It's a good Q & E session. First thing the world should stop calling NPP a Marxist party/gov. The people who voted for AKD don't expect overnight reforms. Priority thing most people want is the corrupt old regimes of Rajapaksa and Wickramasinghe to be out of any power as soon as possible. Then the long lasting political reforms to be brought in through a transparent process of parliamentary election and to form a stable gov. Also, from day 1, AKD and his party needs to continue talks with IMF and other creditors using the current administration process of central bank, the treasury and debt restructuring team who are not political. Some harsh IMF reforms as high taxes and reduced subsidies on public services needs to be renegotiated with IMF.

It is very unfair to label NPP as a Marxist political party because NPP is a broad political front of various people from all walks of life and the primary/main objective of NPP is to build a better Sri Lanka based on "Advanced True Democracy". NPP is a comprehensive platform for addressing the grievances of Sri Lankans based on justice, equity, fairness, etc. The founding father of modern China, the late Hon. Deng Xiaoping came from the Chinese Communist Party, however, later he transformed China into a global giant, and China is the second-largest economy in the modern world.
