If you buy them new, they are banded compressed out of the box, they go in very easy bottom first!

I literally just installed those same rear shocks on my truck yesterday. Regular cab short bed 4x4. Very choppy ride with stock shocks. Made all the difference! Very happy! So much so that I bought the front set a couple of hours later. Might as well do all four corners now.

@@ethanspruill7539 I have only installed the rears so far. The fronts are sitting in my basement. At this point I might as well wait until the stock ones are worn out. I do hear that the fronts are a bit rougher of a ride than stock though.

@@hdz12ez well i would expect that just like the rears. the question is if it’s better to have the 5100’s on all 4 corners or just the rear. i am hoping and thinking that it’s better with all 4 installed because of the better handling. is body roll not a problem in the front or something?
@hdz12ez
@hdz12ez 2 жыл бұрын
@@ethanspruill7539 I would imagine that the handling is better but body roll is not a problem with the stock fronts. I'm sure that having all four corners done would be a better ride overall.

I put a roadmaster active suspension on my 2011 f150. In doing so I noticed my left rear shock was bad. I also need to do the front 4x4 actuators so it's a good time to do the front shocks also.

I just bought a pair for my F150, and, they were not that expensive, why put used ones on? Is it worth the time and labor to put something that you really can not trust on the truck.I think I bought a pair for about 160 bucks.

Good job on the install and I like your videos, but a whole kit with front adjustable height struts and rear shocks is under $400 with shipping. Did it make sense to buy these rear shocks used? I installed the whole kit in my garage. Rear is super easy, front was a pain.
@WICKEDAUTO1
@WICKEDAUTO1 5 жыл бұрын
Yep, the price and little usage was why I had to grab them at the moment. It was only $60 for the pair plus shipping. Couldnt beat it. The front I'm sure was a pain! Have thought about the whole set but a simple block in the front suits for now, still have my fingers crossed I'll win a give away and put a 4in lift on lol

Sorry for all the trouble you are having but I need to ask. You have the piston slap and the oil consumption? I’m looking at an 11/17 build date on a 5.0 F1 50 killer deal I’m just worried I should buy a 19 build date model maybe less problems? What do you think
@WICKEDAUTO1
@WICKEDAUTO1 5 жыл бұрын
Well there are 19s with the rattle, oil and dash warp so it would still be just a luck of the draw honestly. I would still get a ford if that's what you want though. With the 5.0 or 3.5 it seems to be luck of the draw.

WickedF150 🤷🏻‍♂️ maybe. I got mine used with about 40k on them and they were a big upgrade to the factory 240k miles shocks my old 4runner had. I actually just bought a brand new set today for my replacement 4runner. I am looking forward to see what new ones are like compared to used ones.
@WICKEDAUTO1
@WICKEDAUTO1 5 жыл бұрын
@@GXKid06 I'm sure you'll be able to notice a difference with 40k on the first set. Have you gotten the fronts to match? If so, are they really worth it?
@GXKid06
@GXKid06 5 жыл бұрын
So my situation is interesting. I had a blue 2000 4runner with those 5100s that i got from a guy I met at a 4runner meet. Got them about 2 years ago. Put maybe 6k miles on them and the last 1k i had air lift in the back because I had to tow a boat. The air lift was nice it made the ride smooth. I wish i could have salvaged them. That rig got totaled back in October. I bought another identical one in February with factory 193k mile suspension. A couple months back I was able to snag original 2006 trd tundra front Bilstein shocks and coil over for the front. Guy claimed they only had 10 miles on them and they had been sitting on a shelf since 2006. And they look new so I believe him. But those are meant for a tundra that is at least 1,000 pounds heavier. So for the first 1k miles or so its was a rough ride but they have softened a bit. That also lifted the front end about 2 inches. I really noticed my braking be a lot better because I no longer had nose dive. Completely gone. Today I finally found the money to buy brand new 5100s for the rear that are supposed to give me 1.5-3 inch of lift travel. I also bought some Old Man Emu 906 springs what will lift it 2 inches. Those springs are designed to be thicker and hold 300 pounds without sagging. So im expecting the ride to be firm but controlled. Because right now its just blown shocks and saggy springs. And don’t even get me started on the ugly squat it has right now 😂. As for you’re question, yes get the fronts. I really believe in these shocks. From what I remember of my last one, the ride was really controlled and smooth. I had also replaced my steering rack and sway bar bushings with polly urethane bushings and that made the steering feel a lot more direct and sharper. Also you can look in to getting better bump stops. I got some called Durobumps for the back of my 4runner and that is the only way I am surviving with the blown shocks right now. They are a progressive rate bump stop. So at first they are really squishy rubber but the slowly get to stiffer rubber to act as a second shock absorber. Hope this helps. Sorry for the long reply.
