The Macpherson strut was previously used not because it was cheap, but it was simple and effective enough to allow the previous 911 GT cars to do what they needed to do from a chassis dynamics point of view. The 992 GT cars however have had their engines moved much more forwards than previous cars, coupled with the rear axle setup, meant that the front end could be made to work much harder, hence the addition of the double wishbone setup.

The new GT3 has double wishbone suspension all around. I'm glad the GT3 is now up to Miata levels of performance engineering.

The 992 GT3 would the car I'd choose if I had to buy a one car currently in production. The PDK is an awesome gearbox and arguably the best of its type but I will always go for the added involvement of a manual especially one as slick as that on a GT3. Kudos to Porsche for still offering a large high revving naturally aspirated engine which sounds way better than any rivals.

I'd want a GT3 Touring with a PDK. I think the only modern Porsche I'd want with a manual would be a Targa (or like a Cayman). Basically, fast car should be fast, and the less fast car should be made to _feel_ faster (experience wise). Doesn't make sense to make a fast car slower so that it can feel faster.

Am I the only one who thinks the 991.2 looks waaayyy better? But its a road car for the track, function follows form , so who am I to judge.... Brilliant piece as always Raz, but the 991.2 is the one for me! It's a bit less expensive, already so good to drive and the interior so nice, I can't see myself jumping on the 992 from new.

3:26 9912 3RS is 521. Not the same on horsepower. 9:35 those are not steel brakes. Those are ceramics with calipers in black

Well…I wanted a GT3 before but now it is even better. I think it might be a perfect car..I would still try an AMG GTR as well but think that maybe the Porsche is the more perfectionist car…one of those please Raz……the PDK because of a leg problem from 20 years ago…but time to head to the configurator…I think a GT3 Touring could be the answer for me!!😀😀😀

I'm not so sure, they're gonna make a ton of these cars. If its a Limited-edition like the 911R, then yes, collector's item sure to appreciate in value, but a mainstream motorsport product, probably not. At the very least, it will hold it value better than a lot of the competitors.

Great, detailed review. From a spec perspective it looks like someone has swapped the wheels on the two cars. Prefer the dark wheel with blue accent on the blue car, although I’d take the silver wheels on either car as a preference.

1.5x more downforce on “full attack” is not solely from the swan neck design. New aero designs on the underside of the car contributes greatly to the additional downforce.

I really love this car but sure wish they would offer the interior in something other than just black without charging an arm and a leg. A touring with a full leather espresso or maybe a houndstooth insert would really give the "TOURING" model some richness and pop. Make it much more of a proper "gentleman's sports car." The colored stitching is nice, but not enough variety.
