I smiled so hard when you said "I can't handle this" and "This is too much!!" Imagine what old bastards like me did, the first time we heard it, all those years ago! It makes me so, so happy when a beautiful young man like yourself can love this music like I/we do! Neil Peart dying was a great loss: he was a great musician, writer and poet. Bands like Rush will never come our way again...

The greatest band of all time. The band that literally enjoyed each other. The band that other bands(ALL OF THEM) said they were the nicest guys they ever met. Their music is complicated but easily understood and appreciated. Simply the best. Neil Peart had a dream to read every book ever written. He did not succeed but holy shit he tried and what a goal to strive for.

Haha! "I can't do it! It's too hard!" Yeah, this song is an aural assault on your brain. Give it another listen on your own and just surrender to it. The lyrics (based on an unfinished poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge) essentially speak about a mythical place called Xanadu, which offers eternal life to those who find it. The protagonist in the song finds what he seeks, but gets more than he bargained for. Eternal life, yes. But also a prison from which he cannot escape. Now he spends his days waiting for the world to end so he can rest at last. This is a song about seeking a prize, and then finding out that it's not all that you thought it would be.

I "only" saw them a dozen times and yet, just like you, their live performances leave me with chills, but also with two main feelings: immense gratitude that I had the chance to witness their amazing talent and immense sadness that Neil's passing means nobody will ever get to truly experience Rush live ever again. "it's on a different level right now" - To be honest, I think they were always on a different level. Live, studio, didn't matter. These three maestros were always on a different level.

My friend, you just witnessed the three most talented trio on the planet. I've followed these guys since 1973 when I was 12. When the Professor (Neal Peart) joined in 74 I leaped in head first. You have so much to listen too from Rush is all I can say is start with thier early work first to get a feel for what got them to the pinnacle where they rightly belong. Compare studio to live. As a drummer, this was the drum-kit that was the most intimidating, jaw-dropping thing I'd ever seen. I was 11 in 1981 and this kit was everything I aspired to be. This was the age before electronics and sampling on any great scale and you actually had to play what you presented. These were glory days for music.

It’s amazing to watch someone appreciate Rush for their amazing talents creativity and inspiring music. I’ve seen them live nearly a dozen times incredible every time. Just to give you some perspective on this song Geddy is playing a Rickenbacker 4080 double neck bass on top six string on bottom he plays both instruments on this song all while singing playing the synth with his hands and feet, there will only ever be one Geddy, Alex, and Neil. Rush truly the greatest rock band of all time that’s just my slice!!!! Enjoy the pathway my friend.

That's some of the best music ever written. Like you said about La Villa Strangiato, it's the PINNACLE. There may be other bands that can claim they were/are as great, but none were greater. Alex Lifeson is the best rock guitarist ever. Are some as good? sure, but none go through the tone/rhythm/chord changes with such consistent precision. His songwriting...the melodies.. And then there's Neil... thanks for letting the youtube world witness your emotional breakdown. It was real. We've all had similar as the truth of RUSH slaps you across the face. Bro, your reactions to Rush are exactly what my expectations have always been when I've shared their music. Ever since my Dad introduced them to me when I was like 10. They have continually blown mind for the last 26 years of my life and never get old! Watching you enjoy this music is like hearing it all over again for the first time! Love it!

Another wicked Rush reaction! Keep up the good work, dude! I love that Rush wasn't afraid to dedicate an entire minute+ to just getting the atmosphere and vibes right..... that intro immediately clears my head and brings me to some type of distant mountain top monastery with monks and insense candles..... then off we go!

Jay Rah much respect! You see it and it blows you away!! I have heard them described as a 3 ring circus, you are just not sure who to watch...They are just incredible!! Alex on guitar used to do like 10 solos in the studio for every song and the guys would pick the best parts of each solo and then he would put it all together for the perfection!!

Some bands are lucky to get a mind melting power song once in a decades long career. Rush banged these out all the freaking time. This one is just intense as hell. The constant transitions, everything. And yet you never once feel lost or out of control. These guys are beyond talented.

You've entered somewhere that you will never want to return from,,welcome to the RUSH enigma. The harder you listen & the deeper you go, the more you will find. I've been listening to RUSH since 1982 & from 1982 for 15 years I was happily lost in the genius of this trio. Not caring to listen to any other music, not wanting to. Always new discoveries be it in Neil's sublime lyrics to Gedi's in the face base, it was a wonderful time of my life. Wonderful people & fan participation were all a part of the love. When you decide to listen to 2112 live version the play between Alex and the audience was electric, you went home buzzing from the adrenaline deafened by the music and without much of your voice left, wicked!!!! Your at the beginning of a journey you'll never regret! Enjoy friend.

Jah Rah - forgot to say, since you appreciate Rush, it's definitely worth your time to watch the entire concert vid of 'Exit...Stage Left' - hands down, it's the best rock concert ever performed in history - absolutely amazing musical skills - and unlike so many other top tier rock stars, they were all true gentlemen & carried themselves with honor & dignity - and treated others with kindness & respect.

I was a professional musician for 35 years, in a wind orchestra, and these guy's approach is exactly the same. No time to jump about dancing. These guys are "busy" for the whole song.

Rush definately takes you on a rollercoaster ride with each piece. This was my first concert at 17 years old. Can you imagine watching this with the lazers & lights flashing to the beat overhead while the music went through your body? Few people talked when they left the concert - we were just wiped out - just trying to keep on our feet & get to our cars!

Take 3 of the greatest musicians ever, imbue them with a great Canadian work ethic, and viola! You've got arguably the greatest rock band ever!

Love seeing reactions to the live version of Xanadu by Rush. Extremely talented musicians in every single way. Geddy is totally using the Moog synthesizer. The camera shots doesn't show it, but he also plays the synthesizer with his feet when he's away from the keyboards. Also, the guitarist, Alex, also plays the synthesizers with his feet, next to his foot pedals. Pure multi-instrumentalists from the whole band, which is why they sound like an orchestra, even though there's only 3 of them.
