It's cracks me up to hear the fifteen doctor calling himself "he Last of the Time Lords" when we've got The Doctor Donna, The 14th Doctor, the OTHER 10th Doctor living with Rose, The Doctor's other daughter created by the cloning machine, and The Master plus if they wanted too we could see a return of the other 11th Doctor created when the 11th touched that mimic goo.

1. Doctor Donna is still human. They dispelled all the Time Lord at the end of the Star Beast 2. The 15th and 14th Doctor are still the same person. That'd be like if I considered myself from 5 years ago to be a different person 3. The meta-crisis clone is human. He only has one heart, and ages normally hence why he's living with Rose 4. The Doctor never found out that Jenny survived. From his perspective she died, and couldn't regenerate 5. The Master (right now at least, but probably not forever) is dead. Let's not forget that the Devil's Chord itself explains how the Doctor is the Last of the Time Lords "The Time Lords were murdered. Genocide rolled across time and space like a great, big cellular explosion"

Rose dying at the end of series 1 feels like the perfect segway into a proto-New Earth episode for series 2 where they visit a future hospital to cure her ailments, just brings into question for the christmas special would be. A christmas special with 9 would also kick so hard, the closest we got was probably the Unquiet Dead.

Now that you mention the Toclafane and 'The End of the World' so closely together, I now wonder if Cassandra would have played a role somewhere in the Toclafane's development. Because she is... Kinda close to the Toclafane, at least as they eventually appeared in 'The Sound of Drums'/'Last of the Timelords'.

I had this conversation with someone either on Twitter (nobody calls it "X", shut up) or on KZbin, I don't exactly remember, and maybe it's possible that they need permission from Eccleston to release it. So, maybe if we ask him nicely at a con, he might give permission.

I'm pretty interested in 8th Doctor lost media, there's apparently like 44 scripts written for this animated 8th Doctor show from 1997 that was going to go ahead until some BBC higher-up declined it. Only tiny parts of some episodes have leaked and almost no attention gets put to this crazy amount of lost media.
@TastySalamanders4 ай бұрын
I believe it was actually earlier in the 90s since I'm fairly sure it was before the tv movie. So the "Eighth Doctor" in it wasn't going to be THE Eighth Doctor as he eventually became. (Also unclear if he would have even been the Eighth Doctor in the animated continuity since it might have just sort of done it's own thing.)
@golden_gloo4 ай бұрын
No, I think you're referring to the Nelvana animated series which was earlier in the wilderness years and never got past the concept art stage, for the better I think lol judging by what they were changing. However in 1997, after the TV movie, there were plans to have a TV series with Mcgann that then changed into an animation that then just got cancelled entirely. Some of its scripts were apparently written for a live action TV show though. It's really hard to find information about this series, unlike the Nelvana one, no videos exist online about it, there's only a short page on the wiki and has only ever been mentioned in a Doctor Who Magazine from ''97 where there was an except of one of the scripts and in a fanzine Vworp Vworp! issue 5 from 2022. Here's a link to the wiki page about this tv show: tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Doctor_Who:_The_Animated_Series_(unproduced_TV_series)

As someone said in the comment section of fellow Whotuber HarboWholmes’s video on the Metacrisis plotline, the irony is that Eccleston’s departure actually created a real ending for Series 1 that provided it with closure. Otherwise, we would have gotten another Davies finale dues ex machina, like all his series (except Series 2) had.
@arlowho38444 ай бұрын
It was done entirely to cover up the fact that Chris was leaving, I don’t think it was ever intended as a proper ending for the series. As it was written after they knew he was leaving. There is a possibility it was an idea in rtd’s head but before he said he was leaving but I feel like it would have been way different as JB was gonna stick around for series 2 if 9 continued.

I like the idea that the toglefaine would have been the villains in the end at season 1. I love the daleks but when they appear especially after the time war I think it should be more special and a much bigger threat. If it were up to me I would have kept Dalek the same, made the 2 part ending of season 1 be the dalek emperor in a much more damaged ship create the toglefaine because he can't make more daleks which I think works better for having the humans be harvested to create them and keeping the daleks scarce. I would have kept doomsday the same but had the thing in the genesis ark be something like a darlek cloning vat and not a million daleks to keep the few but also to keep the threat the same as the potential of rebirthing the daleks is there. The human dalek stuff I would change but not in the ending of caan leaving to go into thr time war. I'd keep the stolen earth exactly the same it was perfect and it would be even better if it was the first time in new who we see so many daleks.

