New Redwing 2440 Wedge Boot Vibram Sole

Open Box review. Hoping to update a few months from now. Ask questions. Size 10 wide. Waterproof with non metallic safety toe.
Not my first pair of Redwings. Honestly not happy about paying so much. But I’m tired of buying junk boots. I was sold on the fact that I can go to my local Redwing dealer any time I like to have them cleaned and treated. Making the boot last longer. Then after the tread is gone I can get them Re-sole for $100. Cheaper than buying Carhartts every 8 months. So I’m gonna put these boots to the test and let you know how they hold up….I’m not paid by anyone so I can be honest and I think boot manufacturers owe it the hard working people to give them their money’s worth. I’m on my 2nd pair. I’m on my feet all day in and out of houses. Stairs hard surfaces ect. I install hard surfaces countertops (granite, marble, quartz). I also struggle with a bunion on my foot. Hands down the best boot I’ve had. They hold up well to the weight and conditioning i put them through. I also don’t struggle with bunion or any type of foot pain anymore

I’ve got the same foot issues and these boot’s definitely helped. Starting to have knee issues. Probably age and old sports injuries. But still think the boots were a good buy.

I just purchased the same pair. Mine, I got an 11.5 2E which is actually considered their true "wide" sizing. I'd bet money they'll last you longer than a year. Keep us posted please.

Im just curious if you bought them true to your size. How much extra room do you have between the tip of your big toe and the end of the inside of the toe?

@@coloradoguy1109. My goal is a thumb to 3/4 a thumb width for any boot. I’ve found that to be the best fit.

Younger guys dont know anything thats why, lol.......never cheap out on boots for construction😊 Die hards used to be decent boots way back in the day but are crap now....wedge sole if walking a ton, espcially on concrete Am 55 been in trades since 83....always buy a quality boot.... Not red wing fan (have a pair still) but their are many good boots out there.....

I couldn’t agree more. Definitely some quality boots out there for cheaper. I was sold on the resole option and the ease of service. I got tired of burning through Carhartts every 8-10 months. I remember the food DieHards. But I used to be a huge Rocky’s boots guy. They are Great for hunting boots. A bit too heavy for work boots.

Clean and Mink oil them on a regular bases and will last years .I personally buy Red Wing American union made . Not all red wings are US made. Because of the adhesive they use

Just posted a new update. Also dropped them off last week to get new soles. I’ll post an after video. Enjoy the boots. I do suggest treating them often either yourself or at the store. I should take better care of mine 😆

I just bought the 2442 (8”) on 12/12/22 and omg my feet hurt sooooo bad by the end of my shift! Im using insoles and the pads of my feet are almost numb with pain after 8 hrs on concrete and rubber mats (indoor factory work) so since im standing on matted concrete my feet shouldn't hurt so much, while the 2442's are not as painful as my redwing loggers were to break in (but almost) these 2442's are a close second on a pain scale of 1-11 these 2442's are a 10 by the end of my shift, almost every other step im muttering a curse word.......... BTW RW should not charge for good insoles, my store wants $60 for the upgraded insoles! Thats on top of the $250.00 2442 ,boot made in vietnam! Going back to the store today to exchange to a softer RW crepe sole instead of this vibram creme HD tread, while light, its still very dense but not as dense as vibram logger lug sole. Man I couldn’t agree more with the price of the insoles being a rip off. I immediately returned the ones I got up sold on. They were killing me. I did however keep the boots. And still love them. Check out my newest update video. Two years later and still kicking. Thanks for commenting. Hope you find a boot that doesn’t hurt you.

With the insulation are they hot in the summer? I work in a body shop as a painter and it gets beyond hot in the shop. Do these keep your feet dry or do they sweat?

Check out the later vids. I never treated them and my feet got soaked in some wet grass working fields. Could have been my fault. I wear them all year. Hot and cold and my feet sweat. But I don't think they that bad as far as keeping my feet cool. Good socks help.

Mine fit well. I have wide feet. But ya they even feel loose on the sides with thick socks. I usually wear a 9.5. But I purchased a 10 based on the sales guys measuring device.

The extra stitching on the toe is just reinforcement. Even if you wear through it or damage it it’s unlikely that the outsole will detach at the toes from the adhesive. How are they doing now?

Not really unless it’s a new epoxy coated floor. But I’m not in clean areas very often.

Seems like a bad design having the threads exposed on the bottom of the toe area or anywhere on the sole. If your going to design it that way it at least needs to be recessed deep enough to clear for any normal depth of worn soles.

😆 You’re right I know nothing about well made boots. Please educate me. I don’t understand the thread being on a surface that gets a lot friction with rough surface. I’m not a cobbler so I don’t know. Just curious about the thread placement. I still wear these boots and love them. No issues with thread placement thankfully 😆 I still highly recommend these boots.
