I had issues installing the pioneer 4200 I couldn't get the screen to close, it was hitting off my dash, i had to trim it alittle. Other than that I love the unit

+Jose V No the video never stated that, The 8100NEX is also compatible with idata link maestro RR. These are just the updated 2016 NEX models. So the 8100(which is the 2015 model) and 8200(the 2016 model) are almost identical besides a few updates and additions given to the 8200

+Jose V We get into the new features at the 1:48 mark of our video! The price difference between the 8100NEX and the 8200NEX is $200, so I think it comes down to whether you want to go for the upgraded one. They're both really great radios, by no means is the 8100 obsolete. But the 8200 adds the new features including my personal favorite where it allows you functionality over climate control and can check out car status like gauges and tire pressure. +Emilio21melo Via the HDMI input yes. All models have an HDMI input except for the 5200NEX. It doesn't play Blu-Ray discs, only DVD's and CD's, but you can connect a Blu-Ray player to the HDMI port and output the video from the Blu-Ray player into the radio

Yeah and its basically the same exact thing that was out at the end of 2015? No different...car play was even on that model. They should focus on the cons and do a refresh! What cons you say?: 1.) The 15 second boot up time EVERY DAMN TIME THE THING LOSES POWER/STARTS UP!!! I mean seriously Pioneer what is up with this! My 1970 radio when I turn the knob to on would play immediately! Huge step backwards here! 2.) The favorites start is buried and not on the main screen like was on previous models. What logically bonehead did this? I mean its there for a quick and easy access to menus buried so that with 1 click you can get to them without having to dig. Dumb to move it off the main screen! 3.) While the graphic eq is better then what they had out 3 years ago before the NEX models came along, its still lacking behind for the times. It also could so easily be fixed. Its software!!!!! Add more bands in the upper range!!! 14khz, 16.5khz, 18 or 20 khz. This would make it a fully complete range eq. Humans hear 20-20khz....you should make an eq that can adjust the whole range. 4.) The "box" layout. I know the whole android and iphone layout wave hit 3 years ago when the most recent OS updates. Killed off 3D icons, shadows and colors....A simplier is better approach and OK I can get past it. But Pioneer to do their box layout for the OS sucked back 3 years ago. Its definitely no better now. For a company trying to stay on the edge and improve products...yeah...its time for an OS visual facelift again. 5.) Buggy and laggggy....get those connection problems fixed!!! No buddy likes it when you Pandora won't connect or when your flipping through menus and the thing freezes. End rant! Hope to see next years lineup be improved upon and not just rehashed out crap and making consumers think its so all great and powerful cause its now car Android Auto or Apple Car Play on it. Big whooop...not enough to get me to upgrade or buy a $700 unit.

+Xtremevette When the units are finally available we will do a video review and see what the start up times are. This unit did seem a bit quicker than the previous model but it was just our feeling, no data to back that up. What we have yet to understand is why they continue to use Windows CE. It would be far more interesting if they would make the OS open source so it could become a community platform, similar to Android or iOS and use ARM processing.

Quality Mobile Video you are absolutely right, the chinese ones last about a month or 2 and thats it, but at least they hit the nail on the head with their display and screens. The thing i dont understand is , why does pioneer ONLY use capacitive in their most expensive model? im waiting for the day that pioneer can use capacitive HD amoled type displays on all their double dins and get rid of their VGA 1980s/90s technology.

I've got the AVIC 8100NEX model, and regret it. The navigation software is awful. (It's too long to explain here... send me a message and I'll give you the compete details.) I regret buying this and won't buy another Pioneer product.
