Do you remember when it leaked that Millie Gibson was 'leaving' after Season 1, and there were loads of stories going around that she had been sacked. I thought it was odd that RTD didn't come out in defence and reassure people that she hadn't been sacked and the stories about her being unprofessional were untrue - he didn't say anything because to do so would damage the plot of the season arc. The same with Wild Blue Yonder and all of the speculation about past Doctor's etc. I think very late in the day because fans were at fever pitch due to the amount of secrecy he did come out say say that there were no other Doctor's, probably trying to placate fans knowing the crushing disappointment that the 60th was not going to be overly special (!) Anyway, RTD has form. My speculation - Ncuti is leaving after Season 2. They can't announce Season 3 or start filming because to do so would mean revealing the new Doctor. Season 2 ends, surprise regeneration, massive press release for the new Doctor, filming begins. In my mind this is why RTD is not getting ahead of the headlines, why he's letting fans run wild, and why he is being so vague and noncommittal - he's protecting the plot. RTD has form! We know he's writing new episodes, a seasoned TV exec wouldn't do that, he wouldn't waste the time and resources without knowing more than he's letting on. Farewell Ncuti, we barely knew you...

The 80% retention story really is from the land of Unicorns if anyone truly at Disney thought that say no more why they are in trouble. AAA is very much like Dr Who before the Disney dosh. Its scaled back more character driven and its working for them. Dr Who is strongest in the UK so unless the BBC decided to sell the rights to Disney there is no way an 80% figure would ever happen, Still say working with Netflix would work better the streamer has seen a number of huge shows move to Disney. Paramount could open the way for a Star Trek / Dr who cross over, the problem with Disney its so bloated its clearly having a torrid time with certain parts of the company. For me when they gave feedback on the Audience viewership, Americans are going to have different views on the show, Its a British focused series. If RTD tries to make it more generic to appeal to more Americans it wont work. If Disney do walk away the show coped without the extra money. It can do so again.

Yes- I always think David's apparent lack of comfort on Georgia's vlogs is something they play with- a bit like Staged being a version of themselves. He always did shy away from letting the public into his personal life, but over the years he's become more comfortable with a 'managed openness'. I agree, RTD needed to come out with a stonker of an episode week on week 73 yards remains the episode I watch a lot, Space Babies, Dot and Bubble and pretty much the rest were not his best work. It felt like ideas from the past he blew the dust off and tweaked them. To launch with Space Babies was a total disaster UNIT is back he needs to bring back gallifrey no more messing around, It was destroyed because Chibnall decided he wanted to undo the Anniversary special. RTD can do it. But he also needs to accept the quality of stories had become so poor he needs to make sure every single one is 9/10.

Get over yourself, there are not enough people that bothered about LGBT content to have an impact. The retention rate is much more likely related to the content Disney Plus has available, the cost of the service beyond a free trial and the general writing quality of the show. In order for someone who got a free trial to want to pay actual money for Disney Plus the show would have to be absolutely exceptional and Disney would need to have more content outside or Doctor Who that appealed to Doctor Who viewers, which sadly isn’t the case.
