YESSSSS! Doctors a good amount of times will ignore diagnoses based on age when other diagnoses have been ruled out after tests. What’s more frustrating is when doctors don’t test for certain conditions bc of age rule outs

Understand that there is a cost benefit ratio that must be considered. Colonoscopies carry its own risks and if the risk of complications is higher than your risk of colon cancer, than screening is not appropriate. This is to be said for any kind of medical procedure/treatment

@@weirdo-gj5xz you are correct in say that some diagnostic procedures do carry their own level of risks to the human body, but some diagnostic methods such as blood tests are negligibly very low in health risks. Yes, this video is about colorectal cancers, but this comment thread is about general diagnoses. You make a very good point concerning the risks of diagnostic procedures in potentially diagnosing colon cancers, so what you said there is very pertinent to this video and the factual based viewpoint you bring up.

Hi, I just got back from a colonoscopy and endoscopy. The results were completely normal. I have had blood in my rectum, unexplained anemia, severe stomach pain, constipation and based on all my Google findings, diagnosed myself with advance colon cancer. They found Nothing, not even a benign polyp. I wanted to share this because I couldn’t find enough of these types of posts when I was looking for answers myself. Sometimes the research we do drives us completely bonkers, wasting hours and days and even weeks assuming the absolute worst! There are soooo many other explanations for symptoms than the worst case scenarios & statistically, it is more likely NOT to have cancer than to have it🙌🏼 Unfortunately, I know this is NOT everyone’s experience and people are diagnosed everyday and have to walk the hard battle out but I wanted to be a voice of hope in the self diagnosis process❤️

I was polyp free at 65 and then began feeling really tired around 68. I had iron infusions for 3 years which didn't help much so the hematologist said yu have a leak. I just had a colonoscopy last week and the doc removed a very large polyp from the cecum. She said I had been losing blood from that, making me extremely iron deficient. Also it was pre cancerous cells. My father had colon cancer but survived 5 years from Chemo and surgery. I am so lucky my iron was very low and they searched for the reason. In another year it might have been cancer.

I was diagnosed in November 2020. Yep right in the middle of the freaking pandemic and it sucked. None of my family was allowed to sit with me during my chemotherapy treatments. The day I rang the bell the nurses recorded it for me on my iPhone and I was able to text it out. However little did I know my family the entire time was planning a surprise party. The day after I took my last chemo pill I got my hair done and wore a colon cancer survivor shirt and headed to my family office. My mom told me that they had to pick up something so she told me head to back. I walked in there I saw my cousins my brother and sister-in-law and their kids. The entire room was lit up with lights and had a balloon drop with colors that represent colon cancer. They even had a bell for me to ring. My mom had me save my last bottle of chemo pills. After I rang the bell for my family I threw away that chemo bottle. I never want to see another chemo bottle again.

Sadly even when doctors do take people seriously insurance companies would rather you suffer than encourage preventative care that will cost them and you less overtime by catching whatever it is early rather than late. The guidelines should be updated and it should be based on symptoms so less doctors are hesitant or less of them will flat out refuse to consider something outside of a person’s age. People have to be their own advocate. Keep going to doctor to doctor until someone takes you seriously. It may cost a pretty penny before then or for the medical testing but that’s what it sadly will take. Better to be annoying and wrong about the problem than quiet and right but now the disease has progressed. Sometimes the issue is what you think it is and sometimes it’s not. WebMD is a guide but it’s not a replacement for a doctor visit or urgent care.

My mom is watched by her guardian angles. She had a sister who died caused by colon cancer so the doctor advised my mom to get colonoscopy every 2 years. One time she missed her appointment by a year caused by the demand of her work. They found a polyp but it was on its early stage and it was malignant. At first it was stage 0 but when they operated on her it was actually stage 1 cancer growing inside the linings of her colon and not to the space of colon if that makes sense. We are always amazed by how lucky she is because if she got the colonoscopy 1 year earlier the doctor said they wouldn't notice the polyp and by the next appointment the cancer would've progressed more.

