Hi Joe and all the folks of Presonus. Thanx for this video. I have always updated my 16R but didn't notice the interface mode. For the 16R (and for me) it is a gamechanger: The 16R now has become a 24X24 USB interface, so I can route the 19-24 to the physical outputs (which give me 3 extra headphone mixes) and, like you explained, the external routing to analog effects, amps... And all controlled from Studio One! Well done, Presonus!!

@@shawnlindell6702 Ya I messed with it trying to figure it out for hours using Pro Tools, When set up like it should be it routes the sends to the channels of the board not the mix sends out of the back so I am back to using the mix select sends to get audio in to my rack mount and then back in on in on line in channels like before.

It would be great if when choosing interface mode it allowed you to select how many flex mixes you want disabled so that they act a direct DAW outputs. It would be also great that direct Daw outputs can still benefit from processing from the inbuilt dsp. May selecting the corresponding flex mix, the inputs are disabled but the master fader is not so that you can insert plugins on the aux master.

Once the mixer is in Interface Mode you can individually change any FlexMix back on by selecting it and changing the source from USB to Analog, then that FlexMix will be active again.

@@BeerswiththeBeard you are the man. Thanks for the tip. That is really great news. I never really need 16 flex mixes or 16 DAW outputs, I'd rather have 8 of each and work in a hybrid setup.

@@BeerswiththeBeard I've been testing the work flow. It works perfectly. After I select interface mode I then go and select the master of the flex mix I need switched back and select Local Bus instead of interface (Bypass).

Can interface mode also address the AVB channels?That would be a real godsend… I have four Studiolive III mixers in an AVB network, routing stuff is really clumsy and confusing

I was really hoping that this video was going to show definitively how to use Interface Mode so I could look at using reamping techniques which, at the moment, I cannot figure out. A step by step video would be great showing how to do this.

Joe. I have a UAD Apollo + Satellite setup which I love especially for tracking guitars but inputs are limited. Any thoughts on possible integration with new SL mixers? I use fader port 16 which I also like but was considering a upgrade to a mixer with their new interface mode. Any ideas on how a Apollo and SL console might coexists ? Thx for all you do.

Hi Joe, in your great video, I noticed that you have BOTH a USB (Studie Live II) AND an THUNDERBOLT (the Presonus26/26) interface Hooked up to Studio One .. AT THE SAME TIME ! I didn't know that this was possible ?.. Is that only because your are using a Mac computer .. or is this Also possible on a Windows Computer ? .... if this is possible on the Windows PC, we can now buy a Studio Live Mixer additional to my Presonus Quantum interface 🙂!

So, if I have Cranesong modules (AD/DA to AVOCET) which are routed via light-pipe, in order to bypass the SL3 converters, I'm still required to aggregate in order to take advantage of my high quality 8 channel digital sum, EGRET (if that is even possible). besides Motu's AVB ADAT interface, there is no effective way to achieve this as of yet. SL3 won't budge on expanding out of the eco system as it only has 1 AES out... in the end, it seems as if any other mixer with ADAT cards have an advantage in the described formation, respectfully.

Awesome. Im in interface mode now and trying to setup my cue mix for my tracking headphone. The intention is to be able to send a louder Vox signal to the headphones without touching my initial gain stage setup for mixing. I can't figure out how to do this. I tried routing my cues to 15&16 then plug the headphones in but hear nothing am I doing something silly here?

Hi Joe, would it be possible to get a step by step tutorial because this confuses the hell out me. Im trying to send a track from Studio one to my pedals and back.. Pipeline isn't showing the signal coming back at all. In fact there is no signal returning whether I have the ramp and DI in line or not. I understand I probably have a routing issue. The problem is Im struggling to figure out what the problem is. It seems a lot of people are in the same boat. I just need a simple explanation (stripped back instructions) on what to do from start to finish and why.

Confusing what you say and I still dont get it, what is it that you are trying to say. I will have to try it out by my self because I still dont know what to use this for, and the thing you said with guitar pedals is even more confusing.. Balanced XLR out to unbalanced guitar pedals, means you are using DI and reamp boxes because Studio Live dont come with instrument level on inputs and outputs. Anyways time to test this out.

I’m really debating on whether I should buy a quantum 4848 to use with my 32s. Is the USB interface that the 32s has built into it equal to the converters in the 4848? I want to go out from studio one into the board using the analog inputs from the board and outputs from the 4848. Is this redundant? I’d also like to see how I’d set up a analog summing box to the 32s. Please help

Hey Joe. I send some channels to a stereo flex mix 7 and 8 and have that come out the back of my SL32SC into the stereo audio input of my PC in order to run my live streams. Is this new feature something I can do to help me route that stuff without affecting what I send to my PC? TIA. ~ Paul @ Love Audio.

So if I want to do Analog Summing I can group all my 64s channels right to the back. Channels 1-8 can be routed to dir output 1-2 on the back of the console and 9-16 to dir out 3-4 on the back of the console 17-24 and so on. I’m trying to explain this the bet I can. Also your thoughts on Analog Summing would be much appreciated thx!

I need some help with this. I have this mixer connected to my Mac but I need to have my MPC connected to the mixer as well. Was wondering how you might connect this to a computer and MPC at the same time via USB. I tried a hub but it only recognises one thing at a time. So either the MPC can recognise the mixer but the Mac won't, or the Mac can recognise the mixer but the MPC wont even though they are on the same usb hub, any ideas of a solution?

In the market for one. Are the preamps transparent? If I we’re to run my mic into a preamp of my choice, then into the studiolive, do the studiolive’s preamp add any additional color or tone to my signal? Am I able to bypass the preamp? Any feedback is appreciated.

Hi Joe! Sean here. I have a question. I am an FOH engineer at our church. On my experiment and freetime, I run Steven Slate drum trigger 2 in Studio One Artist. It runs perfectly fine on USB mode with pre: analog send and have the channels routed in and out on the same channels each so I still have control of the faders and can add additional processing on the board before it plays back on the pa speakers. But... my concern is, it only uses the back of the mixer input. It gets crazy when I bring in the 16r. We use the 16r as our stagebox and I want the input signals to be coming from there. The signals of the 16r can be read by the DAW but the sound I get only comes from the 16r as if there is no laptop involved. Is it possible to make a video about that? Hey Joe, thanks for the Video, but the new Firmware have some bugs ... Aux Inputs only mono when you switch to 44.1 khz. Thats no option for me to use this Firmware. Presonus known about this bug and do nothing to fix it.

My band has just started using backing tracks. Typically, I would need to be bring an interface and then connect 6 outs to the PA to get a separate mix for each track (click, keys, guitars, etc.). I was hoping with my 32SC to use it for the backing tracks AND run FOH with it but I haven't been able to figure out the routing when using it with Ableton Live running on my MacBook Pro connected to the 32SC via USB. Is it possible to be in interface mode AND run FOH?

Yes, in interface mode the FOH mix will continue to operate as expected with no change. You can also change any FlexMix back on by changing the source from USB to Analog.

Does interface mode change avb pre-fader outputs? I use AVB to feed a Behringer Powerplay via a 32R acting as a stagebox...I have spent many dark, late hours screaming at UC and S1 expecting this kind of functionality without the need for complicated matrix mixes...but don't want to lose all that by going to 'interface mode' if it messes with AVB

Please stay on subject. One minute you are routing the next you are updating firmware. It’s hard to follow. Plug your mic into the camera next time.
