I believe an intercooler is next on the list... The factory one is a joke! How's the 481 doing? Andy
@danielwilson66657 ай бұрын
The Ford engineers had to compromise on the size of the intercooler due to packaging constraints. I agree that the factory piece is barely adequate. BigBlock402 is correct about the necessity of an aftermarket unit. I think DV would agree… gotta go for it 🏁

What if you add a divider fin. Between the radiator and air box intake. In front of the grill. And add an aluminum sheet metal that just blocks the heat from the radiator so it the air box doesn't heat soak the radiator heat. Just allow aluminum metal absorb the heat. While still having the air box insulated. Just a thought.

I spray my intercooler and air box with water as I'm lining up for every run, whether it's autocross or drag strip. And keep the hood open as long as I can. When you can keep the intake air temps below 110 degrees, this car is pretty happy.

Can't you have manual gear change in there? to make gear changes longer, that's nearly as fast as the GT Shaker 351 Ford, when it came out, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
@coyote_chaser4 ай бұрын
Yes, the 10R80 transmission is highly tuneable! With the correct hardware/software, a good tuner can program the transmission to shift manually at the desired rpm (per gear) 19:09 levels to be competitive, even without the factory 01A electronic package (driver modes/paddle shifters). You can download the additional ecu/tcm adjustable settings (OS) from HPtuners and make the changes in performance to win races. Start by reviewing the rear output shaft maximum settings per transmission gear settings.

@rolandotillit28677 ай бұрын
@@DavidVizard From a purely design perspective, ideally you'd want a converging duct, a straight section and a diverging duct(diffuser). Like the people who used diffusers in the Roman aqueducts to get extra water from the opening assigned to them.

8.27 is pretty solid! My EcoBoost Mustang is set up for the road course but I'll go down a strip from time to time. Looking at my last win slip I was 8.51 on the 1/8th, but 0.003 reaction (verrrrry lucky 😅) and 1.850 on the 60 foot. My car's a stick and I enjoy rowing the gears but the automatics these days can shift quicker than any human can! I'm in the Statesville area, work in Concord. @danielwilson66657 ай бұрын
@@UnityMotorSportsGarageDo what you and DV feel is best Andy, but if you think the stock ECM is doing weird things with the tune now due to the changing conditions, a shot of nitrous will cause digital confusion until you get the tune perfected. Sure the performance will improve but consistency might become a big problem. You already know the Ecoboost is a solid performance package. You’re doing a great job of optimizing its real performance potential.
