The other hand of Vecna is a joke since it is still attached to Vecna. Kas used his sword to cut off the main when when Vecna was ascending to godhood which is why it was left behind(and the sword can destroy it)

Vampire SPAWN, not a true vampire. You become the same, enslaved weakling that Astarion was prior to his ascension. A true vampire has more fancy abilities than just biting people.

There's actually the possibility that he makes you a Vampire Bride/Groom which is different from the typical spawn. There's still prerequisites to making one, but with how Larian seems have "sweetened" the romances between the "bad" routes for the companions in the good endings(God Gale, Ascendant Vampire, Dark Justiciar Shart), part of me thinks that while Ascendant Astarion is still evil, they've written him so he still gives his romance more freedoms than typical Spawn.

@@dorrianbrooks9408yeah there’s a couple of dialogue chains w/ romanced Astarion where he says he, unlike Cazador, let you have *one drop* of his blood, apparently granting you a bit of the same powers he has as an ascendant. Just don’t try to read his thoughts about you if you want to maintain the illusion that you’ve got a modicum of freedom as his romance partner, lol

@Socialjusticehotdog He promises that but will he deliver? Like Astarion says in obe of his early game dialogues, the biggest threat to a vampire is a rival vampire, so they don't like to give freedom to their thralls since that means turning a servant into a potential enemy

@ yeah exactly, there really isn’t any reason to trust what he says. But in relation to the comment I responded to, it is indeed what he says, haha.. The ascendant version of his character is I think very well written in this sense. He becomes a completely unreliable narrator and it’s up to the player to decide how they feel about him. I personally never prefer to ascend him as I feel like his actual character is totally lost to it.

You can “play paragon” and still get very high approval with Astarion in Act 1 through camp dialog choices, giving him the Necromancy of Thay, letting him feed on you, and agreeing to sleep with him. To avoid a lot of disapproval, leave him out of your party when doing stuff like rescuing Arabella, rescuing Councilor Florrick, and rescuing the gnomes in Grymforge 😸

Remember all. The best necromancer is a lvl 6 druid of the spores and level 6 wizard necromancer. Druid of the spores gets the fungus summons which are individual, and dont replace animate dead or another fungus summon. You get four if i remember right and they dont use spell slots. Then with animate dead upcasted you can get three from battalion. 4 when you reach high enough in necromancer. A druid is tanky and has LOTS of CC spells. With symbiotic entity you get a healthy level of extra health. And it's a spellcaster class so when you multiclass into wizard you can still get into the good stuff and fill in gaps with learning from scrolls. Dont forget dance of the macabre for the extra 4 summons! Have shadowheart cast a high level aid and voila. Tanky undead summons that propagate more with crawling gnaw, CC when enemies are forced to deal with them, and a tanky druid to cast spells.

For those last two items, it could be that it needs to be an enemy causing the saving throw or status effect, not an ally. I mean, I'm not 100% sure if the game actually makes a distinction between the two, but it seems like a possibility

Yes it does! There is some effect in the game that only affects enemies.

3:08 *Spoilers* Talking to the other spawn does not make Astarion change his mind about ascending. In fact, he’s the only origin character that cannot be influenced by past actions to not want to ascend. For example, depending on your actions, Gale will choose to not become a god or Shadowheart will choose to not kill Dame Aylin if you choose good options leading up to those moments. All origin characters, except Astarion, will have an option for the playable character to say that it’s the origin character’s decision to make, and whatever they choose is determined by the options the PC had chosen during the course of the journey. However, the PC does not have a dialogue choice where they can say it’s up to Astarion to decide. Instead, Astarion will always want to ascend and you will be forced to pass a really high DC to persuade him not to. I’ve played and fully completed the game multiple times, always romanced Astarion, and no matter what good options I chose, he was always firm about wanting to ascend. Your only choices are to kill least 1 of the 6 siblings, have only Astarion open Cazador’s coffin alone, or pass the 18 DC to convince him not to do it (You can get a 15 DC instead in order to persuade him, but you have to first pass a 20 DC insight roll). He will remain in the party this way. However, if you simply say no to him, then he won’t ascend, but will leave the party. If you have him open up the coffin without the PC but with any other good companion, then they will not help him see his scars (Minthara, on the other hand, will automatically help him), so he won’t ascend, but will again leave the party.