I'm 33 last year in July I finally got my colonoscopy and endoscopy. I'd been begging my doctor for over 2 years. I've had every symptom bleeding pain an iron deficiency my whole life. I've had bowel problems as far back as I can remember in Middle School. I showed my primary doctor pictures from the toilet of the blood they tell me that doctors don't like to look at pictures I could have pulled that off the internet and one of the pictures looks like meat sauce. Finally I got sent to a GI doctor after many stool samples. They found a hiatal hernia And over 50 precancerous colon polyps 37mm. I've had 4 colonoscopys since July 2022. I get my biopsies on the 12th for the 5 biopsies that they did on the new ones they found. 9mm with a15cm base.

Iron Deficiency Anemia generally caused by blood loss chronically. It would take 6 months to a year to see it. Example, we had a family friend who had undergone already 2 series of preventive colonoscopies per age, all her result were good, not until more than a year after the last one, she developed bad symptoms, the doctor associate it to her irritable bowel syndrome & did not scoped her because she recently had one. Until about 4 months later, she did not pooped for 8 days, that's the time they did colonoscopy & found out she had colon cancer stage 4, they did surgery, but she died in the hospital just few days after the surgery.

I can’t help but wonder if it’s the cell phone in our pockets. I have a precancerous polyp in my colon and it’s pretty much in the same spot where I usually keep my phone. I’m 46 and the only symptom I have is the abdominal pain. However, two gastroenterologists have told me that due to the size and location I should not have any pain so none of them think the pain is from the polyp even though it’s in the same exact spot and the CT scan and MRI showed no other issues anywhere including the polyp. The colonoscopy I had to ask for is what showed the polyp.

Spotted blood in stools on a couple of occasions, made a dr appointment where I was checked over. They arranged blood test and stool tests, they have come back after a few days saying I need a repeat of the blood test (I’m guessing something was not normal), today I got a message saying the stool samples came back positive and I’m being referred to the hospital for further tests, should I be worried?

Yes, as someone else said, be glad they took you seriously from the start. My mom’s doctor didn’t take her seriously, so it took many months before she finally got her colonoscopy (which she had to request for herself, since the doctor kept telling her she was just experiencing muscle pain).

Thankfully the Result was pre cancerous polyps and diverticulitis, polyps were removed during the procedure and I have to go back for a second colonoscopy in the next few weeks, very quick treatment from my initial concerns with my GP to tests and then going into hospital for colonoscopy was around 3 weeks!!

It's ABSOLUTELY ridiculous that they don't start routine colonoscopies until age 40-45 in the US. It should be dropped to age 30 at least.

@@djmccann4437 Interesting. Is it possible doctors can overlook it in blood tests? Last year had terrible anxiety with tremors and fast heart rate as well weight loss. She looked into my thyroid, liver, kidney and pancreas, and hormones. Strangely she said everything was normal even tho I was far from normal. She did find my cholesterol was low which was understandable since I wasn’t eating due to my anxiety. I’ve gotten better but I still have drawbacks.

@@Sol36900 you should be able to find anemia through regular iron/folate/and hemoglobin blood tests. But there are different types of anemia that have separate testing. For anxiety- maybe check vitamin D levels. Also I’ve experienced doctors not checking thoroughly for autoimmune issues.

I had to pause the video and cuss the reporter out when she said you can't feel the symptoms of anemia. I have a series of 5 infusions 2 years ago. Yeah, I can tell the difference. So great not feeling like death warmed over everyday.

Capitalism doesn't ruin everything. Greed does. Do you think when the communists confiscated the means of production from farmers and starved so many Of their own people,, that that wasn't due to greed or power? Too bad you weren't living in Venezuela around 2015 when people were breaking into zoos to eat. You would've seen what true corruption and evil was, and still is.
