Sugar Gliders can bite hard at you every time if you don't properly bond with them. They really do take a lot of time and effort, can't be potty trained, need worms in their diet and are up all night making noises such as barking.

Moving from state to state are completely different to traveling from Asia to America. If i were to have the permits to even bring them with me, they would have to be in quarantine for weeks before they can come to my new home. Mammals are very tight and strict with the customs. Doing that actually can risk my poor fragile gliders to get sick or even die during the travel.

Thank you for your kind concerns but i explained in the video that Pikachu has never been exposed to other gliders other than his first month on earth, before his eyes were opened. We've tried many gliders and they end up in brutal fights, and it's Pikachu who starts everytime. I really wish i could give him a friend like the other glider, i did buy him for a reason but it's just one of those exceptions. Obviously when he starts self mutilation i'd even risk getting him a girlfriend.

aww! ive been watching your vids for a while then I really wanted a sugar glider and I was so exited when I saw one of your recent videos was for a sugar glider :D I wish I could keep as much pets as you your like my role model when I grow up since my family definetly wont alow me too have as much as you when im still a kid :3

I would consider them very rewarding pets but it really takes patience to tolerate their behavior at the beginning for most. Their bites can hurt yes.

surrounding, trying to mark everything possible. im so glad you know what you are getting into. it also looks like he didnt need to bond to you at all. which is awesome and rare. hes so cute. be sure your friend knows that having a glider is no small task, but im sure you'll be there to help her/him along :)

If you live in the states you might be able to Google and contact a breeder but you'd have to drive over to the breeder to pick it up.

Did the previous owner try giving him a friend before? It's been over a week and Pikachu still jumps to Emolga's cage to bite his bars, crab and hiss at him. Luckily Emolga is too frightened to take a fight through the bars. Pikachu is overall and independent alpha male, he rubs his scent glands on everything.

I would suggest that you put a heat matt under during the nights and remove them in afternoon at the beginning when it starts to get warmer. How chilly would it get?

Actually it's quite impossible for me to bring them with me cause i'm moving all the way across the world and i do not own the permits to export mammals, only reptiles.

Calcium sand is not good but calcium powder is a must for lizards and geckos.

When he bites your shirt and rubs his body on you he is marking you as "his" and part of his family. He has a scent gland on his chest like the one on his head and that's where he is marking you from. You are very lucky to have an older glider "claim" you so quickly! :) That doesn't usually happen until much later in the bonding process, especially with one who hasn't been handled much. Congrats!

I would never recommend a boa for a beginner since the large majority of them grow to a large length and they have a reputation or nippiness way beyond a ball python would.

Sorry if someone's already told you this or if you already know, but when the sugar glider was 'biting' your shirt, it might have been that he was trying to nurse it, crazy as that sounds. That happens a lot with animals who are separated from their mothers before they're weened. My cousin's cat was a rescue that was apparently separated from his mom before he was weened, and now he always try to 'nurse' blankets around the house.

i had 3 sugar gliders to begin with. They have liven together for about 5-6 years (and have had other 2 joeys). Then all of a sudden (after around 5 years together) they started killing each other off. I only have 3 left. I know you aren't an expert but do you have any ideas what could have happened?

I really wish i could get him neutered but the stupid vets here are rare on exotics. Even if taking a sugie in they wouldn't know how to neuter, only standard check ups. It's sad for Pikachu i know, but hey what can i do huh? :/ He's very very friendly and haha turns out the humping and head rubbing is a form of showing that he accepted me as his family member :') so cute.
