You missed one easter egg with this update and the banana scroll If you take it to the ATP and send yourself back in time at the end of the loop while holding the banana, the next loop if you visit Self in the ATP beside them will be the Banana scroll with the banana turned into jelly. Another reference to Stienz;gate that I absolutely love Thank you Outer Wilds for being a masterpiece
@PixelOverload6 ай бұрын
Lol, that's extra funny 'cause it implies the guy in SG was wrong to assume he can't use this method to send back material objects 'cause his banana test turned to jelly, apparently that only happens to bananas 😂
@zachbowles45166 ай бұрын
@@PixelOverload which would be hilarious canon, but sadly the anime explains that the people sent back in time by SERN were also turned into goo
@WackoMcGoose6 ай бұрын
@@zachbowles4516 Maybe it's only _Terran_ matter that turns into goo, while Hearthian (and presumably Nomaian) matter can travel intact? Also: "I have done nothing but teleport bread for three days."

I commented this in another video, but in Steins:Gate they also use a black hole to send the messages/signals through time, so it's a neat comparison with Outer Wilds. The banana is the first object they try to send back in time using the black hole (via a modified microwave) and it came back as a gooey jelly, proving that physical matter cannot safely travel back in time (at least with their current technology). Thus they decide to send something inmaterial, like phone signals, messages that can alter a person's understanding and thus their actions, in a butterfly effect that affects the rest of the timeline. Eventually, they even manage to send an entire being's memories as these signals through time, which is the most direct comparison with Outer Wilds. The orange numbers in the apparatus (in Outer Wilds numbering your loops) is part of another machine that is used in Steins:Gate to detect which worldline (AKA, another sort of timeline) the MC is "currently" at. Whenever he sends his memories back in time, and depending on what has changed compared to the original worldline, the numbers are different. The main objective of the series becomes to reach a specific number, which would mean they've completely changed worldlines (again, think of those as clusters of timelines). "El Psy Congroo" is a silly secret code the MC from Steins:Gate uses at the end of some dialogues for reasons that would be lengthy and spoilery to explain in detail. The only thing you need to know is that he has the Eighth Grade Syndrome (or Chuunibyou) and acts as if an evil organization is tracking his communications. All in all, the Easter Egg is very well done and they chose a great story to make the comparison. I definitely recommend anyone that likes Outer Wilds to go and watch the anime, believe me that I haven't really spoiled much, most of what I said can be seen either in the trailer or in the first episodes.

The orange numbers are a type of number display called a "nixie tube". It's one of the many technologies used to display information from a device prior the to invention of CRT monitors and LCD displays.
@@TheAechBomb nixie tubes are dope looking so I'm glad steins;gate revived them.

The shape of the writing is a reference to the Lab Member Badge from the anime, and also, the banana is a reference to the first experiment with the time traveling microwave. As a fan of Steins;Gate I was so happy to see it! El Psy Kongroo

El psy Congroo is also a code to end a message in steins gate (which is mostly just a silly catchfrase)
