I have the Mini in NV on the FX. It resets the reticule to the center of the screen after zeroing. How about this scope? I see your reticle is way down on the vertical axel.

Does this share a mounting footprint with anything? It looks very similar to an acog mount.
@foxoptic5887
@foxoptic5887 Жыл бұрын
It does, I am running the American Defense Trijicon Mini ACOG mount AD-B2 on mine. The Sightmark Wraith Quick release also fits it. You want to be a little cautious as some manufacturers have a small vertical rise at the top of the interface angle. I don't know if that would interfere or not, the AMD mount doesn't have that.

What does the auto calibration do? Is that adjusting for range?
@foxoptic5887
@foxoptic5887 Жыл бұрын
Calibration or NUC calibrates the microbolometer for unequal heat build-up around the sensor. This essentially optimizes the image by compensating for internal heat build-up created by the processor and electrical components "running" inside the device close to the sensor. In the past (and on a few other devices still to this day) it was necessary to perform manual NUC's by closing the lens cap before pressing a calibration button. (Basically, this ensures all the individual sensor receptors are reading the same value when pointed at a single emission source) Auto and Semi-auto NUC'ing simplify this procedure with a small internal camera-style shutter that automatically closes so that the user doesn't have to close the cap. (Way easier, especially out in the elements. The most sophisticated devices today will offer all 3 calibration methods. Auto: The program senses when to calibrate by "watching" the values being fed to the display, when vertical lines start to form (recognized by the signal values) the unit will automatically perform this function. The shutter closes and the program calibrates automatically. (The downside to this can be the 1-second image pause to calibrate can catch the user off guard) Semi-Auto: The user determines calibrations by visibly watching the image and performing them by pressing the CAL button, at which point the internal shutter closes and the program calibrates. In Semi-Auto the unit will only calibrate when "told to do so" by pressing the CAL button. (Most units can be Semi-Auto calibrated in Automatic mode at any time by pressing the CAL button also .) Manual: The unit's cap must be closed to block the sensor and then press the CAL button. Some will argue this provides the most accurate calibration as the cap is at the surrounding ambient temperate, however, I would argue this also offers new ways to introduce disproportionate heat if not done properly and the main goal is just reading consistency throughout the sensor array. (Touching the cap with an ungloved hand introduces heat into the cap material itself) I really only see Manual as a necessity in situations where the audible click of the shutter needs to be avoided and or if there is a problem with the internal shutter. (rare but it does happen occasionally) Calibration has nothing to do with range adjustment. (Sorry for the long explanation but I get the question a bit and have boiler-plated the response)

I really dont need the detail that comes with 640 types. I want to slap this on my 300 blackout (16 inch). My question.. recticles.. Im currently running the ACOG RCO 4x32. That has a drop compensator for the 300 blackout ammo. I know Trijicon has a termal with a 300 blackout reticle. I need a cheaper one. Lol

How easy is it to zero?
@foxoptic5887
@foxoptic5887 Жыл бұрын
Super easy, the same 1-Shot Zero as the Sightmark Wraith Mini 4K units. Essentially aim the reticle at the target, and shoot, then hold the reticle on the initial aiming point and move a visible red X to the bullet impact location, hit the center button once and the next shot will be on target. Very simple and intuitive.

It certainly is not as big as the Pulsar AMOLED display screens, however, even though I have decently "old" eyes and normally don't get to far from cheaters, its bright enough that I don't have any issues seeing it.

Sorry to hear this. Most guys are getting along fine with the 4K Max. (Discontinued) The 4K Max was made in China by a different company than the 4K Mini and HD series. These thermals are made in Thailand using the French Lynred sensor. (Based on my experience with 4K Mini, I think they will prove to be extremely reliable)
