​@@chipchonkThat never stopped the PS3 before. The PS3 had full themes when you hovered over games before but they went away when you did other things in the menu. I think if themes were coming to PS5, some kind of middle ground could be made here where you could probably see the theme in the other menus that you browse through. But that would require full screens to show up through game base features are utilized. What I mean is that all the important information like friends, messages, etc is all in this little window that you cant really expand full screen. If it was possible to do that, maybe there could be a reason to implement and show the theme but since everything you need is in this small little drop down window, theres no real room for them as the system stands rn

I like to think that Sony and Nintendo are smart enough to realize that they would lose a significant number of customers if they went digital only. Being able to collect titles I like, sell games I don't, lend games to friends, and even borrow games from my local library are all huge advantages that consoles have over PC currently. If the next consoles were all digital, then at that point I might as well switch over to PC because the digital marketplace there is light-years ahead of what console manufacturers offer. Even now, I only buy physical games on consoles and buy my digital games to play on my Steam Deck.

This is the generation I discovered idgaf about ray tracing. We've seen just a tiny smidgen of it destroy the performance of games. It doesn't even look good if it's applied to a graphically pleasing game. Just give us 60fps and make the game as high resolution and fidelity as you can.

We like leisure, we like to play, we don't like toilsome, meaningless corporate jobs, but we do need to feel... needed. Speak for yourself, I certainly don't need a job to feel needed or worthwhile. I even tested this with long term unemployment and long term employment. I was far, far, happier and healthier while unemployed, with better personal relationships. The only problem was lacking money. I'm talking 5+ years without a job, and it was the best time of my life. But employment ruined all of that. The allure of money brought me into a trap where I'm miserable, in poor health, and no real meaning to my life except to fend off debt by continuing to waste my life working. I know I'm not representative of everyone, and some people get something valuable out of work, I know my parents have struggled to adjust to life in retirement. But it's definitely a problem society will never address, because it's complex and there isn't a single answer to it.

i work in telecommunications and yes it can be due to regulations and vast of other minor quirks. Basically Sony would of pushed out an update to allow admin connections.... this wouldn't be so secure because the PS Portale is downgrading its protection. i get clients regularly calling and complaining that they can no longer use the solar apps, security cams, doorbell etc because they don't know that the old tech is running on 2.5gz only way is to downgrade them to keep[ cost low because other way is to upgrade the router or installing a switch.... to keep it simple if anyone needs help its called "BANDSTEERING" band steering can only be activated instead the router on an admin account or split the connection so your home network would have two SSID names which can be a pain when interfacing. Band steering commoin hiccups is devices fighting for priority connection. Soby netcode would be pretty interesting cause as ive mention its usually comes down to hardware and the router, you could say that the PS prtale is brute forcing its way to public wifi lol

Unless the industry and gaming as a whole have a major shift in their pricing strategy, it's very unlikely that digital only is going to be accepted without a huge pushback. Considering the increasing decline of service based media options and spontaneous uptick of physical media, I doubt this "convenience" mindset will prevail - especially when it comes to game preservation, storefronts eventually closing, subsequent content being lost forever and demisting games, etc. Physical media is undoubtedly the way to go for this aspect, and I strongly believe it won't die without a huge fight or pushback. If the tide is starting to turn this strongly, considering how the industry by and large has proven to be so untrustworthy in seemingly burrying IPs and moving on. At the very least, this would push A LOT of people towards PC, and consoles do not want to risk doing that.

Custom deadzones and sensitivity curves for the analog sticks of the controller would be appreciated... though it will likely never happen. Gotta sell those expensive Dual Sense Edges after all.

Buying the Edge is so pointless. Not just the battery is worse but with the price of it you get three controllers. Recently a shop in my country had some discounts and was selling PS5 controllers at 60 euro. The Edge in my country is sold at 220. I instead bought three controllers. So i gave 180 and got three controllers with 40 to spare. Three controllers will last me a lot longer than the Edge will before it starts going bad(not to mention i will always have a controller charge up and ready to play). Even if you can change the thump-sticks on the Edge many have hard time even finding them and second that is still extra cost you pay and not only that but nothing guarantees that the only thing going bad will be just the thump-sticks. First the battery will definitely deteriorate and with the Edge small battery that will come even faster. Vs three controllers the battery life in incomparable. Having three controllers means you won't overuse their battery ether so their battery will last very long before it deteriorates. Second my first PS5 controller showed a problem not with the thump-stick but with the adaptive trigger. The right adaptive trigger started making noises every time i pushed it and felt bad etc. The Edge doesn't have different adaptive triggers or buttons or anything. If any of that goes bad then being able to change the thump-sticks doesn't mean anything. if you have more controllers though, then one going bad is not an issue since you have spares. Buying two Edge controllers along with some spare thump sticks will cost as much as a PS5 itself and you are still liable for all the other issues. With the same money you buy like 7 controllers and you will have to start throwing controllers in the walls every time you lose to run out of them.

I think the voice actors should get a guarantee to have the ability to renegotiate terms involving AI at any point in the future. But I completely disagree with setting up massive regulation and guardrails when no one knows how viable AI in that field will even be. Don’t stifle innovation before we even know what it could do. The fact that the ps5 still doesn't have folders on the homescreen is questionable or that you have the game take up the homescreen for the wallpaper, what would be a good balance is do it like the PS3 where you hover over the game to reveal the wallpaper for that game but then when go anywhere else on homescreen you get the wallpaper you have set instead of the game take up and be forced instead of choosing your own

You can still back your PS5 saves up locally, but you have to go through the traditional backup process to do this.

Wait what? I just did that 2 days ago. You can go in backup, select the type of data you want to back up, and make that backup on a USB key. If your PS5 dies you can restore that data on a new PS5.

The activities feature has always been so interesting to me because I fully see the appeal of it but I get some kinda of enjoyment out of booting up a game to its menus. Even if I know I want to play Spider-Man 2 and I’m going to immediately zoom through the menus to get into the game, I for some reason really don’t want that done for me. It’s like it’s part of the ritual of playing games lol. I’m interested to hear someone else’s perspective from the opposite side lol. Someone who’s like “I absolutely love the activities feature because I hate having to click through menus” etc. I feel like most gamers agree with me and that’s why this is feature is so underused

I think the problem Microsoft may be considering with just dumping infinite money into advertising is, they might attract the attention of people who already want to put pressure on them for attempting to just buy the market.
