Would just like to add: for the gear pyraminx, that move where you turn 2 opposite edges is necessary sometimes. I was stuck where I couldn't get the outer-center pieces aligned on the correct face with the corners aligned, and was totally stuck. When you spin both opposite edges the center pieces don't actually move at all which allows you to properly orient them with the corners. I assume that if you scramble the puzzle without doing the edge turns than you would not need to do the edge turn to solve the puzzle. I must have accidently done edge turns without realising and to the best of my knowledge, the puzzle was unsolvable without doing the double edge turn. Thanks for showing me that move!!! Was instantly able to solve my puzzle after seeing you do it.
