I was fortunate to have a doctor who listened to me and continued my HRT in spite of the scare. I started in 1990 after a hysterectomy and never stopped. I am 81 and still osteopenia.

Are you on HRT & that’s it nothing more for your osteopenia? I too had a hysterectomy at 42 & went on HRT too. I have osteoporosis & at 62 have had 2 rounds of Prolia but I don’t want to continue with the Prolia
@barbaramoor391Ай бұрын
@ I do eat healthy and have never smoked or drank alcohol. I’m sure HRT made the difference for me. I would never take prolia or any of those drugs. Sometime in 2000 I took Fosomax for 3 months before My chiropractor explained to me how it worked and I stopped My last Dexa was 11/2022 so I’m getting another one 11/30 and I’ll see how I’m doing now that I’m only getting 1 gm of estradiol for last 4 years. I bought a marodyn 10/2022 so I’m very interested in seeing how I’m doing. I also line dance 1-1/2 hours 3 times a week. Check back with me in December and see my results.

@@kimdavis1091if you come off of Prolia please make sure you have a relay plan ready (usually a bisphosphonate for a couple of years), don’t just stop. Bone turnover tests needed before you start, and continue , to relay off so that you can see when it’s ok to stop the relay drug. Start the HRT anyway.

Hi dr Doug. I’m 54 yrs old. I’m post menopause 9 yrs now. I’m under 100lbs, 5’3”. During the pandemic I lost my father76, mom 68, brother 49 and sister 50. They all died from heart attacks. I’m a candidate for HRT. My doctor refused to put me on HRT even though I have severe symptoms of menopause. I eat healthy and exercise 5 to 6 days a week, strength training 4 times per week
I'm so sorry to hear about your losses and the challenges you're facing. It sounds like you're taking excellent care of yourself through diet and exercise, which is so important for both heart and bone health. HRT can be an option for many women, but finding a supportive provider is key. You're doing an amazing job advocating for your health-don't give up!

Dr. Doug, your videos are a Godsend! Wanted to join your program but realised no telemedicine. Next best is to join your master classes, however, would there be any chance that future master classes can be morning eastern time, so more people from my part of the world can benefit too? I was losing 9% bone annually, perimenopausal, no doctors can find the root cause of my bone loss. My educated guess is probably my Hashimoto's. Here in Asia, doctors don't treat autoimmune conditions or offer any wholesome bone building program other than calcium or hard drugs for serious cases.

I started taking lactoferrin after watching your video about it and my last dexa showed a 2% increase. How can I get more hormones at my age? @@sophieg8522 Even though you no longer menstruate, you can still cycle using HRT. It is done by dosing estradiol and progesterone each for a specific number of days rather than taking both medications in combination continuously. Hi Dr Doug. I love your channel and would love to interview you one day. Bone health needs to be a more mainstream conversation, including amongst us young people. I’d especially like to ask about future developments or areas where more research is needed in bone health and orthopaedics. Im applying for a masters in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. And I am currently recovering from an anterior tibial stress fracture. It’s difficult to find a dr who has dealt with this condition, most ortho surgeons are knee and hip focused, rather than stress fractures, though I want a specialist bc anterior tibia are high risk. If you have advice about finding a good doctor, that would be valuable too. Please don’t feel the need to reply to all of this. I’ve overshared. But one I’m more seasoned in my KZbin / podcast I would love to arrange an interview with you. Thanks for your work :)

I’m pretty sure testosterone is good for bone health also. I would look into this however. It’s probably not good to take oestrogen or testosterone as it can cause negative feedback with the Hypothalamic pituitary gonadotropin cycle, making your body produce less testosterone naturally. Have you had your T and free T levels tested? Are there other things indicating why you have low bone density, parathyroid hormones, deficiencies, what about tumour protein intake and food, too much exercise?
