Haha! "I can't do it! It's too hard!" Yeah, this song is an aural assault on your brain. Give it another listen on your own and just surrender to it. The lyrics (based on an unfinished poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge) essentially speak about a mythical place called Xanadu, which offers eternal life to those who find it. The protagonist in the song finds what he seeks, but gets more than he bargained for. Eternal life, yes. But also a prison from which he cannot escape. Now he spends his days waiting for the world to end so he can rest at last. This is a song about seeking a prize, and then finding out that it's not all that you thought it would be.

Love seeing reactions to the live version of Xanadu by Rush. Extremely talented musicians in every single way. Geddy is totally using the Moog synthesizer. The camera shots doesn't show it, but he also plays the synthesizer with his feet when he's away from the keyboards. Also, the guitarist, Alex, also plays the synthesizers with his feet, next to his foot pedals. Pure multi-instrumentalists from the whole band, which is why they sound like an orchestra, even though there's only 3 of them.