I think after I failed it multiple times and realised there is a FREAKING map on the ground beforehand, it became easy. Not "I can do it in my sleep" easy, just "I no longer die and have to restart" easy.

If you want a funny weird interaction, you can cast seeming on polymorphed and wild-shaped people. You can also cast it on the Emperor at the end of the game and he is naked, it's pretty funny.

On my second playthrough I decided to wait and let the vampires kidnap Astarion, because I was expecting something similar to rescuing the wardens from Fort Drakon in Dragon Age: Origins. And I was so disappointed when there was NOTHING. Just some dialogue and some checks and than nothing when Astarion escapes or reunites with the team. And the vampires are so easy to defeat, it actually takes some effort to let them kidnap him...

I don't think so. The Ascension protects Astarion from the sun, and I think he also grants that protection to Tav. Never tried it out myself because it would break my heart, but I've never seen any clips, and I've seen plenty of clips.

Tav doesn't get affected even if you break up with Astarion before the ending. At least for now, Larian may change things in the new patches

for sure not if sties in the romance (Astarion "extends his protection"), but for broken-up, personal endings generally don't tell much about your own character and most of your ending comes from your romance even as origin, except for the evil ending, so... (example: ascended Astarion origin with Shadowheart - I had the cottage stuff, not any vampire lord stuff, when I tried unromanced by breaking up before the ending, I only had a tiny set of choices at to if I'm going evil and how or maybe just not evil) from interesting useless facts I discovered: vamp PC gets the "vampire run" Astarion has when catching up, it's just a fun little detail I couldn't resist to record xD

Nope. The playable character doesn’t suffer from any of the weaknesses that usually affect vampires. Even if they break up with Astarion, they can still be in sunlight, be in running water, have a reflection (something the tadpole couldn’t even do for Astarion), garlic doesn’t hurt them, and Astarion will still let them bite him (he gets the Bloodless status while the PC gets the Happy status). This is still the same after the tadpoles are destroyed, including Astarion allowing the PC to bite him. So Astarion is either still extending the benefits even though they’re not together, or he’s lying about extending the benefits and they automatically have them because of how he turned them. It’s either that all of his spawn will get these benefits, or he turned the PC into his spouse, which would be more likely. After all, if they were a regular spawn, then he would be capable of compelling them, and if he were capable of compelling them, then why doesn’t he compel them to not bite him, especially if they’re not together anymore? The only other thing it could be is that the game devs just messed up or didn’t care to change anything. Although, I noticed that Astarion and the PC are the only vampires that can be bitten. All other vampires are counted as undead, and it won’t let Astarion nor the PC bite them. That makes sense since Astarion’s heart starts beating again after ascending, which makes him a living vampire, so no longer undead. But then that also means that the PC is a living vampire as well since Astarion can still bite them after they’re turned. So I guess the game devs purposely made it so that Astarion and the PC have special circumstances applied to them that wasn’t applied to other vampires.

It would be nice if I could still play BG3. I beat it twice and have over 250 hours, but now, when I load the game, it gives me an error message and crashes to my desktop after playing for a few minutes. I used Revo Uninstaller and reloaded the game from Steam, and I had the same error message. I had a friend copy his GOG version of the game, and after uninstalling it again and using the GOG installer, it still has the same error message. It says it detects a data mismatch, and I do not know how to fix it. I never used mods and have uninstalled and reinstalled from two different sources and get the same error every time.

@ThatOne-s6g I tried that twice. One time, after fully uninstalling the game, they said the game was missing a file or that file was corrupted. I don't see how it is missing a file after a fresh install. I have tried everything short of reformatting my machine and doing a fresh install of Windows.

I keep hearing about taking Gale's hand to the Tribunal and I tried this in another evil Durge playthrough. But I could never trigger them summoning the spirit. It always went into 'But you're no blah blah blah. I didn't expect to see you again.' Can you tell me what dialogue options you use to trigger that? I was hyped to see it all game, and was thoroughly disappointed when I couldn't get it to trigger :c

Yeah I'd say make sure not to have any other hands in your inventory, just Gale's, and then say you still want to prove yourself I think.

The robes in her room have no effects and are just mundane light armour. The robe Isobel wear has the special effects, as shown. They are not the same.
