Wonderful report, yet again! I laughed at your fashion statement - one of my adult children asked how I would describe my fashion sense: I said, “affordable.” I don’t know if you recall the old Mary Tyler Moore Show - one character, Phyllis (Cloris Leachman) made quite a fuss about the wine course she had just completed. To demonstrate her knowledge, she was blindfolded and tasted two wines. She inhaled the aroma, swirled the liquid in her glass and around her tongue, tasted the wine, and declared with utmost certainty: “I have narrowed it down, thanks to my wine course……it’s definitely a red.” That’s a bit like my knowledge of wine: none! But Leachman recited those lines so much better! 😂

Yeah QF93 is always delayed. QF94 was delayed leaving LAX when I flew out, and as our aircraft was using the same aerobridge, we left a few hours late. Ah well, it's faster than walking!

I don't recall turbulence being particularly bad although I can't really remember it. I've found other routes to be consistently rough, though, including SE-Asia to Europe and anything over India.

They should put both sunshades AND dimable windows. This way you can block some light and still see outside, or just quickly block off 100% of the light if wanted.

Thank you for your swift reply. Most people think that ALL business and first class seats are created equal. The truth, as you know and have so vividly demonstrated, is that in both these classes of travel there are good seats and better seats . . . and, once in a while a bad seat, too.

Thank you. Wish you an interesting new year. Have you noticed that the airlines will spend, say, a couple of hundred dollars on a bottle of Dom or Krug but neither the whites nor the reds are anywhere near this price. As far as red Bordeaux - the only still wines with which I am REALLY familiar - are concerned, what is served rarely exceed $40-50 in cost. And, unlike Champagne, reds have a far longer storage life if properly stored after opening. Do you have any thoughts in this area? I attribute this thinking to the fact that in the eyes of the public Champagne has "flash".

I don't have many thoughts I'm afraid. I'd tend to agree that more expense is spent on the champagne because that's what people expect to see. As I said in the video, I really don't know much about wine. :)

Looks like a great product from an airline that I wouldn't normally fly since I live in Malaysia. For my long haul, I usually choose either SIA or CX... Still have yet to try out the Middle Eastern airlines and JAL, which I've heard is one of the best.

It’s also very possible that the electrochromic window tinting doesn’t block UV radiation. I wished I could take you for a spin in my 747!

Paul Stewart I fly all over the world. Right now I’m in Incheon. Tonight I head to Shanghai. I fly for a US ACMI cargo carrier. I’m dual qualified in both the 747-400 and 747-8. I also fly the C-5M Super Galaxy. I get to fly business and first class with a lot of these carriers (as a passenger) between my operational flights that you’ve made videos about. I always enjoy it!

Paul Stewart I definitely enjoy it! When the 748 came out it was quite different than the 744. However, they’ve done software mods to the 744 to make it be very similar to the 748. And they’ve likewise done software mods to the 748 to improve its performance, particularly with VNAV, which was a little shaky when it first came out but is much better now. The 748 was a step backwards for what Boeing makes in contemporary times but they had to do this in order to maintain the same type rating with the 744. All said, I very much enjoy flying the 747 and I still think it’s a beautiful, majestic aircraft every time I see one!

It will take a decade to recover. Things might start to return to normal in 2-3 years but it'll take a long time before airlines have any spare cash again.
