Don't know if im just going crazy, but in this performance I noticed that all the members of the band are really sad and kind of missing someone... I think it took a long time to New Order members to realize that Ian passed away RIP Ian and long live Joy Division and New Order!

Yeah, they definitely have a haunted aura about them here, but strangely, it feels like they’re using that haunted feeling that they seem to have to drive them-and I don’t think they were even aware of it. Seeing this gives me both a feeling of sadness and of respect for them. How strange and emotional these times must have been been for them!
@odw_994 жыл бұрын
That’s true, but I think it’s also down to them just not being comfortable at the forefront, because Ian had done it so well for the few years previously, he was difficult to replace

Saw New Order in Wellington, New Zealand on 6 December, 1982. They played the whole of "Movement" plus one song I did not recognise. Close as I will ever get to seeing Joy Division.

For the record, they played the whole of "Movement" plus one song that I did not recognise. They sounded like the record - very tight performance. But the gig lasted less than an hour which did piss me off.

Love this tune. I know it's a tribute to Ian Curtis and really, always thought it could have been a Joy Division song. It shares the same spirit and darkness. Think that with True Faith (which is very different), this is the best New Order did. 💎👍❤️

Love the rythm section of Hooky's six string and Stevie Morris like a metronome hitting the skins. Fuckin boss. Great track, could well have been a Joy Division song. Enjoy !

Somehow, I don't think that was the idea, if they wanted to that, they could have continued calling themselves Joy Division. Although it references a Joy Division song, these aren't Curtis's lyrics.

My promise could be your fiend A given end to your dreams A simple movement or rhyme Could be the smallest of signs We'll never know what they are or care In it's escapable view There's no escape so few in fear Give in a changing value To be given your sight Hid in a long peaceful night A nervous bride for your eyes A fractured smile that soon dies A love that's wrong from your life and soul A savage mine had begun Hello, farewell to your love and soul Hello, farewell to your soul Now I know what those hands would do No looking back now, we're pushing through We'll change these feelings, we'll taste and see But never guess how the him would scream But never guess how the him would scream But never guess how the him would screa

Curtis brought the 'x factor' to the band so in my opinion New Order were never and would never be as good as Joy Division, although they made some great tracks (Dreams Never End being one of them). Peter Hook fought to keep New Order from going full electronic but in the end Sumner basically killed the bass; turning it down when mixing songs or leaving it out completely.
