Trailmater Offroad Recovery

Trailmater Offroad Recovery

Күн бұрын

While we were in Colorado at the Rock Junction event we got a call from someone who had wrecked their RZR on the mountain above Monticello Utah. We weren't available so we referred them to Moab SxS. They went in to look at it and were unable to get their bigger recovery unit close enough to get it. So when we got back to moab we went up and helped them. Due to how narrow the road was we had to remote winch it up and out. Luckily Dustin brought parts and we were able to fix it and once on its wheels get it running and drive it out. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

The RZR has given a lot of y'all offroad recovery folks a lot of business! Between noobs driving, excessive testicular fortitude, and breaking parts, they suffer a bit. Speed gets many, I can name 4 or 5 different RZR incidents among people I know, alcohol and speed mostly. Among the side by sides, I'm more the Mahindra Roxor type. Closer to what I grew up driving. Dad preached "as slow as you can, as fast as ya gotta" to us growing up.

What a really cool recovery! I absolutely love all this rigging because it really shows what "rigging" is capable of. This is exactly why you can't have too much recovery gear because you never know if you need 1 extension or 3 and whether you need a tree saddle or 5 and having all the loops and pulleys. And to do this on a slope that is like 50 degrees or more.... requires so much wherewithal to know how to operate and do all this stuff! Awesome work team!

That intro reminded me of the videos of regular tow trucks flipping cars over and then suddenly the hook drops off and the car rolls back off the road and into a different ditch. I can't imagine anyone doing a recovery without a soft shackle anymore. I've watched Rory and Casey LaDelle flipping over vehicles with one winch to start the roll and another to catch the vehicle and lower it back onto its wheels. That's the way you do it.

It was a good deal that half the group started repairs while the other half started rigging, I don't understand why the Winch Line didn't go down with the first person. Colt could have brought it down instead of going empty-handed. Then, if he needed to come back up for parts or tools, he would have an aid in climbing.
