Congrats for being the first with a hands on review for this great looking watch. I can imagine this on a thick sail cloth strap. Seiko always has an ace up the sleeve.

The hour markers are in fact pressed from the reverse side. I didn't believe it until I saw a photo. As a Sarb017 owner the Prospex Alpinists have left me cold but this one looks good.

Being a sucker for Alpinists and black watches this definitely will be on my list but a little confused by different sheens of black, shiny in some places, sand blasted in dial, and then brushed/matte in the bracelet. With black watches light play isn’t a thing but uniformity/consistency is.

Congrats on getting this on the channel! Looks amazing, especially that textured dial. I love my Alpinist (SPB197, which is the 'Mountain Glacier' version), which is the perfect size and has so much visual interest. But I've had real problems with the 6R35 movement, which started well but after 2 months was losing 60 seconds + /day on wrist (180 if left 12 up, which seems to be the problem). It's gone back to Seiko, and hoping it can be sorted out ....

I had the same problem with a 6R35A movement, I was losing 120 seconds a day. Went back to Seiko a over a year ago, was with them for around 4-5 weeks, all sorted and has been fine ever since 🙂

@@Dolbinator97 They sorted mine out too, within the same timeframe. Still loses 10 seconds a day, but I can just about live with it! (I have another 6R35 which performs much better - sadly a bit hit and miss with these).

Hi Barry, beautiful Seiko Alpinist full black PVD , have the European Grey “Rock Face” Seiko Alpinist limited edition 3000 pieces, the movement is very accurate plus 70 hours power reserve is a must 👌 and is anti magnetic as your version is , nice review on that black version wish mine had a steel bracelet ( need to buy one ) my package comes with 2 straps 1 in grey canvas and a beautiful blue leather bought with a clasp ! I not a fan the any of the compass model I still prefer the smaller 38mm mini Alpinist model and mostly the one I own and show in the video , The SPB159 , The double crown just doest work on a small watch I find

@@ClickSpringReview yes the one you shown is nice except the immodest use of the ✖ is down to taste i find it intrusive, i never really used the second crown nor did it annoy me if it moved i find there's no space on the dial for the ✖ i think that's what separates the premium from the commercial line in my opinion... I must say though had my model not been as blingy the green and gold I'd have kept it.. It is the most accurate mechanical I've owned from factory new, I've second per day plus or minus after you've laid in the direction you wish to bring it back to exactness

I was looking for a black Alpinist as my mehanical field watch when decided to get it as I am not fan of steel colour of the watch and then just came golden colour Alpinist Sunbeam Forest Green SPB210J1 which is beautiful and with very natural look when being on the expedition. It looks even beter when wearing it than on the photos. I liked the look of Samurai black but I am not sure that I like the black version of the Alpinist, it is not sympatical on the screen, ...maybe it is "with real" view.

I completely understand where your coming from the Alpinist range to me has always been about the dial colour and this one being all black just doesn't have that

I have the Alpinist Rock Face which is a beautiful looking watch. I like the dial on this one and the hands, but the black on the rest of the watch just doesn’t do it for me.

I would say if you have a collection go with the black as its something different were the green goes with everything looks good with a shirt or a T with jeans

After seeing many black coated watches, I realize that, It bother the shit out of me. I think this is because I know it's a coating. I would even pass a black Sinn Tegimented in favor of the non color coated. For the Alpinist, my favorite is SPB123J1, I would really want one.

The SPB123 is a classy looking model and I myself prefer it to the black one , I've seen a few really marked up older black watches and have to say I think they look cool but my black Sinn U2 still looks like new after 10 years lol

Trust me knowing Seiko the brand with more limit and Special editions than than many companies have in there normal range there we be a ton more , Think it was in 2020 Seiko released 127 LE models

If you Lay the watch horizontally and align the hour hand of the watch with the direction of the sun. The middle point between the alignment of the sun with the hour hand, and the 12 o'clock position on the dial, approximately indicates south 👍🏻

I've seen some black watches all scratched up and they look great for it but if you don't like scratches but still want a black watch I'd get a Sinn with their super hard coating. I've couple and one is 10 years old and even the clasp looks like new Tim 👍🏻
