Matt, once all the manuals are out of production, we will all be praising them. That Porsche probably has one of the best manual boxes ever created, I am sure it is fast and precise. Why not celebrate the fact that it may be one of the last manuals in a Porsche, instead of dissing it the whole time? Once we get self driving, electric, speed limited, soulless cars.... you will remember driving this Porsche very well.
@asdfghjk_2 жыл бұрын
Well said. Dissing manual gearboxes while conveniently ignoring the fact that this car is a limited edition collectors item, not an everyday driver and even comparing the ride to that of an estate car. If it only came in auto or if you had the choice of transmissions then I'm sure Matt would rant about how collectors cars should only be manual. And acting shocked when a limited edition collectors car that will drastically appreciate in value is more expensive than the mass produced Turbo S, how very controversial. Then explaining the unheard of draw backs of city driving with a manual gearbox and feeling the need to explain that you have to down shift.. to overtake.. when in 7th gear. Motoring journalism at its finest..

I just took my first driving lesson and I *chose* a manual car over automatic. I enjoyed myself, it was so cool to drive a car for the first time and I had a good time managing my clutch and “finding the biting point”. When I left my driving school though, my left leg was killing me. Maybe I need to experience driving faster and on an open road, but after that, I do not understand why a lot of people worship this three-pedal setup like god. I’m sure it’s super fun, but in my circles, it’s getting so cult-like, it’s almost as if people choose to ignore the “other option” completely.

Actually, it is like a normal 6 speed manual. But you can get into the long 7th gear (almost like the 8th gear of the PDK) from 6th to save fuel and to reduce engine noise. Sport Chrono Package is for free with the manual option and I would always go for Sport Chrono in a 911. But I have a problem: The PDK is also absolutely great. And it's faster. A normal Carrera (non S) would be fine for me with manual, but Porsche don't offers that option. Okay - I'm still too poor even for the entry level 911, so that's just fine. 11:40 I'm guessing the reason you can't get adaptive cruise control is because it's a manual gearbox. ACCs usually have "stop & go" which means the car can slow all the way down to a standstill and then start again when traffic moves again. That becomes difficult when the car can't change gears itself and has to rely on the driver changing the gears as the speed goes up or down.

@armoris662 жыл бұрын
The whole point of a manual box is for the "driver" to "drive" the car otherwise buy an auto. The point of a performance car is not how fast it sprints to 60mph (as that's not what a driver spends most of their time doing) but how well it performs on an open road or better still a track. Mat and his followers spend too much time placing emphasis on standing sprints.......that really isn't driving!

I've never heard of this thing until I watched this video, and it sounds like a real 911 greatest hits weapon. A 992, manual, 911 turbo? What more could a Porsche fan want, besides no turbos. But man, this thing will be an all time classic. I'm only 3 minutes in but I need to have a break already.

It’s wild to me that Matt doesn’t like manual transmissions. He’s the only car enthusiast/reviewer I’ve seen that doesn’t like manuals. Also, on the 0 to 60 he didn’t launch the car. Porsche manual transmissions still have launch control.

This is sick, but the fact it's such a big deal that it's a drivers car surely shows that they should make more manual, RWD, fun cars. It's not about the numbers, it's about the feel. So it's a shame that models like this are super rare and expensive
@ppourfal2 жыл бұрын
Adaptive Cruise Control is not available on manual gearbox Porsche cars for obvious reasons (e.g. speed fluctuations and the need for driver to intervene). I drive a manual Targa4s 992 almost daily in Europe and just love it.. of course it is more work but won’t change it for a PDK.

manuals aren't hard to launch. You're just launching off idle for some reason. You need to be up at 3000 rpm and give that a go. If you spin to much back it off to 2500 and keep trying until you find the hot spot.
