I understand the "alarm" system would improve things for the majority, but I really hope it is accompanied by an improvement in announcements for disabled boarding. The announcement for guests with disabilities is often made a second before the next group, or skipped entirely. This means that by the time I get to the gate door, the first group of "preferred elite members" or whatever other fancy rich people is usually already boarding. I already have enough trouble with the boarding process when flying as a disabled person, and I would really not appreciate if they add a loud alarm to that process. My disability is not immediately obvious when looking at me, so I expect a lot of withering looks and questions if this happens. Again, I totally get why they would institute this, I just would like to see "guests who need extra time to board due to disabilities, children, etc" announced clearly and with ample time to avoid that alarm. Sorry for the long comment.
@AnneCaulder9 күн бұрын

@ It’s only a disruption if it’s a party house 100% of the time and most people don’t even know what homes are used for Air BnBs in the neighborhoods. Booking and staying at an air Bnb is no different than going to a hotel, besides getting more space and needing to clean after yourself. I’m fine with either but hotel prices are gonna rise without. Most of those rules already have applied in Vegas bc the hotels and casinos weren’t about to have them take their business.

Question: Are their any regulation regarding flight attendants given your seat to another passenger without your permission? Or even asking you to switch your seat with another passenger?
@ktjankabar10 күн бұрын
I’ve travelled in Europe and at least one airline was already using machines which prevented early boarding. Not sure why AA is getting all the press. I don’t see it as “public shaming”, sometimes the gate announcements are inaudible with no clarity on what group is boarding. Regardless, early boarding issues are a result of baggage fees and no consistent enforcement of carry on items.

The TSA has zero oversight on the airlines, the DOT does, so kudos to not knowing that. Liquids, travelling anywhere in and out of the U.S., can't be above 3.4oz/100ml. Duty Free alcohol has to get tested, and if it doesn't pass the test, you either gotta hand it over or check it onto the plane before going through security. There are some medical exceptions on some liquids, and the size amount doesn't look like it will be changing anytime soon.

They should make it mandatory for TSA to not be rude?!!?!?

I fly southwest and I’ve only seen this once and it was this summer. A woman had a C20 something boarding group. She scanned in A group walked as fast as she could and the agent called her back as his machine notified him she wasnt to board. The agent explained to her she had to go by BOTH letter and number. I was in A45 or something, and observed her get in line for B group as well. I eventually saw her get on the plane w the C group but OMG! Then she was also one of those slowest people deciding where to out her carry on. lol

My question for this is... will all airlines be doing this or just a select few? The worst cases I've seen of this was in Mexico and Peru. If this new rule becomes global then it's a game changer.

I like American Airline’s idea about enforcing the boarding groups! People who pay the very basic price shouldn’t be able to board early, thereby putting their carry-on right near their seat. Others pay more just to board early, so that they have room for their carry-on, so it needs to be enforced. (I don’t pay the extra fee to board early, and I accept the limitations that come with that.) Fair is fair.
@deans612914 күн бұрын
British Columbia implemented rules last year that started this year stating that short term rentals can only occur in which the home owner lives on that property as well. This was implemented due to a shortage of housing right across BC. New York copied BCs model

Maybe stop charging for checked baggage. The Airbnb regulations are a good thing. There are whole shady industries based around buying up neighborhoods and renting them out as Airbnbs, driving up prices for locals. It was originally supposed to be just for couch surfing backpackers. And now it’s more expensive than just getting a hotel.

"Airlines would only give refunds if it was their fault." was simply not the case. These rules were easily bypassed. The flights just get "delayed" until later, or even til the following day. The airlines find a replacement plane, tell you sorry for the "delay", and give you some credits to use on the same airline in the future, which isn't useful in the moment.

Regarding the full refund when there are severe delays….will that refund amount cover the likely much more expensive ticket, if rebooking is needed to reach the intended destination. Seems more like a win for the airlines, especially if the refund does not reach the consumer for 7 days.

Well Air France has never followed up on my claim of a lost flight. What about passengers who have mobility issues who are traveling with family? Returning from Italy earlier this year was returning with my family and I have a mobility issue. An individual approached us in the Airport and lead us to an express line for the "TSA,'s" equivalent of security. We were also boarded first as a family along with parents with small children and others with handicaps. Now my ticket did not mention a mobility issue but Thank You to the Italian security for getting us through the handicap express line and onto the aircraft in a timely manner. It’s very difficult to stand in line for over 20 minutes and then trying to walk to the boarding gate. It’s even worse for me to ride in the busses that transport passengers to the aircraft when the airline has no jetways to the aircraft.

Ny’s short term rentals requirement that owner be present (on premises) makes 100% sense - otherwise a short term rental, just for short term renters, becomes a de-facto zone change from residential to commercial hotel. Zoning exists for a reason.

Commercial Airlines really board first to back to keep the weight off the engines as long as possible. The back actually would sink below its normal weight if they go back to front. If you are still unsure ask another aerospace engineer

Please note the standard that determines a late or on time details had not changed. Technically, if you're plane disconnects from the gate on time, but sits for another 4 to 6 hours before taking off, it is still recorded as an on-time departure.
@irandude165513 сағат бұрын
They conveniently forgot to mention that the Airline has 7-days to issue your refund. It is not automatic. So if you want to book right away and have no money, you have to wait a whole week because we know these airlines will wait until they absolutely have to give you your money back. Giving you back your money on the 7th day will still be under compliance.

I don’t normally stay in airbnbs but it is unfortunate because hotels are not designed for families. My entire family of 11 people (4 families) needed to travel for a funeral and it was $800 for an airbnb for two nights while it would have cost us $600 a family to stay at a hotel for the same two nights.

I have no idea why people who are going to visit another country feel that it is their right to be able to go and find an Airbnb when maybe that country doesn’t have enough places for their own people to live. This is happening in certain parts of Canada as well where major cities have Airbnb‘s that sit empty and we can’t find places to rent let alone live and even if they are not empty, we are at 0% with regards to rentals.
@marialaura732611 күн бұрын
😂 this is not an issue, what about hotels, they occupy space as well, they could rent to people too if they wanted. But no, they want to make more money because hotels know that people are choosing airbnbs over stupid hotels so now the hotel industry wants to get rid of Airbnb. But of course you sound like a non traveler so what would you know about that.
