Vaiman tobe Yeah but do you really want to? Pure objectivity are just numbers. And that’s not how humans are. Even if you say it’s good because of these numbers, that’s no longer objective. We cannot truly take ourselves away from our own perspectives. Even if we consider what the average player would like, that is still colored by what we perceive as the average player.
@thegodforger9234 жыл бұрын
@@Ellie_deMayo That is true, but through introspection we can come to understand our biases and at a minimum express that they are, in fact, a bias. Which in turn allowed others to take one statement with a grain of salt. In essence, it's to prove that one's own experience may differ from the reviewer's.

@@thegodforger923 I would personally say you never can be completly unbiased, but a good reviewer can limit his bias to a minimum.
@vaimantobe30344 жыл бұрын
@Srirachhaa I somewhat agree. What I mean is that people sometimes use 'there is no such thing as objectivity' as a cop-out and excuse to not try to explain their view. Pure objectivity indeed doesn't exist outside of theory, but you can still give a balanced perspective by coming closer to it. You shouldn't be purely subjective either. I'm not just interested in how it makes you feel. I want to know why. Because maybe they have a different taste or worldview that underlies it. If you don't properly go over the basics like structure, contents, level of detail, what you consider craftsmanship etc., both the good and the bad, and how you came to your subjective assessment... then your review is uninformative at best and horribly pushing a personal bias without consideration at worst. That's what I meant with acting like striving for objectivity is pointless. Simply pushing through your gut feelings is barely reviewing. At least try to consider different perspectives and motivate why you have yours. Also just show us how the thing is!

I think it is also just a courtesy to the developer to mention/thank them for the free game code. Just giving a shout-out thank you to the developer for being kind enough to give you the code covers all bases, including informing the impudence, without feeling like it is some negative you have to be transparent to. It depends on how you choose to look at it. It can help the developer to give you a code but it doesn't require you to give them a good review and there are plenty of developers that do now so it shouldn't be unfair influence. There are a LOT of people they could send a code to and each one is a potential lost sale so even if you are a larger youtuber, it is still nice of them to choose you. Giving a public acknowlagment is a nice way to show your appreciation for that respect to you in their choice.

My favorite platformer of all time is Super Mario Sunshine, and I recently picked this game up because I've been playing my Wii lately. There's not a lot of Platformers that I consider to be genuinely good on modern PlayStation, and games like the Kao the kangaroo reboot and the hat in time are fun but not satisfying like Super Mario Sunshine was. Lucky's tale has some of the most satisfying movement and sound design for collecting I have experienced in a long time. It is definitely not that difficult and I suggest every time you play if you go for 100%. Something else I like to do is to collect every gem and coin in the game as well. But this game is so satisfying to complete and the only gripes I have with the game are the unskippable cutscenes and transitions, and the fact that there are some collectibles in the worlds and levels that feel like they should have been added to a tally of some sort. But it's nice to see you review this game, even if I am years late getting a chance to play it.

Little KZbin tip, based on what I can discern from channels that are more open about their metrics: 1. The first few hours of a video’s life are the most important as far as “the algorithm” promoting the vid to the general public (based on its category). 2. Engagement, leaving likes, dislikes, and comments, encourages “the algorithm” to promote the video more when people are searching for related content. So if someone searches “nitro rad” or “super lucky’s tale” vids that have had more engagement will be closer to the top. 3. Subscribing, obviously, is supposed to tell “the algorithm” that an account wants to see the regular uploads of that channel. “The algorithm” is imperfect and doesn’t always sort vids the right way, which is what the notification bell is supposed to fix. I’m sure anyone who’s been doing KZbin for any substantial amount of time already figured this out, but here it is for those of us who weren’t in the know.

I don’t think you HAVE to say that you got it for free but it’s useful to know that you won’t be influenced by your investment. For example…if I paid $60 for a game and it was fairly mediocre or disappointing, I’d have a stronger opinion about the price point and my investment. However if it was $5 or $10, or free for that matter, I might be more willing to defend that and maybe even use that aspect to promote it like, Yeah it’s not the best game but for $10 it’s definitely a game I highly recommend. Understandably, as you said, it’s your job to separate those factors but not everyone is great at that. So yeah, it’s helpful, to me anyway. I paid $20 for NSLT on PS4 and was very happy with that price point. It was $30 for awhile, which I would’ve been okay with as well. :)

Not gonna lie, when I first saw this game I thought it looked a lot like those unknown B-level platformers from the late 90s/early 00s, with characters like Ty or Kingsley's Adventure. Also how cool is it that he does this drilling move into the ground. Just when you mentioned it I was just thinking of how that would be a logical move for him to have, since it's something that foxes do in real life.

its crazy how much was actually *different* with New Super Lucky's Tale when compared to the Original (the Story and Characters were SIGNIFICANTLY different, entire levels and NPC's were even removed, and yet somehow it was just subtle enough that you wouldn't know unless you played both)

B-studio games are like the comfort food for gamers. They're always there, they're cheap, they're quick, they're filling, pleasant tasting, and they don't make you feel bad afterwards if you get them every once in a while.

Not gonna lie. When I first saw this game, this looked like very okay-level. Like, it looks fine and I'm sure it will play fine, but nothing about it screams out to make it big.

Maybe that's why they made a more epic intro

I 100% Both the Xbox/Windows 10 and Steam Versions [Achievements and All] and I can easily say that New Super Lucky's Tale looks like a HUGE Improvement! While I loved the Original Super Lucky's Tale, It did have Its Flaws and a few odd Design Choices, But overall, I loved the Experience, Art Style, Music [Loved the Lady Meowmalade Boss Music!] and Lucky was extremely adorable! I am really happy to see that Playful made Lucky finally run up right as having Him running on all fours was kind of jarring. It made Me so happy to see You finally Review this Game, Nitro Rad; As I had been hoping that We would get the Chance to see Your Thoughts on the Original but the updated Version looks so great! I really hope that Playful have It Ported to PC eventually. I would love to 100% It too! Definitely one of My favourite 3D Platformers of the Decade. :)

The art style in the opening cinematic reminds me a lot of Sly Cooper. I love the Sly games, so that's in no way a bad thing.

I'm not 100% on the details but I'm pretty sure failure to disclose that you got a game for free is at least considered a trade violation in the US

I had the same reaction when this game was announced for Xbox One. It got me super interested, but because it was on a console I didn't have/care about, it made me sad when I realize I couldn't play it. Then Nintendo announced it out of nowhere and I was instantly on board. I really wish we had more studios like Playful. From what I've been hearing about them, they have been a pretty genuine and honest of a studio.

The intro looks like a merge of the Legend of Kay and Vexx game intros and so far, I'm enjoying this game a lot.
