The failure of the slide to lock back is an issue with the spring in those 13rd mags. I had the same issue on the normal shield plus. I called S&W and they sent a free spring to me, replaced the spring and never had a problem again. If you look closely, the part of the magazine(when empty) that pushes up on the slide lock isn't pushing up high enough to actually engage it.
@marcusd32124 ай бұрын
With the new springs they sent you did you notice any difference in loading them or seating them on a closed slide? I had so many issues with the mags when they are new. Could load 12 rds but that 13th I would have to use a mag loader and push the living heck down until it would pop and I could get the 13th round in. Then when i would load on a closed slide it wouldn't cycle on first shot. After breaking in the mags and keeping them fully loaded it has seemed to work itself out but was curious if the new springs they sent were better on this.
@laxharry4 ай бұрын

@marcusd3212 I just bought a Shield Plus. The 13 rd mags have a known issue where the back edge of the follower needs to be filled a small amount to encourage the spring to collapse all the way into it, and not get hung up on the small flat surfaces. Only takes a few minutes to fix. Search for videos on it, you'll see.

I had this issue also, and when you would put the fully loaded 13 round mag in on a closed slide it wouldn't cycle. So I used a mag loader and pushed down on the 12th rd with incredible force. It would pop and let me get the 13th in. I then left them fully loaded for some time and now all my mags work fine. Just weird I had to do that and carry 12 in the mag till they were broken in. Keep the pressure so you still have a gap and quickly remove left thumb and place on top of right thumb and push with both hands. I got one a few weeks ago, I noticed my mags were STIFF, an uplula mag loader helped with that. I had mag drop issues( the 10 rd mag would not fall when pressing mag release ) when empty (dry fire) but I also switched my mag release for left hand shooting. I did not have any last round hold open issues with any of the included mags. After zeroing my dot and putting 300 rounds through it, it ran fine mag after mag. I had no other magazine issues other than them being stiff even when hammering them against a table they took it like a champ. I switched to the shield from a G19 so for me I did have to adjust to the aspect of really breaking in a new pistol. I still love it and I'm glad I got it. i recently purchased the S&W Carry Comp and completely agree with you on Recoil Spring Weight. I contacted S&W tech folks and was told it came with a 16Lb Spring and anything lighter could cause cycling problems, now I don't have a way to check poundage, but I find it hard to believe that it's 16lbs. I'm a pretty old guy and own a few semi auto pistols, large, small and in between and when I first got the pistol, I was amazed at how hard it was to rack the slide. None of my pistols compare to this one, now part of that is the width being 1 inch, but I have other inch wide pistols to compare it to. I'm glad I ran into your video on this particular pistol. On your 1000 round update video I'm hoping you will throw in the actual poundage of the spring as I think you might have proper equipment to check this sort of thing.

It would be interesting to see the difference in flash profile between the single port and the 2 port comps in low light with defensive ammo. I had a Springfield V-10 forever ago and while it didn't obscure my sight picture it was still pretty noticeable.

I own both Sigs and an M&P. I love both. I shoot well with both but don't shoot them the same. My grip changes depending on what platform I'm shooting but the principles are the same. The only reason I haven't bought the Shield is because of the lack of a rail. I like how it shoots vs the 365. I also have largish hands. Sure, odds are I may not need a light but then again, odds are I don't need my firearm as well. I prefer to stack the odds in my favor. No hate towards those that don't prefer a light. The fact that more good people (not just criminals) are carrying a firearm is a win in my book. Carry how you want to carry. Just please do it responsibly.

I've never seen you struggle like this with an m&p. Makes me think this gun isn't so great. Maybe it's just that optic isn't great it seemed like it was shooting all over the place compared to how you usually shoot.

I'm sure the gun itself is fine. I've claimed the optic first. And any shooter even a pro like this guy can have a few bad shots.

It really seems to me like the optic is the issue. The lock back is an issue with the 13 rounders, had the same issues with mine. You just need a new spring or just get the 15 rounders

Just got two of the 15 round mags. Read on some forums that it's the same length spring as the 13 round mags. They just came in the mail today, so I haven't had a chance to take them apart or do any testing. Loaded one, only held 14, felt tight. IIRC, my 13 rounders didn't take 13 at first.

And yes, before I buy any handgun I’m going to watch your review first and then there are several other gun reviewers that I put a lot of faith in but your opinion matters that most to me. Also all my 124gr handloads are going to be at least NATO spec’ed or hotter, definitely + P loadings. If a pistol will stand up to my handloads it’s a bad ass weapon because I push it to the ragged edge!

Why would someone buy this over the M& P 2.0 3.6" Compact? - 15rds flush, or 17, or the stick with 26 rounds. The comp is not really what most of you think it is - don't get me wrong it's nice, but the 3.6 shoots flat with 147's and "yes" I know the 3.6 is slightly thicker at 1.16" vs 1.1" - splitting hairs with that approach because S&W's are generally slimmer than other firearms. Last S&W already had a ported version of the Shields and the 3.6 shoots soft like a 4.25" M&P IMHO. All the info was pulled from S&W’s website 👍
@oldmanjenkins7714 ай бұрын
I agree. Must be for shield fans
@GabrielCarterEGA4 ай бұрын
The 3.6 is my EDC. Can’t be beat..
@Joe-hz1nw4 ай бұрын
The reasons are the following: 1. 2.0 is thicker. It’s noticeable inside the waistband 2. 2.0 has a longer grip, less concealable 3. 2.0 weighs more 4. The difference on the clock and out to around 40 yards isn’t that big if you practice. You see how fast outlaw can shoot the standard shield plus, many of us can do about 90% of that speed bc we practice routinely. I personally just got third in a shooting competition with a standard shield, guys that beat me had $4-$6k 2011’s. For 1&3, many of us want to dress in whatever we want and may carry in impermissible environments. Freaking some libtard out and having a trigger happy cop/off duty cop show up is far more likely for many of us than getting into an actual gunfight. A bit of extra speed and accuracy you get with stepping up doesn’t really matter much, particularly up close.
@davidhudson25274 ай бұрын
The slimness is part of it's allure. The 2.0 3.6 Compact is 1.3" wide not 1.16" making it just as robust and chunky as the Glock 19. You're entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts. Do better.
@GPG77544 ай бұрын
I'd rather have the subcompact 2.0 that nobody talks about instead of the 3.6 compact.

You can take a metal file to two of the “nubs” that stick up and a Holosun will fit flush afterwards. Or just use the adapter plate and an inch lb torque wrench. It will Stay just check it every 500 rounds or so (I know from experience doing both of these things I have two shield plus pistols)
