We had several extreme wildfire years here in California a while back. One of them was so bad, we called two days “the days without sun”. All my silver jewelry turned black, even though it was in drawers or cabinets. It took me two winters of polishing it in the evenings to restore it all, then I stored each item in little jewelry ziplock bag with an anti-tarnish strip. I still have a few silver tableware pieces that I still haven’t polished yet and the fires began in 2015! I had a few brass jewelry items that I loved, too, they turned black and nothing seems to work on those. Not that my silver jewelry is all stored away, I’m much less likely to wear it now, I’ve given away most of it, except for some unique or vintage items. My pro color analysis 40 years ago recommended that I wear the white metals, but I love nged for yellow gold (or “gold”), so I switched to that. My colorng is close to neuteal anyway and jewelry doesn’t take up much space, itI’m a lot less enthusiastic about buying brass and silver these days!
