My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article kzbin.infoUgkxVYhghKWmrUgXARZ_ydZTvmmcrw5L0I5i At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is good stuff.

@arvindram
@arvindram 3 жыл бұрын
@@lottat6003 there's no need for oils in the diet. They are in fact the most calorie dense food available at 9 cal / g. Boiled rice or other grains are between 1&2 cal/g. The body needs traces of omega3 & 6 fats, which are present in most plant foods. One can add some ground flax seeds to make sure the essential fats intake is adequate.

The science is fascinating - I'm glad to have seen a detailed description of the mechanisms in the body that cause diabetes and related complications. I was found to be prediabetic last year, and started a vegan diet this year, and have found rapid improvements in so many areas. After the detailed info provided in this video, I am even more determined than ever to make a vegan diet my lifetime diet. Antioxidants are the hardworking heroes of the plant world. And they don't ask for much pay - just the cost of groceries - compared to the massive amounts paid to doctors and surgeons, not to mention the cost of pharmaceutical drugs. I would rather spend more money supporting farmers than the pharmaceutical industry with their overpriced and often damaging drugs that only ever treat symptoms without addressing the causes.

How would that measure with a light/friendly Keto diet? A diet which includes plenty of vegetables (including avocado), moderate fish/poultry/eggs, olive oil, nuts (macadamia/walnuts). A diet which obvious is very low in carbs (sugar/fructose/starch). Two meals a day.

Based on the photos, the V alternative is compared to McD hamburgers - that is to set the bar very low ! That kind of 'food' should be eaten in emergency only. Compare with some real meals like bacon & egg breakfast, some real beef for lunch, etc - and Scrap the Carbs in the nonV meal.

So the study is suggesting that I can swap out a meal with grass fed beef and a salad for sweet potatoes, french fries; and corn? That sounds like a win. Maybe the study should have had better controls on the non-vegan diet. The quickest I ever saw someone gain fat was on a vegetarian diet.

I have never liked cheese or dairy so I don't understand the trend of people putting so much effort into imitating dairy cheese by making vegan cheeses...it is really time consuming. If I want flavor, I just make tasty sauces or have veggies with hummus.

Okay, Hana, point well made; and, for that matter, point well taken too. However, the most important question, which largely remains unanswered, is what should we be eating? There are medical professionals advocating for Keto, Paleo, and so on. And yes, there are plant-based advocates as well. This potpourri is so confusing. I am trying to go plant based. But many are saying that even the complex carbohydrates, cumulatively, are high on the glycemic index. I believe that sugar is the most troublesome, and that's whether you're a diabetic or not. So, what the heck should I be eating? Please answer and/or refer me to someone with specificity. Where do I receive the guidance necessary? Your science is great. But while I accept it without question, it's obvious that more information is needed. And the questions I presented are indicative of the information that's sorely needed. Do you agree? And if so, what am I to do? And lastly, please know that I read the labels. I know that highly processed foods are no good. Thank you.

I was on a vegan diet for almost a year and I felt ill, lacked energy and had rashes, my skin was a mess! I avoided as much fat as I could except for some olive oil, flaxseeds and chia seeds! I did the vegan diet because I was diagnosed with prediabetes, then watched forks and knives, and cowspiracy on Netflix! Felt great 1st 2 or 3 months on the vegan diet, I then began constantly feeling tired and not so great. Until I stumbled upon the keto diet and watched a lot of KZbin tutorial videos on it, Dr Ken Berry, Eric Berg, Jason Fung, etc. I started it when we had gone into lockdown sometime in March of 2020! I noticed after a week I had dropped a few pounds. I was 67kg and I now weigh approximately 58kg, just over 9 stones. I don't use anymore inhalers, and all the rashes which plagued me for years has all disappeared. My skin is clear and I also look younger for my age, at least I am getting a lot of compliments on my appearance of youth. 2 months ago, my clinic requested that I take my glucose bloods and the result ... Normal glucose levels ... no more prediabetes!!! I am much more energetic and sleep better than I can remember for my whole 56 years!
