Great video. I learned too late in my career about wearing good quality boots. I developed knee problems from wearing cheap boots and from wearing them till the boots tilted outwards. I wish I had known this when I was just starting out in my trade.

It took me a long time to learn also!! Hopefully guys that are starting can take care of their bodies!! Great comment!!

Same I ended up wearing my DC's on sites that don't care and still now that I'm a brewer but am trying out new shoes/boots as the court graffiks I prefer are now overpriced and insoles blow out every 3 to 4 months I might try some red wings but the price is hard to swallow if they don't last at least a year

Do a video on how you maintain your shop organized. I struggle to maintain my shop clean, I put everything first (vacants, work orders, anything)but my shop last

Great video Sir! I appreciate the sharing of your experience. Please keep up the good work. I have gone through one set of soles on my RW 2440's. I've had the same pair coming up on 2 years. My father was a USMC Vet in Vietnam. Worked outdoors his whole life after and always preached about good boots and good socks will keep you going. God Bless

Definitely know what you are saying. I would feel the same fatigue, aches and pains and it took me awhile to realize that a lot of it comes from proper foot wear. 46 years as a mechanic standing up on concrete, walking, kneeling, by the end of the day you're hurting. Proper foot wear and proper rest definitely makes a difference 👍 thanks for sharing!

It's odd how we don't understand the root of the problem until years later. Thanks for your comment!

And the best is that with the construction of red wings once you do start to wear the sole in or out, they can just be resoled and your boots will be as good as new as long as you havnt worn the leather uppers out too much.

Look into a custom made orthotic insert that properly distributes your weight, that helped me along with buying red wing boots.

Great boot. I also like the Wolverine 1000 mile original boot

Those are good too, my second favorite. I used those for some time. They do last a long time. Good hearing from you!

Have you tried blundstone boots? I currently wear the XFR ones. Very comfortable but not exactly the best for protection or ankle support given it is a Chelsea style boot. Before blundstones I used to swear by jb goodhue, but again I wore through those way faster than blundstones. Solid video man! Looking forward to getting my first redwings!

Just a suggestion. You might think about seeing a chiropractor in addition to getting new boot. If your spine and hips are out of alignment that affects how you boot wear in or out on the treads. Just saying. I found your channel watching how to adjust hinges when there is a gap. I'm gonna try it to see if it fixes my back door. Thanks!

When you make more money in whatever trade you’re in, there’s no reason not to be investing in your feet. I’m making enough money now and I buy red wings too. 👍🏼

You should look into style 2441 or 2443. Same boot as the 2440 but its a smooth round toe instead of the stotch moc toe. Or you can get an epoxy coating product called Tuff Toe put on the front of your 2440s.
@ericochoa42719 ай бұрын
You could go to a red wing store and have them do the tuff toe or buy it from them and do it yourself so you dont wear out the toe so fast.

Yea, they offered to do it when I bought them, they also said I could come later and get it done (as long as the weren't damaged) but honestly I don't like how they look. Thanks

I’ve been looking at the 8 inch version for awhile now! Just had 2 weeks off because of surgery , and man I’ve been feeling it today! Had to do a foot bath and everything lmao 🤣 but I feel exactly like this! I feel horrible and it’s because my feet are killing be! The second the store opens tomorrow I’m going straight to redwing to buy a pair even if I’m late to work lol 😂 seriously though it’s unbearable and I can tell by the condition of your boots you know what your talking about! Thanks brother , will post again with updates

That boot has plenty of life left. Redwing will restitch that for free. Also getting the tough toe 2 part epoxy allpied will help prevent the moc seam and stitching from ripping, and prevent the leather from wearing down and through at the toe. I personally where traction tred lites, I've moved from the moc toe to the round front due to the moc toe being less durable

I’m battling a nasty bunion on one of my feet and some days it is hell. Can never find the right shoe/boot to accommodate it. Surgery is likely my only option.

My brother, your experience and background would help a lot of young men. You should consider writing down your experiences and selling them as a memoir.

@@MaintenanceManNarratives I've had 4 pairs of Carhartt. The QC is terrible. Each pair fell apart in less than a year. One pair the sole came off after just 6 months. I was hardcore Carhartt until I tried their boots. Now I have Redwings 2440. I'll never go back.

I went through that and you know what it was? I WASN'T DRINKING ENOUGH WATER 😆😆😆 guess soda on lunch and beer after work wasn't the best choice! Half gallon of water a day took away the achey, slow, over worked muscles! All the older men were just telling me: "YUP IT'S PART OF GETTING OLD...HEY U WANNA GO TO THE STRIP CLUB LATER ON?" 😆😆
