PLEASE NOTE: This episode does contain lots of insects!! If that "bugs" you, once you get to about the 3:20 mark or so, you can skip to 8:45 if you'd like to see just the butterflies, OR 11:08 if you don't want to see any critters at all (though you might miss some choice bug jokes...) :P ~Jay

Ok, we need to go back to NOLA. We need a redo since we went in July and it was stinkin hot and there was some sort of music festival so it was chaotic. Thanks for sharing!

Oh wow, there were a few things going on while we were there, like the fried chicken festival and the 20th anniversary parade at Harrah's, but we still had a ball rolling around the city!! :D

You did right with Mother's for lunch. Go for the gumbo or jambalaya, not the po' boys, and only go to the French Market location of Cafe du Monde and get beignets and chicory cafe au lait for breakfast. Another lunch spot is the fried chicken at Willie Mae's Scotch House.
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
The food at Mother's was great, and we probably would've eaten more if we didn't already have more snack and dinner plans lined up, ha ha... :P

We went on our first cruise out of New Orleans and that was the first time we were there as well. We loved the city and the architecture!! Did you find the streetcar named Desire? 🤣 The insect museum was cool; I'd be into looking at most of those creepy crawlies as long as they aren't landing on me and biting me. And you got to experience 2 rainbows so yay for rainy days! Thanks PDJ!

Eating beignets and riding streetcars in New Orleans isn’t “the plan”. It’s just a legal requirement. Like visiting the Space Needle in Seattle, or riding cable cars in S. F. We are visiting NOLA next month, and doing that exact same cruise, so I will be taking notes during this whole series😉.
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
Glad to know we fulfilled the legal requirements of New Orleans, ha ha... we've got one more episode coming out tomorrow with a few more legal boxes ticked... :P

@Parodeejay hey guys do you recall how far away your hotel was from the French quarter and how much the Uber was? Thanks!
@parodeejay4 жыл бұрын
We were about halfway between the airport and downtown. The Uber was about a 15-20 minute ride and cost about $25 one-way for a standard car.

Fun! I've only been to NOLA for Mardi Gras and while we explored a bit on foot, I didn't go through the city like y'all did. I wanna ride a street car! Can't wait to see what you got up to that night!
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
The streetcar was definitely a cool experience, and we did the entire St. Charles loop which took about two hours from the time you leave the Canal St area to the time they get you back there. But for $1.25 a person... heck yeah!! :D

My wife and I went to NOLA a few years back, and had probably the best trip we've had together. There is so much to do in the city itself, and the history just flows around every corner. Did you do any of the ghost tours? If not, you need to check at least one out. We did two on our trip, and each was unique and full of fun insight. I'm having fun reliving our trip through your eyes. :)
@parodeejay4 жыл бұрын
We talked about doing some sort of ghost tour but didn't. It's a great city for it for sure!! :D

@@parodeejay Yeah, you really should check out the ghost tours, especially since you get to carry around a hurricane while on the tour! 😉

Since you guys and other cruise Vlogers use a uber on their trips can you maybe include in a vlog what it cost and how do you verify that you have the correct driver etc. Also if you can give any tips when using Ubers.
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
Huh, never thought about that! Usually when you sign up for Uber or Lyft, there's a little crash course in safety right there on the app. Interesting!!

Had to fast forward pass the bugs and reptiles.eeeewwww! Nice fish and butterflys though. That wasn't the original Cafe De Monte. The parade looks like the Mardi Gras floats
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
Oh yep, we mentioned in the video that we weren't going to the original location that day, but we were hitting it the following day. It looks like those floats belonged to the Harrah's Casino, and they had just finished their 20th anniversary parade which we didn't even know was going on... super cool to see the floats go by though even if the parade was over!! :D