The Doctor creating Rose as the perfect companion idea is strongly ripped off of events in the Eighth Doctor novels (a handful of years before the TV series in 2005). There the Doctor, messed up and hurting after his regeneration, kinda subconsciously changed the timeline of a young woman called Sam who became his companion. The original real Sam was a drug addict with mental health problems but she turned into a perfect goody two shoes companion in the early novels then 6 novels in in the excellent novel Alien Bodies by Lawrence Miles the change and weird messed up situation started to be revealed. In fairness to the Doctor it was a freak accident and not something he did intentionally. I’d recommend reading Allen Bodies if you haven’t - one of the all time best Doctor Who stories. Don’t feel the need to read the previous 5 novels before it in the series and most of them were poor.

I imagine the "Gay Daleks" thing is a misremembering of the actual Gay Daleks segment on awful Channel 4 show TV Offal, where the only jokes involve Daleks perving over Michael Portillo and ex-sperm-inating over each other (and yes, that actually happened) which certainly did damage their brand.

we know for a fact that the doctor who execs (which includes russell) lied about eccleston in the papers back in 2005, so i wouldn’t be so quick to make fun of hancock. maybe we should actually be grateful for any so-called “homophobia” coming from russell’s bosses at the time, lest we could have gotten back then what we have now: propaganda. you can’t say russell wouldn’t have wanted a cartoon series about gay daleks with a straight face, especially when we literally have RTD & Alex Kurtzman (current Star Trek boss) teaming up and rambling at SDCC about fan bigotry. if you know anything about current trek, that’s exactly the sort of show they have been producing for years.

Are we watching the same show? Like NOW? the 9th doctor and jack literally kiss in season 1, the 12th doctor continously talks about his man crushes and the doctor has been a flipping woman. I think its safe to say the doctor is probably bi/pansexual and most likely asexual 😂
@alfredvickers40544 ай бұрын
@@connorhewitt399 The 9th Doctor was fresh off the Time War and full of self-loathing. The fact that he didn't wallop Jack for that sexual assault doesn't make him gay. Sarcastic banter with a gay man doesn't make him gay either. The 12th Doctor speaking of "man-crushes" doesn't mean he wants to have sex with them. The Doctor randomly became a woman after more than 50 years, without any real explanation. We're just supposed to suddenly pretend Time Lords have always swapped gender between regenerations, that it is not uncommon, despite the fact that there was none of this in the classic series and even in the early years of the revival series. Suddenly the Master is female, we witness another Time Lord become female, then the Doctor becomes female, and now the show wants to gaslight fans into believing that it's always been this way. Ridiculous. Nor was the Doctor ever gay in the classic series, or the TV movie, or any of the officially licensed stories of the wilderness years, and he still was never gay from 2005-2017 (9 & 10 had feelings for Rose, and John Smith loved Joan, then 11 married River Song, and 12 spent 24 years straight with her; the Doctor was exclusively interested in women). Suddenly the female Doctor is interested in a gay relationship (at least there's consistency in having an interest in women), then randomly becomes David Tennant again who now, out of nowhere, expresses an interest in Isaac Newton of all people, at which time Donna tries to gaslight the Doctor and the audience into believing that he was always a little bit gay (we the viewers know that was never the case, saw it with our own eyes). Then a race-swapped version of the Doctor who is extremely gay pops out of David Tennant's crotch. The Doctor first being a Lesbian and now a gay man are very recent developments. You are contributing to the gaslighting by trying to use developments from just the last few years to prove the Doctor's always been gay or bi. Even if the Doctor was actually gay or bi from the beginning of the revival, that would still be a huge change from the classic series and would only bolster the legitimacy of the Terry Nation Estate's fears that RTD could introduce a gay Dalek. Given how hard you're defending the change in sexuality of the title character, I'm sure you _would_ defend a gay Dalek if RTD introduces one next series. (The show has already had a gay Silurian and will apparently have another one in the next Christmas special, so this very thing's already been done to another classic foe of the Doctor.) That's how it always goes with you disingenuous people: someone brings up a valid concern, your type dismiss it as hilariously over the top "phobia" and then when it does happen, proving the fears weren't unfounded, you pivot to defending the change you acted like was never going to happen, and turn around and shame those who brought up the concern in the first place. And with how I've laid it all out here, it emphasizes just how absurd the series has already gotten, turning virtually everyone gay. Newsflash: the vast majority of people are not gay and never will be. So much for wanting a wide audience. No wonder the show is failing! (And in your last sentence you state an absurdity. How could the Doctor simultaneously be both homosexual/bisexual AND asexual? Either he experiences sexual attraction or he does not. You people can't even keep your ideology consistent within the same breath!) Anyway, I don't watch Doctor Who anymore because I'm not gay and have no interest in gay dance theater. And judging by the dismal ratings of the latest season, I'm far from alone. 😆 It is evident to me that RTD had reins keeping him in check 20 years ago, and thank God for that or else the modern series would've been as unwatchable as it is now from Day 1.
