . Would need more steps depending on what the customers are looking for .

@FineDetailingAZ what I mean is that if the vehicle isn't dripping with mud , dirt or whatever like 90% of the cars in my state are , I'm not going to bother with prewashing foam unless it's coated . Even then alot will come off with pw anyway . In cities you have alot more road film /dust and the like of which prefoaming /touchless would make more sense.

Good information but in the video you never rinsed the lower section of the doors with the pressure of the pressure washer on the optimum side. You just sprayed the upper section and let the water run down to remove the optimum. Going by my only experience with a touchless wash you need to rinse from the bottom up and you need the pressure of the pressure washer to remove some of the dirt (chem-x process). Now we do not know if you did this same exact process on the BH side because it only shows you rinsing the hood. I think you gave us a good idea of how to compare these two touchless wash products but I do think better results would have been achieved with the optimum if you actually used the pressure of the pressure washer over the whole entire vehicle and this is just my opinion. I ordered a gallon of the Optimum before I watched this video and it will be here Tuesday. I'll perform my own wash with the optimum and I may very well get the same results, we'll see.
@FineDetailingAZАй бұрын
Thanks for watching, I edited the videos to shorten the length, but I rinsed them both equally as I always want to ensure a fair test. I think on the OPT side I cut at 11:08? I did one more once over off camera. I also don't ever get super close with the pressure washer and I use a 40 degree nozzle the test was the same in my opinion. Rinsing from the bottom makes zero difference other then leaving the product on the surfaces for a matter of seconds longer... also just my opinion an experience and you're entitled to yours as well!

@@CCMINC Bottom up rinsing is an excellent way to keep track of where you've been. After following this method with Chem-X Stars and Stripes, I actually find myself using it for many rinsing situations. One other thing that I find helpful... Do all the vertical surfaces around the whole vehicle and then when rinsing the roof, hood, and trunk is the best time to switch to a top-down rinse as an "insurance" rinse.
@Matthew-2206Ай бұрын
Was excited to see the new Optimum Touchless in action, but disappointed with the test itself. 2:10 basically "I'm not going to follow the manufacturer's instructions. Hopefully that's fair" It also doesn't appear that you really rinsed as thoroughly in the lower panels as you did with the Bilt Hamber. The places you did rinse thoroughly were mostly clean and the lowers where you didn't weren't clean. I know you mentioned you did another onceover at 11:08 but we as a viewer can't see that, it just looks like you were walking away to put down the pressure washer. I do appreciate the price per L/oz breakdown, that is incredibly helpful imo. I use the Bilt Hamber (v1) from a pump sprayer and I find it to be amazing. It seems to be in a class of its own. I did find having to calculate the PIR to be annoying which is why I chose to use a pump sprayer instead of a foam cannon, but at the end of the day you only have to do it once and then you know for every time moving forward. I didn't really think the Optimum product would be better but was hoping to see a more "fair" test. Either way, I still appreciate you showcasing the products and doing it outside. This is also helpful for a majority of the population who doesn't have a climate controlled detailing space.
@FineDetailingAZАй бұрын
Thanks for watching. The only instructions I didn't follow were to pre-rinse the car. I never pre rinse as I fundamentally believe that can cause damage to paint by pushing the dirt across the surface. So, because of that belief I didn't pre rinse either side so in my opinion that was a fair comparison. As most viewers attention span is quite short avg watch duration 6-7 min I try and trim video where I can. I can assure you I sprayed both sides equally. I did walk away to set the pressure washer down then I noticed some soap leaking out of door jamb so I walked back to rinse the lower again (off camera). While I want to capture every single detail on camera for people it can become a super long video.

I use 2% PIR BH Touchless when the dirt is really bad. It's awesome. In fact, I used it this afternoon. The Camry was crusty white all over from the week of Lake Effect snow in PA. Not washed in two weeks. Today, it was in the low 40's with some sun (T-shirt weather!), and the snow was melting. Time to wash... BH Touchless foamed on and rinsed with the pressure washer (Bottom up!). Carpro Reset foam contact wash (1 bucket, multiple wash pads). Rinse. Blow dry, followed by a towel and rinseless spray to get the remaining drips and clean behind the doors, trunk etc. After the BH, the car looked really clean already, and just needed a contact wash to restore the beading around the lower half of the car. BH works really well up in the wheel wells, no scrubbing needed. Pan's 8-year coating is holding up very well!

When using a touchless product, pressure washing is actually what is doing the cleaning. The water pressure is in essence doing the “contact” portion of the wash. I read that you don’t believe that doing a bottom up rinse changes much, but by ensuring that you get good coverage with the pressure during the rinse is the point of it. You want to be close to the paint. Using an electric pressure washer, 1.2-2 gpm at 1000 psi and a 40 degree nozzle is pretty safe to get nice and close which will greatly increase your outcome when using touchless wash. The chemical by itself does not clean. It needs the pressured rinse to actually remove contaminates.
@FineDetailingAZАй бұрын
@@JasonStAmand thanks for watching. I agree with everything you said. Bottom up makes zero difference as long you are getting coverage on all areas of the paint. As some are highly upset I didn’t show me fully spraying all panels on camera I will show it all next time and just make a longer video.

With all due respect, in your palm tree & cactus environment these products are kind of useless. I'm in Montreal, Canada and use BiltHamber only for my winter washes(100% touchless) which are far & few in between(once a month Dec. - March) and it works well at removing caked on salt & grime.
@FineDetailingAZАй бұрын
Ahhh so your dirt is the only dirt worthy of Bilt Hamber? Got it. Nowhere on bilt hamber's website does it say "this product should only be used for salt and and grime and once a month." While we don't have snow here we do have excessive dust and dirt. The purpose of a touch-less style wash is meant to be a safer alternative to just rinsing the vehicle. The surfactants encapsulate the contamination regardless of what it is...salt, dirt, or dust. I realize it might be dark and cold where you live and your attitude might reflect that but no need to take it out on my palm trees and cacti ; )
@jeffc6832Ай бұрын
I wish my cars were only that dirty after 4 weeks. 😂 I've found when using "Touchless" type prewashes that my pressure washing technique can have a big impact on the effectiveness. I make sure to angle the wand, manage distance and overlap passes as required to get off as much dirt as possible. Doing that makes a pretty substantial difference. BH Touch-Less is amazing and I think it's very safe relative to it's pH and cleaning performance, but I'm hoping that OPT Touchless Decon will be something I can use as a more conservative/gentle option. OPT's marketing and descriptions leaves something to be desired, but I think the "touchless maintenance wash" aspect of this is intended for very lightly dirty vehicles (ideally coated) vehicles on a very regular basis (probably weekly). If the dirt is heavier than that, or you need to do a deep clean decon wash, it requires agitation. BH Touch-Less on the other hand is intended to tackle heavier dirt, salt and grime and rely less on agitation. I'll be doing my own tests here soon, with some serious MN winter grime and salt. I'm trying to dial in my winter wash process and want to see how the products I have stack up and how I can best utilize them.
@FineDetailingAZАй бұрын
Yup to be honest, BH is higher pH but it's safer so I would have no problem using it more regularly. I think there are better options then OPT for pre wash. Labo Primus 2.0 is perfect and VDA cert. I did hit the panels off camera to make it a fair test for sure.
