I think the color difference is how well the water is distributed through the puck during extraction. Is that maybe because you used a distributing tool or wdt on the bottom 4 and not on the top 2?

Your RF64W grinder is really interesting, expensive I’m sure. I am also using a puck screen, mine have 100 and 150 micron holes but don’t know which gives the better result as I haven’t actively considered it. I suppose the smaller holes will produce a higher resistance for the water to flow? I also noticed that the top of your puck screen has scratches like mine and was concerned that the shower screen might be damaged by the puck screen. As for the light colored pucks, I think it’s because you had ground them quite course and did a longer extraction.

i have been using the puck screen for some time now. won't go back to the normal way. my puck is much much drier, water distribution should also be more even. puck eroding is not an issue as well after 20seconds of extraction. screen is also much cleaner

What's the name for wdt tool and tamper? 😁

Wdt is calling Spinning WDT and tamper is called cookie press.

Awsome video CY. Is the pressure above 9 bar because of the mesh on top of the puck ?

I will test it!

Mara X usually shows 10 bar at full pressure. I believe the manometer is measuring pressure at the pump which may be 1 bar higher than pressure at the group head.

Awesome Video CY! That grinder is a beast 💪. Puck color difference, my guess is they have different processing? I don't know which ones. Cheers ☕

my guess for the puck colour difference is the extraction rate. More coffee soluble being extracted out thus the colour lighter? just wild guess.

Yes the colour tone does tell which part is more extracted than others. But some of the pucks were left there a while ago and it could have dried out and hence show lighter colour tone.

Hi what beans are those? How do you find the taste?
@CaffeMartellaSingapore3 жыл бұрын
I have been using coffee beans from Caffe Martella Roma and its very chocolaty and nutty. Perfect for milk base drinks.
