One last trip into the ocean Picture tone Quarry for the year. Outstanding vid. Omg I can’t start a new hobby. I forge knives, make split bamboo fly rods, working on knapping arrow heads. But what you do is so cool. Hey Dan. I’m a science teacher from Montana. The geology teacher and I ordered a slab of ocean picture stone to make jewelry with our Geology Club students and we’re wondering what the mineral composition of the ocean picture stone is and what’s known about it’s formation.

Primarily it's composed of blue calcite that in itself is why Dan's claim is extremely rare. So far that is the only location as of yet to quarry it.

Dan have you ever thought about drilling and using Dexpan to fracture the stone? I know blasting is out but that would open large seams without as much manual labor and the shards, yeah, I know what that shrapnel feels like! I go to Flint ridge here in Ohio from time to time. It's brutal! But I know what keeps you coming back. No, it's not the sales. It's uncovering something nobody has ever seen and when it's so beautiful as it is you can't help but wonder what else is just below your feet. Nice! I love your videos! One way to move heavy things is to cut a strip of tarp about 3 or 4 feet by 8 feet and roll the rock onto it, then pull it.
