Cassowarys are really scary birds. They got claws to gut predators, like their kick is super dangerous. Beautiful birds too, often referenced when talking about speculation on what dinosaurs look like since they have very primitive features vs most birds even compared to the ones that walk like them, like the kinds of feathers they have and stuff. They're super interesting and beautiful birds honestly, recommend some reading on them since they're pretty interesting.

The thing that charmed me about the HD Remaster was just how passionate the devs were about their IP. I even had one of them commenting on my screenshots, a nobody like me? That's kinda awesome. I even made a post about a graphical glitch with the skybox during the final fight that I wasn't sure if it was like that in the original or not. Not a day or two later, the issue was fixed, even acknowledged my post for helping them catch that. For a dev (or group of devs) to go back, remaster all 3 of their 'mediocre' little platforming games, port them over to PC and Switch with more love and care than I've ever seen of a triple A developer with both tweaks and nice little needless, but helpful additions (the weapon wheel would never have even crossed my mind as something worth adding and yet they did it anyway) is just incredibly wholesome to me. It's that passion for games and the art that I really wish more developers got to express.

Legitimately why Rad is one of my favoritre KZbinrs. As much as I love AVGN, his schtick unintentionally caused a tidal wave of edgy, pessimistic game reviewers that is still ongoing to this day. It's to the point that people are now remembering how good regular objective reviews are, or even better, how good reviewers can be when they just act like themselves and talk about shit they like. Nitrorad really is just a dude who likes games talking about games he likes, and all his faults are wholly human errors that AID his channel rather than taking away from it. Little slips he makes reminds me that he's a human being, not some robot reading statistics or mechanics off to me. I GENUINELY like that. It also makes me trust his content more because when you go into games LOOKING for things to criticize, you'll always find plenty of it. But because Rad isn't trying, it means that when he DOES criticize something, it is an actual constructive critique.

@SirBopALot2 жыл бұрын
@@Impalingthorn Nitro Rad directly influenced and inspired me to give smaller forms of media a fair day in court, so to speak. I don’t want to be seen as a cliché gamer more a cliche KZbinr. What I mean is, I’m going to start my videos with that cliché “Hey guys, what’s going on? It’s ya boi Sir Bop-A-Lot” and give off a bad impression m being seen as a generic face in the crowd. The exact same thing can be said about being a gamer, as it amounts to me telling people I play video games, which, don’t get me wrong, I do play games, but, what, do people automatically expect me to p,any *just* things like Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, and nothing else? No way, man, I don’t work like that. James, as I said, taught me to give things that are ‘awful’ a chance. SpongeBob SquarePants Creature from the Krusty Krab is an example I share with everyone, as the game is often criticized for not having a coherent plot, and those people literally have no idea what they’re talking about, and are just saying that for attention, as opposed to acknowledging the fact that was the intention, as the game is a literal fever dream, and those are just as incoherent. The DS version gets a lot of unwarranted hate, and it’s always hated by a hypocrite. Literally everyone who complains about the game using the touch screen forget that the DS Mario vs. Donkey Kong games use the exact same control scheme. To avoid sounding like a nostalgia blind hypocrite myself, I can agree with the fetch quest mechanics, and the length of some of the levels.

"The bad guys are lizards, but the guy in charge is an ostrich." *Facepalm* So close, Rad. Boss Cass is actually, not to be funny, a Cassowary. Smaller than an Ostrich, they're found within the tropical forests of New Guinea, Maluka Islands, and Northeast Australia. Most specifically, he might be a Southern Cassowary. They tend to be MUCH more aggressive than Emu or Ostriches. An Emu will follow you out of curiousity and will only really attack if you're a threat. An Ostrich is more assertive and will keep toward it's nest, but if you keep your distance, they tend to be only slightly wary of you. A Cassowary, on the other hand, is a straight up bastard. If you even come CLOSE to their territory, they tend to charge at you and kick with their dangerous feet, lash out with their heads, and generally attack without mercy or hesitation.

"It stings because someone didn't give something a chance because of what I said" The way you said this reminded me of what happened to Tom Hulett. Tom Hulett is a person who """ruined"" (which he definitely didn't) the silent hill franchise. He hasn't worked with Konami for about 6 years now, but his legacy has forever been surmounted with him ruining Silent Hill and ruining everything that has his name on it. He once had an interview where to find feedback on the goosebumps game that he worked on so he went and saw a playthrough of it in KZbin. He watched the whole playthrough that lasted three hours and in the let's player was enjoying it, until the credits roll and the name "Tom Hulett" came up. It made the LP-er do a 180 on his opinion and said the game was trash and stuff, that broke his heart - which was also the same feeling I felt when you said that. @Shaman Xeed I know. It was simplification to make a point. If I wrote it in a more literal way, it wouldn't be as concise and to-the-point. The type of humor this is meant to be requires a tone to be established, and then shifted, quickly. A one-to-one, more faithful script of what he says wouldn't have the textual speed required to have the same effect. e.g. Every, adage, ever. "April showers bring May flowers" wouldn't be as catchy if it was "Just because things may be unpleasant right now doesn't mean that things won't or can't get better later, and may even be caused by the unpleasantry that preceded it." even though the latter is a more literal interpretation.

