In addition to continuing to upload consistently, get a head start for 2022 by working on some infrastructure and branding-related aspects (about section, website, playlists, etc.) and strategy planning. End 2021 on a high note and figure out exactly what needs to be done in 2022.

At 18 I used my dads old laptop, a 5 year old xbox, and a $25 microphone to record and edit my first videos. Every dollar I made I put towards upgrading my setup ($10.000k) then proceeded to make over 150,000all within 8 months! My only advice. Just do it. I had no idea what I was doing, but you slowly figure it out. Nobody starting knows anything, we all start at nothing. The harder you work the more you're rewarded.

It's so weird you're telling my story. Glad to know I'm not alone in this because I just started and I'm so nervious about my growth because I lack certain things. But slowly I'm getting it done. I have an old laptop I was loaned, I just recently ordered proper headphones that come with a mic I hope will be better than me using the laptop mic, and I set aside money for my music subscription for my video production. It's hard but I'll get there. All it takes is dedication and work.

My KZbin is growing well but I want to have a proper plan and direction for more passive income revenues before taking the jump... The most priceless video you have ever made for those starting out. Money is such a taboo especially when you are trying to explain to your family about how much money you will make going this route and if it’s even possible to make money. The comparison between starting a business on KZbin and starting a brick-and-mortar business is a real revelation for me. I grew up in a family of businesspeople where dad ran a car dealership and mom ran a clothing boutique and every evening at the dinner table, I heard tons of conversations about all the problems and the challenges of running these businesses. This makes starting a business on KZbin sound like a cakewalk! Yes, there is a lot of work involved, but it's nothing compared to starting and managing a brick-and-mortar business.

Something about KZbin, I started it as a hobby, it's still a hobby just happens to pay now. The grind to get it going can be hard and at the start, I did videos for over a year before I got any traction. I'm in my mid 40's, I spend two days a week on it, have done this for the last 18 months. My channel is based around my other business, the two go hand in hand. Still, a smaller channel 43k subs, though the biggest channel in my niche in UK/Ireland. Since I started investing time into it, it has grown. Absolutely everything you say here is 100% on the money. This is a fantastic video from anyone that wants to grow a channel and how to make it.

“Challenge is when life gets interesting” Needed to hear that today. Really eye-opening and encouraging video/information. I’ve been viewing the beginning of this journey as a challenge in a negative way, when really a mind shift must occur to realize that’s exactly what I need to fuel me to where I know I can go. Nothing really worth it in life comes easy, but instead is the most challenging and indeed the most rewarding. @@shannonskiptomylife Hey there!! That’s a great question! I think we’re less inclined to need attention or “take the floor.” We mostly still like the idea of privacy and anonymity because we grew up with it. I prefer to decide about my level of visibility and it feels optional whereas younger people tend to behave as though it’s a requirement and they must do it “well” and consistently. That’s my take but all anecdotal. ☺️

Sadly this hits home so close, my parents told me the same each time I wanted to go my way, when I was 10 (you're not going to be a musician or painter, you had to start earlier like at 6 years old), then same stuff but other topic at age of 14, then 18, then 22, and only at the end of my 20s I realized that it's all wrong, I had to push, to do what I love, not listening to anybody, now at 32 it's starting working out a little bit, so please, do what you love, whatever your age is or what you have or don't have, just do it, don't afraid to ask young people to help you with it, some won't help and some will help with love, never give up, enjoy your life and your passions!

Gen X here. :-) So great to hear that we’re doing so well. But it surprises me less now that it would have a couple of years ago,. I think more older viewers are coming on to YT. And I think they like seeing older people. Meanwhile, my younger audience seems to respect a bit of older wisdom. (I talk about international relations as a university professor.) Recently I’ve found that my audience is becoming more balanced across ages. My biggest single age group is still 25-34. But around 35% of my audience is 45+. These are likely to be more affluent, so ad rates are higher and are a better bet for potential sponsors. If you are in an education-information field, being able to appeal to an multigenerational audience makes good business sense.

Absolutely great podcast!!! That one has me motivated to continue what I'm doing and keep trying to provide viewers with ways to strengthen their mind and body! I'm going to go hang out a few hundred burpees and then record a video. Thanks again for the invaluable information.

We've spent our time chasing the the suggested page and disregarded search, it was the WRONG DECISION! We've identified that as a new channel you have to start with search to grow an audience first. working on fixing it now but we've spent a LOT of time and effort and not gotten very far by making that crucial mistake.

The "what do you do?" question is kind of funny, every time I get asked my answer slightly changes... but that's due to the fast changing nature of the content creation business! I've gotten to the point where I find it fun to answer :)

This is a *VERY* interesting set of numbers. Brilliant and thank you for taking the time to make this podcast/video. On the road to 10k subs (taken 3 years) with my niche and hoping years 3 & 4 will give me the independence. And yes i'm in my 40's (42 next month)! hehe.

Your survey is impossible to fill out on mobile. When you go to type anything in. The message at the top covers the entire screen. Even the box your typing in. And when it does that for some reason it'll either type your message backwards. Or out of order from how you typed it.
