What do the three wires output when triggered? Is it voltage or just closed circuits with no volts?

The output is Signal LOW (Open Drain); no voltage.

We did not use the term "bi-directional" intentionally because it's less explicit than "Direction Sensing". All our sensor can detect from two directions, thus "bi-directional" does not add differentiation. (please edit your original comment for spelling, thx.)
