Hi Andy, I’m playing catch up with your channel as I’ve been away for the last two weeks. I’ve got the Lucy Rose album and I so enjoy listening to it. Been a Fan of Camara Obscura for many year’s, their latest album has been a long time coming and I’m so pleased it’s in my collection. I would never have thought it but now I’m listening more to vinyl than watching TV. Enjoyed this months offering now I’ll go check on what I have missed. See you next time..👍

As always Andy great deep dives. Big thief is another band that I don’t have and absolutely need in my collection. Now I have added Adrianna to the list as well. Growing up in the southern USA during the Black Crowes heyday always brings back great memories and I need to pick up this new album as well. The others ones showed look intriguing. I am going to explore deeper thanks for posting the links.

New to your channel, great records you shared. I am really into DIIV and this new album, exploring their older albums as well. The DIIV and Beth Gibbons albums are my early favorites for top releases of 2024. Great video, cheers Andy!

I read a couple of luke warm reviews but liked the couple of tracks I streamed so decided to buy it. Glad I did, as the whole album is superb. Thanks for watching, Symon. Cheers mate

Another great video Andy - check out Adrianne Lenker's album 'Songs And Instrumentals' which is a double album, one of tender quite stripped back songs and the second record is just her improvising on the guitar. It was recorded in lockdown I think while staying in isolation in a one room wood cabin in Massachusetts. I read somewhere that she thought the acoustics of the cabin was like living inside an acoustic guitar so wanted to record there. Thanks for the recommendations - plenty of music there to form the soundtrack to my day. Cheers - D

Thanks, David. I'll definitely check out that Lenker album. I've had some Big Thief recommendations too. I'm not sure how she's managed to pass me by. I had heard the name but knew nothing about her. Thanks for watching. Cheers, mate

Give Big Thief a listen. Buck Meek is the guitarist and he is superb. If you look at some live clips of them you will see he is quite odd in his movements and mannerisms but there is no doubting his ability.

Big Thief are on my list to check out, along with Adrianne's earler solo stuff. I'm not sure how they passed me by. Thanks for watching. Cheers

Very good Andy. May has been an odd month for me, my head has not been in a very good place at all and I've not bought much new music other than the Kings of Leon and St. Vincent. I really love that Black Crowes album and I'm on a quest to get into their back catalogue. I'd say give the Black Keys some repeated listens, it is growing on me. There are two fads at the moment that are leaving me cold, one is spoken word and the other is depressing, whiney female singers, I could never get on with whiney male singers. I recently downloaded four albums from artists I'd seen on Jools Holland, my opinion of all of them is the same; they are good, listenable but ultimately do not jump out and grab me and say they must be in my collection. Which brings me to Beth Gibbons, I saw her on Jools Holland, and beating in mind my mental health is not great at the moment, I was completely underwhelmed by her, in fact id forgotten what it was like the instant it finished, I maybe need to approach that in a better frame of mind. I will check out a couple of those you've mentioned. Keep up the good work 👍

I think you might quite like the Milo Kebinski album. Worth steaming a bit anyway. Possibly also the Lucy Rose. Not at all whiney, just nice songs and a decent accompanying sound. Also I'm getting lots of feedback on Adrianne Lenker. It seems she is well regarded by a lot of my subscribers who are recommending other albums and also from her band Big Thief. I really like it but it is very paired back and you might not be in the right mood just now. Still worth checking out a track or two. Funnily enough I watched Jools last night after my call after your and Alan's gig. I was the oppposite tbh. I was completely underwhelmed by the Black Keys and it sort of confirmed my decision not to buy the album. I thought the rapper was more interesting tbh. But Beth was superb. Thanks for watching, Marc. Cheers mate

@@andysalbums there is a post script to my comment, when I made it I'd only watched half Jools Holland, my reaction was based on Beth Gibbons opening number. Now I've watched it all, I quite liked the second one she did. I like the rappers's second number, not the first. I really enjoyed The Black Keys, that album makes me happy when I listen to it, I'm still singing Everybody's On The Game now, a real ear worm song. The album has a different feel, not so much blues rock. We're all different, we all listen to music for different reasons. The ones you mentioned were not the ones I picked out 😅😅 I went for Diiv and Kamasi Washington, but I've downloaded the others too. I only noticed on Thursday that Lucy Rose appeared on the Manics album of 2013, as did Richard Hawley. Maybe why that's my least favorite Manics album 😅

I'd heard of her, Joachim, but not heard any her music. I hadn't heard of Big Thief. I'm off now to try some Big Thief and Adrianne's earlier stuff. Thanks for the tip. Cheers
