I am in the process of installing a new red cedar ceiling in my patio. The only difficult part is finding planks that are good. The lumber company I purchased from sold me 16ft blanks, picked it up, 14 planks were bad and now I have to return them. They can't be used, have holes in them, broken grooves, tongues. It is really frustrating!!

The vinyl was actually nailed properly by not being driven home. Vinyl expands and contracts a lot. Leaving the nails just slightly loose allows for that without buckling. The new ceiling turned out awesome!
@benhart61693 жыл бұрын
Actually you drive the J- channel trim home it doesn’t need to move
@therealDonMac3 жыл бұрын
@@benhart6169 Actually, it does expand and contract. I hung vinyl siding for 15 years in Houston Texas. Every piece of vinyl will expand and contract. I should also mention, a few of the companies I contracted from required Alcoa certification, which I have.

I know how to fix those separate between the pallets between those panels are you doing is by get a strip, the same color and use that caulking that you guys use on the job and a staple gun and put one up on each strip end end but it up against the end piece your trim it will come out perfectthat’s what happens when you have a crooked ceiling. The best thing you can do. Nice job.