I agree with what your saying, but you can enjoy trash games and movies, reviews are always going to be subjective in some respect, especially when it's a single person on youtube. I'm sure there's somebody out there who loves bubsy 3d half to death, doesn't make the game any better. some people have ridiculously high standards, some have reasonable standards, and some people can enjoy just about anything. The Micheal Bay transformers movies are kind of forgettable and most people hate them, and I admit there are some major flaws but I enjoyed them when I watched. Trash does not always mean unenjoyable. Subjective taste is by definition unique to each person. Just look at Armond White, who praises universally panned movies and trashes universally beloved ones. It’s so cool to see you review this game again six years later! I grew up with this review, and all those years ago I begged my mom to buy this game for me. While I couldn’t really process the actual great parts about this game, seeing you talk about it again makes me. Feel like an eight year old again. Thanks for pumping the nostalgia juice!

I remember getting this game for my birthday one time as a kid from my cousins, no doubt like a "Cheap game for a kid" thing. I played it just to see how it would go, and I loved playing it. I remember getting all the boomerrangs, getting stuck on the final Boss because I had no idea you simply had to freeze the flamethrowers and bite them. When I found out it was coming out in Switch thanks to the Kickstarter, I was waiting for a year to get it and when I had the funds, I made sure to finally buy it, despite my initial plans to wait for a price cut because $30 was a lot. I immediately felt familiar with the control scheme, like how you never forget to ride a bike type of way. I love this game a lot. 100% and hopefully we get Ty 2 and Ty 3, the latter of which I didn't have an opportunity to play.

TY was one of my favorite games growing up, and while I still have the original- I almost want the remaster just to support Krome. Thanks for this video Nitro- it's a real mark of maturity to redo something you know didn't hit the mark, and come at a game with more positive views. To me, the ranged attack rhythm, bite, and ledge-grab are brilliant and should be genre staples. Here's hoping for a fifth game for you to review one day! I bet the folks at Krome would love to see your video too.

I really respect the way you re-approeached and re-evaluated the view you had on one of your first game reviews here with Ty. It was a fair and focused look at the things you loved and didn't necessarily love about the game, and I recognize that takes a lot of growth to do. Plus you articulated all of your thoughts in a very concise and clear manner. 10/10 video and analysis. Between this and your other vids, I'll definitely be subscribing.

I had a friend gift me this game on steam about 2 years back. I remember seeing it somewhere as a kid but never paid mind to it. Anyway after a hour into it I just fell in love with the charm of the game, yes it's easy and generic but the cuteness of the characters and the gameplay was solid. I think the only thing I didn't like was how some areas were so big (the water/island sections mostly) and finding the collectibles were so much of a chore, But I 100% in the end and can say this is one of my fav older titles now.

This was one of the first PS2 games I remember playing and the characters, levels, and soundtrack have really stuck with me. I still laugh about some of the dialogue, even a small piece of dialogue that’s entirely optional in the second game. Who knew a game about a beautiful extinct animal from Australia could bring so much nostalgia and joy.

You did actually put me off these games for years. I only recently played Ty 1 on Steam last year, and I rewatched your old video afterwards, to find that I disagreed with you a lot 😂 Nice to hear your honest opinion after all these years, a decently mediocre game, rather than a painfully mediocre one. Got bored playing Ty 2 though, and moved onto other games. Maybe a Re-review like this one will convince me to finish Ty 2 🙂

But im happy to hear you gave the game another try and you were a lot more fond of it. Brought a smile to my face because I think TY and Krome deserve it. I also played Scaler, Vex, Blinx and many other smaller platformers, but TY always stood out the most for me from those. Im certain that Krome feels ever more proud and happy to hear changed or adjusted opinions to be more positive, like this one. That's one of the reasons they're doing it for!

I just realized that the level progression in this game is extremely similar to Mario Odyssey's levels. Originally steering you towards an objective in a linear fashion, then opening up to either sprawling open worlds (like sand kingdom), or being able to go back through the more linear course again for new objectives (like the luncheon kingdom). The difference is that Odyssey has beter placed items/creatures/terrain to make the worlds feel less empty. Also, I don't think any levels in Odyssey end up not having some kind of open space, except the boss stages. Loved the video, I thought you did a great job! Keep on keeping on :)
